One look into the begging eyes of this white and black puppy, and you will eagerly agree to take him for a walk. The puppy explains throughout the book why he needs to go for a walk. There are cats to chase, birds to bark at, squirrels to keep in the trees. There are people to greet, games to watch, and games to play. Best of all, there are other dogs to meet too!

This is an extremely cute little book about a puppy pleading for a walk and talking about all the things he wants to go out and do. I got my 7-year-old nephew to read it to my puppy as her bedtime story (telling him she'd like a bedtime story is a good way to get him to practice his reading, and she does seem to enjoy it).
This is a fun book that is told from the dog's perspective asking it's owner to take it for a walk. It shares all the things that can be done or seen while they go on a walk.
Teaching children about persuasion is important and using this dog as an example is an awesome example! It teaches children literacy skills and about caring for a dog and all that it needs.

A charming picture book of a dog trying to convince her/his owner to take her/him for a walk. The title is a repeated refrain throughout the story.
The children at story time were quite entranced. One little girl commented that "Dogs can't talk." Another kept sadly saying "I don't have a dog."

This is definitely more for younger kids. Julia thought the illustrations were nice and they were. The story was very basic and told of the dog wanting to go for a walk.
I wouldn't suggest this for any child older than about 2 or so. Unless maybe it's just as addition to some other reading.

We thought this was a pretty funny book. The pictures made us laugh. We liked how the dog seemed to be talking to us and wanting us to take him a walk. We used this book to help us practice the strategy check for understanding. We wonder if this book is in the library.
OKAY I admit it, I teared up at the end. The artist who illustrated this book deserves a medal - that is the exact look on MY dog's face when she wants to go out. This book was so cute, I might have to buy it (even though I don't have any kids!).
I read this book to help me practice thinking like the character. This main character is a dog, so it was easy to think like him. I liked the way the book started. The dog was chasing the cat, birds and squirrels.

Light hearted and fun, this picture book is sure to delight beginning readers with it's just right text and endearing illustrations that make you just want to run outside and take that dog for a walk.
Polite pup who says please takes readers on a playful dog's eye view of his neighborhood. Collage art on the cover and endpapers include maps of the author's neighborhood--Berkeley, California.
A dog begs to be taken for a walk and tells all the things it would love to do while out. The reader may notice details in the illustrations such as fall scenes along with things dog lovers would appreciate.
The dog pictures are fabulous, the organization is simple for kindergarten, and the dog stuff relates to all dog owners. Just not a super advanced or overly deep text.
A really cute story and I love the illustrations. It's great to see a book from a dog's perspective about why he/she wants to go on a walk.
love the illustrations! The dog reminds me of a cross between Bolt and the dog in "Up." I did not see the ending coming which is a nice surprise.

Cute little pup begging to go for a walk. Nice diversity in the illustrations, which are done in charcoal and digital collage.
We read this tonight and we all loved it. The pictures are so detailed and fun to look at. Really beautiful :)
