For an impeccable gentleman's butler like Sebastian Michaelis, the word "impossible" is just not in his vocabulary. Everything demanded of him under the English sun is well within his grasp. But do his talents extend to things under the scalding Indian sun?! As Harold West-Jeb's plan to use Agni, Prince Soma's superhuman butler, in a curry battle to win himself a Royal War...more

Murdock.

LOL. Me encanta. Preveo muchos momentos divertidos con ella. Y Soma (L)_(L), dios, es tan inmaduro y amor a la vez... a mí me tiene conquistada.

Próximo tomo... ¡nos vamos al Circo! Oj, seg...more

Great volume! There was a bit less variation (and a regrettable lack of fan service!) in this volume, since it was mostly taken up with the cooking competition (though just the appearance of Sebastian is close enough to fan service to count). Lots of interesting plot twists though, and the arc closed nicely and introduced the beginning of the next one by the end of the book. You can't help but love Queen Victoria, she's one badass granny, especially for a queen! I also really like Agni (Prince S...more

Black Butler, Vol. 5 has me now falling in love with this series and I'm feeling completely captivated with it again. The character development has improved tremendously and I no longer feel Sebastian is the sole reason for reading it. True, he is still the main reason but I'm finding there are many more as the series continues.

In this volume, Sebastian and Agni compete in the Curry Festival to win a Royal Warrant. I am a lover of food. When you meld two of my favorite things (foo...more

CONTAINS SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I hate Mina!! I'm sad now that she didn't die or have somthing worse happen to her. She left the Prince to become a wife for wealth and show. What a witch to make Soma worry so much.

The Queen is hilarious. She keeps crying and yelling "ALBERRRRT!!" hehe so sad though.

Sebastian won the curry competition. No surprise really, he made a new product called the curry bun!! I want to try some Tooo!!!!

"What is that square box!? There are people inside!!" -- Soma refurring...more

Another great volume of Kuroshitsuji, this one neatly wrapping up the Soma / Agni storyline. I like how this volume was about characters - the personal growth of Prince Soma, the exploration of Ciel's servants, and Agni's entire storyline. We also see the beginnings of the next arc, the Circus arc, which I recall as being very good and I think longer than two volumes, which is also good. Next volume should hopefully have more of the story behind the Phantomhive tragedy and Ciel's motivation for...more

More of Prince Soma here, the meat and end of this particular story arc. I really enjoyed this book as well, though that's sort of a trend for me so far in reading the manga. Also, I totally ship Soma and Agni. Will do anything for his god, eh? EH? -coff-

At any rate, again, this follows fairly close to the anime but where it diverges in terms of small plot points and certain characters, it's an improvement on the overall story line. There's also an introduction here to a story line not in the a...more

I wasn't nearly as disappointed by this one. I think it's because I was expecting it to be kid of lame. It kind of was, but I also warmed up to the prince a little. He's good for comic relief sometimes. Still, I couldn't take any of the material in these last two volumes seriously. They didn't do much to further the over storyline. I want to know more about why Ciel made his deal with Sebastian. I like when this manga gets dark. That kind of feeling suits it much more than the shenanigans. I'm r...more

This part in the story was a continuation of the 4th book when Agni leaves Prince Soma and works against them to get the Royal warrant in a Curry competition.

The beginning of the story was very interesting. I was very curious to see who would win in the competition, Agini or Sebastian? I was very confident that Agni would win, with all the talk about his "Right hand of God". But that didn't seem to be the case! It seems Sebastian has many hidden talents and ace's up his sleeve to be defeated!

This volume was so random and silly! Haha, but I was excited to see The Viscount of Druitt returned! He cracks me up!

I know I've said it before, but it bears repeating... one of my favorite things about this series is that you never know if Ciel and Sebastian are good guys or bad guys...because they're a little bit of both depending on what's going on. I love it! I can't wait to see how the series ends! (well, I can, because the more the better :-p but you know what I mean)

Anyway, pictures! Oh m...more

The first part of this volume is all about Sebastian looking for the best curry. Awwww Sebastian as a cook is adorable! And I love that he never loses patience. But why did Ciel want him to lose?

The curry competition was pretty funny, especially when it was time for the judges to taste each kind of curry. I liked it when everyone was describing the perfection on Agni's and Sebastian's curry (Lord Druitt is soo ridiculously funny!) The appeareance of Queen Victoria was surprising, I hope she will...more

I'm in love with the manga black butler, it's one of my all time favorites. I understand it's not for everyone, but I enjoy reading it, and re-reading it in some cases, it's a refreshing read and it's always fun. Albeit, sometimes very dark and very creepy, as you get along you get a more indepth feel of the work, but it's a great piece. LOVE black butler!

I'm craving curry!

I loved all of the food, and the competition between Sebastian and Agni was fun to read about. I wanted to dive into the world and enjoy it too.

We didn't get any insight to Ciel or Sebastian in this volume, so I was a little disappointed. But I am glad that Agni and our silly Prince will be making future appearances.

This vol. I must say beats out the rest with humor. I was having trouble trying not to laugh as Sebastian has to do his job as a butler while stoping some "unforseen" events.

Oh funny. Again, I did not read the manga book translated by Yen Press, instead I read the scans. And as everyone should know by now.. that Yen Press translation sucks.
Monica
Each volume I read keeps getting funnier. I can't but love Sebastian so much. There is nothing that this butler can't do! He is skilled in every way, handsome and oh so funny. I just love The whole curry competition that goes on and how Hw creates this curry bun that amazes everyone. Only he would win by creating something out of the ordinary :)
Kathleen
The curry cook off championship! I do love that the power of the "Right Hand Of God" is not actually for combat but delicious cookery. I also love the big chef showdown, because who wouldn't? Plot-wise, meeting the Queen was very interesting and I am glad that our Indian friends will be sticking around.

This was a great volume in the series. I loved Prince Soma and Agni. Soma did finally find Mina, but let's just say she didn't want to be found. This volume ends leading into the next arc, the Noah Circus. I'm trying to wait for the official releases to read it, but I may have to sneak a peek XD
Jennifer
This is actually more of a 4 1/2 star rating but since I can't do that, five is most appropriate. I find Prince Soma to be very annoying but he is starting to grow on me. Much like Grell did while watching the amine. I'm very much looking forward to the circus. Finally a story that I haven't already seen in the amine. It's just a shame that I won't have 7 till October.
Jessica
Given the set-up, I really expected to read this book and then leave the series. Instead, this ended up being my favorite so far. I liked the twist and I particularly liked that I was able to get new backstory and explanation regarding the characters and world.
Natalie
Almost caught up! Volume 5 features the culmination of the curry battle, Queen Victoria busting in on horseback, and a hilarious battle between Sebastien and Aguni, as Sebastien tries to keep Aguni from incrimination himself.
Rose
There's not that much more I can say about Black Butler. I'm just repeating myself when I say that it's entertaining, fun and weird in a good way. But the best thing: it gets better with each volume!
Angelyn
Sebastian trying to stop Agni to take the blame for the recent crimes and making the Prince not to appear was one of the most hilarious chapters of Black Butler (Kuroshitsuj) I have read so far!!!
Jacob Jones
Never before has making curry been so awesome! This issue was absolutely mindblowing and I absolutely loved it the whole way through! I don't have anything big to criticize.
Luke
this was one i really enjoyed, this and vol. 3 they really got my attention and i love the downstairs with yana toboso.
the scarecrow
*yawn* pretty much summed this one up. Good thing Sebastian is so pretty, or I'd have fallen asleep.
Leeni Ahonen
It was awesome! I think this was my first volume of Kuroshitsuji that I really loved.
Cindy
This was not as dark as prior volumes, maybe traces of it. It was quite funny and entertaining. In particular, Soma and Agni made it good. At least, to me. This volume endeared both of them to me. It would be nice to see them again later in the series. Sebastian grew on me in this volume. He's always so in control and he remained so here, but it was fun watching him deal with things--sort of like always with the staff, come to think of it.
Dani
The men in this manga are so cute and girly! I love girly dudes!
Emmy Lou
My only complaint: THERE'S NO GRELL! I freaking love Grell!
