Man, I wanted to like this more than I did. First of all, I didn't really warm up to Lance. He was a poorly-fleshed out character. I know that with 192 pages there is not a lot to work with. But I have read some books of this length that had as much as I needed and more to like a character like Lance, commitment-phobic because of the abuse he suffered from his father and from his mother leaving.

He was arrogant, which is not necessarily bad, but there wasn't much to make up for it. He actually t
Lance Brody just got engaged, of course it is a business arrangement and he barely knows his fiancee but he has more pressing matters to attend to at work.

Secretary Kate Thornton is floored by the news Lance just rambled at her that he is engaged. Hurt and furious Kate decides the only thing to do is quit, there is no way she can watch the man she has quietly loved with a wife in what should have been her place. Deciding the time has come for her to stop hiding behind her baggy clothes, she und
Kate has been in love with her boss Lance for years. She is a very insecure person even though she lost 80 lbs in the last year. She still wears her same big clothes and her glasses no longer fit her face. When Lance gets engaged to the pretty Lexi (a senator's daughter),Kate gives her two weeks' notice. She comes in to work the next day after having a make-over, and Lance takes one look at her and is now interested and kisses her.
**SPOILER ALERT!!** Although Lance is determined to marry his fia
Makeover + weight loss = instant love does not work in this book. Thought I was going to like Kate until she caves with one kiss from the jerk who ignored her until she underwent a makeover.

I've been reading Harlequin Blaze titles for a few years (as well as other category romances: Silhouette Nocturne, Harlequin Nascar), so I decided to branch out to Silhouette Desire. Taming the Texas Tycoon is the first in a multi-author series -- list books as a "series," and I'll usually try them out -- though after finishing this novel, I wasn't certain whether I'd read the second book or not.

This experience was new for me two-fold: I've never read a Silhouette Desire (and had no preconceived
This was a pretty horrible book. I can see where the writer was going with this- introducing all of these characters to the mix. I think there were 2-3 males and 2 females that she's setting up stories for- maybe, maybe not. But let's just say that when you start getting more distracted by the brother or the investigator dude.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE office romance and the unrequited love the leading females have for their oblivious leading males, but this was very much anti-climatic. The mal
I won this book in a FaceBook giveaway by another author and thank goodness I didn't pay for it. There is no plot just a scenario. Plain-Jane secretary toils for 5 years for a boss she is in love with. She still wears her "fat clothes," oversize glasses, and nothing hairstyle. Boss is, of course, a hottie and never sees what's in front of him.
Boss announces engagement (it's political - Senator's daughter - and done for consideration of upcoming legislation). Secretary gives notice, goes to girlf
I wish I could give this book zero stars. We never find out who started the fire. The love story was so predicatble and the characrers were so unlikeable that it was amazing. I will read my nora roberts, susan mallery and debbie macomber before this author. She was so moralistic, Kate but yet she felt like she had no principles and I have to agree with her. wanted to like this book. but did not. It would have been nice if she had a backstory about lexi and Mitch in there as well. The characters ...more
This book was such crap that I couldn't finish it. I liked the premise, but even for this publisher it was just too much. I can understand where Kate's coming from, feeling an ugly duckling, yet still being to scared to do anything about it. I can ever understand Lance not being all that attracted to her pre-make over. But Lance has no emotional depth. If this were a full novel and Ms. Garbera had time to develop the characters, it could have been just the book for me. But it wasn't, so she coul ...more
My opinion of this short book was already formed about 70 pages in (maybe not even) .. CORNY CORNY CORNY ! Any woman who changes their appearance just for a man is not a real woman in my eyes. If you want to do it for yourself first and just so happen to attract another man's attention than that is wonderful. But the character Lance in this book was nothing but a shallow and arrogant individual demanding that he be in control. If I had a dollar for every time the word "honey" was used I'd be ric ...more
I liked this story on a superficial level. If I start examining the motives or actions of the main characters I have major issues.

As a fluff story - something quick to pass the time - it was good, but there were a lot of flaws. My main gripe is the heroine's complete lack of identity away from the hero. Also, the fact that the hero was engaged to someone else for the entire length of the novel really turned me off, even though the circumstances were explained well enough.
Kate wanted Lance Brody and decides
to walk away when he becomes engaged. She decides to undergo a complete
makeover and now he notices her. But will it make a difference? I really enjoyed this book I am looking forward to the rest in this series.

Klasik bir harlequin, abartılacak veya aşağılanacak birşey yok, okuması eğlenceli ama 1-2 ay sonra ismini hatırlamam bu da bir gerçek
