This book is about Peter's war with grandpa. Grandma passed away and Peters parents thought they should have grandpa live with their family. Since grandpa is moving in, he needs a room. Peter had to give up his room to grandpa and Peter had to sleep in a different room. Then Peter started a war with Grandpa. Their war is like playing pranks on each other. In the end Peter got back his room and Grandpa made his own little house at the basement.
I can connect this to movies or real life situa More...

This book was really sad at the end. The boy went a little too far with hiding his grandpa's dentures. It was sad but at the same time sorta was a discussion book.

This book is wonderful. It's about a ten-year-old boy who has a grandpa who is coming to live with them. He is coming because his wife just died. So, in other words, the boy's grandmother has died. Toby is happy about his grandfather coming, but there is a downside. Grandpa has a bad leg, and cannot live in the attic, which is the guest room. Grandpa has to sleep is HIS ROOM. The boy is very angry and declars war on his grandpa. They play mean tricks on each other. Will the war end? Will the gra More...

I'm going through my old books to weed out some to give away/sell. I don't need to own some of the kids books anymore, but am reading them one more time before letting them go. I think my class read this book in 5th grade. A quick read- I liked that the book was framed as a story that the protagonist was writing as a school assignment.

The kids enjoyed listening to this book (as soon as we finished it they asked to listen to it again), however, I (as a parent) took issue with some of the messages it conveyed. After finishing the book, we talked about the evils of "entitlement" and about how sacrifice brings blessings. There were other "good" messages in the book, but I was glad we had read it together so we could discuss it afterward.

I thought that this book was an interesting book. This is a book about Peter and his grandpa having a war because his grandpa has taken his room when his grandpa moved to his house. There isn't really much of a very big conflitc here because its mainly about using methods to get his grandpa to give him the room back.

very good and funny--this is about a boy whose grandpa comes to live with his family and he has to give up his room for him. He declares war on him because he doesn't think it is fair.
