This book has so many problems that I had to stop after 86 pages, and that was generous. Thugs is rife with generalizations, such as a description of Nasser, "He hated the French, and he disliked the Americans," (p. 56) that provide no rationale, much less specific examples. There is also little attention paid to catastrophic effect on citizenry, who are usually treated as no more than statistics. I had high expectations for this book and it didn't quite meet the standard. Lots of information but I was hoping for more details of the gruesome acts done but this book focused on on the political side and achievements that were the outcome of such devastating acts.
