2.5 stars. This one was very disappointing. To be honest I skimmed then end so cannot even tell ya what actually happened.

Won't give up on SB just yet.

Kirsten Rumm has written a biography of her late husband Charlie "Demon" Rumm. Now a Hollywood movie is being made from her book and actor Rylan North has been picked to portray Demon. To get into character, Rylan asks to move in with Kirsten to immerse himself in the role. Against her better judgement she agrees. Soon Rylan has fallen for Kirsten and must convince her to take a second chance on love.

This is an older Sandra Brown contemporary romance. I didn't care for this story. I thought most

Audiobook. Not a huge fan of Sandra Brown and this book didn't change my opinion. First of all, who says indubitably to their honey when they're getting all romantic? And the descriptions of items - ugh! His shoes looked like 2 ship wrecked boats. What?! The author fills the book with these inane descriptions. I would have written them down if I wasn't listening to this in my car. And the heroine was not likeable at all - at first you think she's just a conquest but when he falls in love with he ...more

Soooo....picked up this book after finishing "Smashcut", which I adored. I figured, if she does mystery really well, the romance should be just as good, right? Um, wrong.

Honestly the overall book isn't terrible - the plot is (I think) a good one, definitely an interesting idea. But about 80% of the book is about Rylan fantasizing about or actively trying to have sex with Demon Rumm's widow. I did a lot of eye-rolling throughout this one - again, could have been a good, or at least decent, book,

Ugh. The dude was an eejit. She says "no", he not only thinks but says out loud "frigid". And the prose, oh, the prose... made my eyes bleed while reading certain paragraphs. But mostly what annoyed me was not the writing or the sheer eejitness of both the hero and heroine, but the sheer shallowness of the portrayal of two people falling in love. We see the hero salivating over the heroine and then getting angry because he's not getting any, but, get this, we're told he's... "in looove". Really? ...more

Sürekli bahsi geçti ...more

Çok çok sıradan bir aşk kitabıydı. Zaten kitap genelde iki kişi arasında geçen diyaloglarla devam ediyordu ve kız karakterin bakış açısından hiç anlatılmamıştı. Tanrısal bakış açısıyla bir tek adamın düşüncelerinden yola çıkılmıştı ama beni kitapta kendine bağlayacak hiçbir şey yoktu.

It was the publicity stunt from hell as far as Kirsten Rumm was concerned. She may have been writing the book about her late husband, aeronautical daredevil Demon Rumm, but she didn’t see the need to play host to the arrogant bad-boy actor starring in the film version’s title role. Still, for the good of the project, Kirsten agreed to share her beachfront home with the impossibly sexy screen idol.

Any other woman would do anything to be in her sandals, but Kirsten wasn’t falling for Rylan North,

Let me just say I am a romance junkie and if I stop reading/listening to a book in the middle of "the" part, then it's not a great story. I like Sandra Brown. I have loved more of her other books and was curious about this one even though it's almost 20 years old and the reviews here were not pleasant. I was even interested in the book once I got into it, but the widow and her shyness really grated on my nerves. The alpha male was hot, but he was treating her with much too much tenderness to say ...more

It seems insufficient to just say I didn't "get" this one, but I didn't. The setup - book into movie brings actor and writer together - didn't quite work for me. Further, I realize this was an early 80's romance, but I lived in the 80's. And I certainly do not remember a point in my lifetime when men were viewed as attractive wearing cut-off, midriff showing tank tops and cut-off jean shorts. Ewww.

It was so bad, I actually found myself laughing at parts. I realize that this was written in 1986, but it seemed even earlier. The dialogue was laughable, didn't seem like the characters had any connection other than physical. An her "secret" was absolutely ridiculous. Do not waste your time. This has to be one of the 5 worst books I have ever read.

Recommends it for: Readers nostalgic about classic romance w/ aggressive movie star hero
3.5 stars. An entertaining, satisfying, classic romance read w/ lots of sexual tension, both UST and RST, and steam.

When I first read this so long ago, I found Ryland's aggressiveness kind of sexy. On my second read, he comes off as a pushy, arrogant, jerk much of the time. It's interesting how your viewpoint changes overtime.

I could not take the shallow characters in this book. I hung in there for the mystery and because I kept thinking it would get better. It really didn't. I have liked other Sandra Brown books (her more recent ones). If you are new to Brown don't start with this book. Start with Lethal.

I received this book for free from Goodreads First Reads in exchange for a review.

This was a light and airy romance good for summer reading. Autobiographical author Kirsten Rumm is writing about life with her deceased airplane trickster Demon Rumm. That book is being made into a movie staring Rylan North. Ryan decides it'd be a swell idea for him to live with Kirsten for a while so he could really get a feel for how Demon was as a person.

Demon Rumm by Sandra Brown is a fiery passion of lust and yearning within the pages. Kristin Rumm loses her husband Demon, a stunt pilot, in a terrible, heart thumping accident which throws her into grievance and confusion. The majority of her husband’s spectator believed he was an entertainer, but to Kristin he was a hero. He was a hero in her eyes because he taught the values of achieving what you want no matter who told you that you couldn’t. Upon his death she wrote a novel to describe his l ...more

Kirsten Rumm was married to the once famous aerobatic pilot, Demon Rumm until he was killed in a horrific accident two years ago. Kirsten is writing a book about life with Demon Rumm and the famous Rylan North is playing the lead in the movie. Kirsten vehemently refuses but finally agrees to this 'bizarre' setup. Although Rylan is an extremely handsome elig ...more

I kind of feel tricked into reading this book as my local library did not have it marked as romance. Make no mistake, this is essentially erotica veiled by a flimsy plot. And even the flimsy plot involves sex. This book is misogynistic and the social issues are dated. However, the use of language was often pretty and the sliver of a plot could really have been interesting if expanded upon. It entertained, if but briefly, and overall wasn't the worst thing I've read (by far).

Awal cerita sih seksi. Menggoda rasa ingin tahu gue sebagai pembaca. Tapi ke tengah2nya, mulai merasa bosan. Terasa banget Mbak Sandra pengen manjang-manjangin. Apalagi waktu tahu rahasia De

This book made me wonder if romance novels are starting to lose their appeal to me (I find this sad).

(Note: possible spoiler alerts). The fact that instantly all Rylan North wanted to do is get in her pants because she was beautiful & petite was "love" to him was odd to me. He started thinking Kirsten was frigid right away when the JUST MET. He had all these theories about the woman he is "in love with" but she didn't give him any substance to be in love with - it was all about her appearanc
