Oh, Pepper Martin, how glad I am I don’t know you in real life. Sure, by book #3 you’ve developed (somewhat) as a character. But, you see, I don’t really like you much. I understand it was important to establish your back story in the first couple of books: an ex rich girl who now is slumming it working in a cemetery. But now that I’m being battered over the head with your wardrobe of glittery shoes I am really sick of your snobby attitude. I can’t figure out what Quinn or Dan would see in you. More...

Pepper first notices Damon at the end of The Chick And The Dead, which took place in early summer. It's now just before Halloween and she has been attempting to ignore him for all that time, despite him managing to pull a few tricks that neither of the previous ghosts she has reluctantly helped has been able to do. When she finally does speak to him, it's to tell him to leave her alone. If she'd just run from one case straight into the next one I'd probably get frustrated with her, and [although More...

I've really enjoyed the previous two books in the series, but I'd be lying if I said that I was starting to get a little antsy. Not only has Pepper still not made any real moves towards either of her two hotties (ok, so one is unpredictable) but she also hasn't learned anything about her powers or the warnings that Dan keeps harping about. Hopefully this book's promise of changes to the series will be fulfilled in the next book.

The book picks up right on the heels of the second book, More...

At first blush, this one appeared to involve a welcome variation on the "I see dead people and help solve how they were killed" theme. Pepper's new client is the ghost of a Jim Morrisonesque rock star who od'd in 1971. In a new twist, he is being exploited by a band member who channels him and is exploiting the ghost's musical gifts. Of course it ended up being both more and a good deal less complicated than that. The character development is fabulous, you learn what Pepper's real More...

This is the third installment in the Pepper Martin Mystery series and once again an enjoyable read.

In this book our feisty cemetery tour guide has to help rock legend Damon Curtis. Now - the back of the book claims that Damon is convinced that his band mate murdered him and that Pepper's mission is to prove that - but they have that kind of wrong. I hate it when backs of books misdirect the reader! And I am happy I didn't read the back of the book before I started or I would have be More...

Another fun Pepper Martin mystery that's as good as the first and better than the second in the series. Again, the ghost is the best character, this time a 60s rocker who possibly died of an overdose forty years ago. I couldn't help but think he was a Jim Morrison prototype, especially with some of the lyrics.

Pepper was thankfully brighter in this book and figured things out at a good pace. Unfortunately, I have a tendency to figure out whodunnit early on in this series, for lack of More...

I have been reading the Pepper Martin series for a couple of days now. I read the first one with no big pleasure. The premise is good, but the writing came across stale and the story seemed one dimensional. Read the second one- it had sporadic plot development and inconsistent shallow characters. Read the third- I didn't love it either. SO why would I keep reading? Why even give the fourth one a try you my ask? Well, there is a twofold answer. 1) I have a serious problem starting a series More...

Pepper works in a cementary and due to a blow to the head, now visits with ghosts - not all ghosts - usually ghosts of folks that have been murdered. Damon Curtis was killed in the 70's, but now he needs Pepper's help to get one of his former band members to stop channeling him for the music that he still "writes". In the process, they find a person who has just been murdered - seconds before he dies. Will they find the true killer, or will he get away with another murder??

If you love cozies with a twist, you'll love the third installment in the Pepper Martin paranormal cozy series, Tombs of Endearment. Right after Pepper solved her second ghost's murder, she's due for a rest, that winter in Cleveland. But she ended up with unrest, when dreamy Damon Curtis's ghosts approaches her. He was the lead singer of a band in the 60s, who was murdered. So it's up to Pepper to find out who wanted him dead, including his agent and former band members, and a crazy groupie name More...

This was a good story. Interesting mysteries and characters. Yet, I still seem to be having difficulty getting into the book. I like it but I think if Pepper was at work more often, it would lend more credibility.

Off to the next as I'm reading them in order.

I really enjoy fluffy mystery novels like these. Ones where the protagonist is light, fun and interesting, she isn’t perfect, but she’s also not TSTL. I especially enjoy them when the mystery isn’t too easy to figure out. The books in the Pepper Martin series are fun, perfect summer reading with just the right amount of love interest, intrigue and mystery. As much as I love books like this, I don’t think I would ever own them unless given to me as a prize in a contest or as a present. But I defi More...

This was terrible. The author writes the same story each time, and guessing "who done it" is ridiculously easy. The characters don't grow at all--if anything, they are more one-dimensional than before. I quit this series, and don't recommend it.

Out of the three novels in this series this one has to be my favorite. I really loved the dynamic between Pepper and her ghost of the month (so to speak.) And then the added twist that she is attracted to Damon is a fun little side plot. The downside to all these books is the fact that I pretty much figure out who is the culprit in the urder mystery pretty quickly, but it is still fun to see how Pepper gets there. And to have the added dynamic of the return of both (real) men in her life, Qui More...

3rd in the series, Pepper helps a dead rock legend Damon Curtis, and shes finally starting to grow and mature. Dan is still a mystery... And the ending will definitely make you want to pick up the next book right away.

Good ole Pepper Martin!! I love her! This time she falls in love with the ghost of a 60's rock star...and tries to help him by solving his murder.

Delightful cast of characters...quick read.

Hot Hot Hot!!!! Pepper's case this time involves a "Jim Morrison"-type rocker who really knocks Pepper for a loop. Throw in the R&R Hall of Fame and the music biz and it's a fun ride!

Pepper is a go-getter. She's talking to dead people, leading tours of the cemetery, talking to dead people, helping the dead rock star....
I do enjoy this series. The titles are so 'punny' which I always love and Pepper is so cool. I wish I had her taste in clothes and ability to accessorize. But I definitely wish I had her go-get-'em 'tude. She really has to make a go of it after the rug gets pulled out from under here (see DON OF THE DEAD for the reason why) and she takes ghost bull by th More...

I do not know why I keep reading these Pepper Martin books - they are far more in the chick lit vein than serious paranormal fiction, which I normally am annoyed with. I think I like these in spite of Pepper herself. This third book in the series has a great ghost - a Jim Morrison-type rock god that needs some cleanup of issues with his past associates. The characters are funny and kept this light mystery rollicking along. The most annoying part is that the fourth book seems to mean that Elvis i More...

This time Pepper is working for the ghost of Damon,a sexy rock star who OD'd in the 60's. He is being held on earth by one of his old band mates, Vinnie, who is channeling him for songs. If Pepper can make Vinnie stop with the black magic, Damon can move on. Afterall, it isn't as if he was murdered, or was he???

I really enjoy these mysteries. They are chick lit but they are more. There is action and character development along with plenty of shoes.
