Like Richardson, I write too much. Unlike Richardson, I do not own my own printing press.

Update 12/10

The end continues to be nigh. Clarissa is buried, her long-ass will has been read, and Lovelace’s friends are trying to get him out of the country before someone initiates a duel. I continue to think about things that I will miss once it’s time for me to find a new hobby. And in the spirit of Vocab Rehab, I’d like to

Oh my... there may actually be a little plot happening here!

Volume 3 opens with Clarissa's fateful choice to meet Mr. Lovelace. Foolish, foolish girl. It's hard to say much about it without giving away the majority of the plot, but Mr. Lovelace features much more prominently in this part of the 9-volume novel. A bold, brave, trying love story written as a series of letters between a young woman and the man she loves yet she determines to maintain her purity to the end. Her family and friends do not understand her nor appreciate her strength as she is considered a shame for her disobedience to her father and men in general.

This book is still frustrating and slow, but a little more happened in this volume than the other two. It is fairly well written, and I like the main character. Many of the other characters are also very interesting. I had no idea that Lovelace was going to turn out to be quite as bad as he is. It will be interesting to see how he acts in the rest of the books.
