This book is very interesting and it makes you think. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes books that make you think outside of the box. The main character is not your normal high school girl, she is way more. Within the book it includes life lessons as well. For example, you can only control yourself not other people and you do not want to ever lose a friendship with family or friends. I would recommend this book to any age group, I think it is a good read for boys and girls.

This book was really good. It was very detailed and I fell in love with the characters. I truly felt like I was there and jake is amazing.

I was crying by the end hoping he'd be ok. This book was great and I would have given it a 5 out of 5 stars had the ending been better. This book better have a sequel.

This author, I've found, does this. I read the death by series and loved them. However they ended with the couple not being together.

In trance the ending was so open ended and didn't really en

It's a good story. There are some important themes in here: death, grief, survivor's guilt, isolation, unhealthy coping mechanisms, dishonesty. Gerber handles all these really well within the context of a supernatural story involving visions, numerology and tarot. She even throws running for sport into the mix.

The only trouble here with the writing is that things unfold rather quickly and some of those themes are treated more lightly as a result. Then again, this is a YA book and aimed at a youn

2.5 stars out of 5. This book was around 280 pages but it felt much shorter. Not because I flew through the book (which I did) or I was so into it that I did not know the length, but instead because it felt like just the introduction to a book rather than a full book.

Ashlyn Greenfield is recovering. She recently lost her mom in an accident, her sister has disappeared, and even though her dad is still around, he might as well be gone as he is emotionally distant from Ashlyn. In addition to her em

Overall this book was pretty good, but it did get really slow at parts. I'd recommend it, though. It had a cool concept, and a different take on visions/trances. The writing was good and the characters were alright. Overall it's an OK read, that was pretty entertaining.

This book is filled with suspense, and cliffhangers. It's easy to get addicted to and will make you sad when you near the end. (not because of the story, just because it's so good you want to read it forever)

The book “Trance” by Linda Gerber takes place in present day with the main character Ashlyn, that lives in a very busy neighborhood. Her mother died a few months earlier, so she lives with her dad, and her older sister Kyra went off to college early. Ashlyn has trances that tell her that someone is going to have something bad happen to them. Ashlyn gets a vision of her friend Jake, getting in an awful car crash and dying. Ashlyn goes on a drive to find him, and she finds a crash on the side of t

"The backdrop of the stadium flips and the bleachers disappear. The track morphs into a rain-slicked road. In the air around me, a random jumble of numbers drift and swirl like tendrils of fog. Twin headlights cut through the darkness, racing towards me. I try to scream, but I can't make a sound."
The book "Trance" by Linda Gerber is filled with intense moments like this. A teenage girl Ashlynn has spent her whole life trying to figure out the meanings of intense trances she is randomly sucked

Trance was another novel I went into not knowing all that much about. Synopsis didn’t give me a great feel for the plot and well it was just intriguing enough to draw my attention. There were some pretty cool things about Trance that I really enjoyed. A lot of fresh, new ideas into the realm of YA fiction that has me pretty excited.

I really enjoyed Ashlyn’s POV. She was such a refreshing character as well. For once it was nice to have an MC that was just able to break down and cry. Someone who

I wasn't originally planning on reviewing this book just because I don't have a whole lot to say about it, but I thought I could just do a quick one basically summarizing my thoughts on it.

The story was reasonably fast-paced and didn't take me too long to read. It begun after the car accident, with the protagonist, Ashlyn trying to get her life back together. The whole story was pretty basic. It didn't pull me in or have me on the edge of my seat but I simply wanted to know what would happen. Th

I honestly don't know the best words to describe this book! I am in complete awe right now. I finished reading this in less than a day. I couldn't put it down. I read while I ate. I read while I got my lunch ready for work the next day. The only break I took was to watch the MTV Movie Awards preview of Harry Potter [nothing is more important than Harry Potter. Sor

Ashlyn has had trances all her life. She sees bits and pieces of when a future accident or death might occur. She has never been able to control or prevent any of her visions from coming true, not even the accident that killed her mother. After the death of her mom, Ashlyn is left with an absentee father and a sister who just takes off. Ashlyn is left all alone and is once again having trances of another event that she so desperately wants to put a stop to.

It wasn’t hard sympathizing for Ashlyn

Ashlyn and her sister Kyra have a gift: they have visions of the future. But when Ashlyn ignores a vision of Kyra's, their family is devastated by loss. Now it looks like it's all happening again, but who will be lost this time? And can the girls prevent the tragedy?

Meh. That's about all I can say. I read the entire book in about an hour, and when I was done, nothing intelligent popped into my head. Just meh. The premise is interesting, but the execution is rather humdrum. Not much happens in th

I was certainly expecting more from this book. What drew me to it was Lisa McMann's blurb about it. Many of you know I'm a huge McMann fan, so when I read the summary and Lisa's thoughts I thought I'd love it. But the thing is, I was expecting it to be a little dark and thrilling. Yet I can categorize it more with Sarah Dessen than with Lisa McMann, if you know what I mean.

With that said, the premise is very interesting, the writing was comfortable and what with being a very short read, I ended

I was quite surprised at how much I liked this book! I actually almost read the entire thing in one sitting! It was completely engrossing and very easy to read.
I really felt the author drew the characters quite well. Even though Ashlyn is the main character and it mostly focuses on her she did an awesome job with the side characters as well. I was able to understand and relate to the character and situations they were each in. I understood how Ashlyn didn't want to share her issue (the visions

This book "Trance" by Linda Gerber is about a girl named Ashlyn with a special talent. Ashlyn along with her older sister can see the future in psychotic episodes they call Trances. When her older sister sees her mother's death but Ashlyn ignores it things changed forever. Now as her sister ran away, her mother dead and her father cold and distant, can she get to the bottom of these trances?

Trance By Linda Gerber is 277 pages. The genre is mystery. Ashlyn Greenfield has a secret to keep for a reason. She want's it to stay that way to. Then on the night that changes her life forever she holds a burden. Her Mother dies in a car crash while she was driving. She should have seen it in her trances, her sister saw it in her's and she should have listened. Kyra her older sister is just like her. Ashlyn Greenfield's mother is dead and she is having trance's again. Ashlyn had been having Trance's ever since she was a little kid and she is deeply ashamed of the Trance's. Ashlyn feels if though she was the cause of her mother's death just because she didn't have one Trance that could have warned her of her mother's death. Now Ashlyn is having the Trance's again and when she starts having them about a friend of hers.....Ashlyn knows that she needs to step up and save a life.

Ashlyn lost her mother 8 weeks ago to a drunken driving accident; Ash was driving when a drunk hit them. She feels guilty not only for the usual reasons one might, but because she failed to have a "vision" before the accident that might have saved her mother's life. She and her sister have always had tandem visions of things about to happen, and though they can't always figure them out, it's often enough to warn the victim. Numbers come along with the visions, a stream of digits that Ash writes ...more

Trance is a multi-leveled novel that once I picked it up, I really did not want to put it down. Originally, I was drawn to Trance due to the summary sounding very similar to Lisa McMann's Wake series. But once I got deeper into the novel, it was quickly clear that while similarities are there, the two novels are quite different. Trance centers around Ashlyn, a young girl who has seen her share of misery from the visions she foresees. Not much is known about the trances, but one thing is certain, ...more

First, a question: Does anyone know if Trance is supposed to be middle grade or young adult? It feels like it could be either one - a fairly clean middle grade book with an older protagonist or a simpler young adult read. Either way, though, it's a fantastic, fast-paced read!

Gerber creates a mysterious mythology in Ashlyn and Kyra's trances. I loved reading about the different systems of numerology - something I hadn't known about before - and how they tied in to the mystery.

This was such a quick fun read. I flew through it in about half a day. Ashlyn is dealing with the death of her mother. Her sister, who she has always be so close to, took off as soon as it happened. Now Ashlyn is alone in the house with only her father, who stays locked away in his office or at work. She's trying to get back to her regular routine, working, etc., but suddenly the trances are back. Can she prevent the death this time?

This was a fun, quick read. I really didn't know what to expect when I picked this one up at the library but I definitely didn't expect to like it so much!

The back of the book didn't give me much as to what the book is about it just says, and I quote "It begins with a subtle vibration a tingling. There is time to take only one breath. The trance begins. When it is through, Ashlyn is certain of two things. Someone she knows is about to die, and...she is powerless to stop it." Thats it. So of cour

"Trance" is fiction book about a teenage girl who is having a rough life. Her mom was killed in a car crash while she was driving. Her and her sister Kyra have also been having these 'trances' since they were young. When these trances happen they black out, see an image, and write numbers on a sheet of paper. They can only figure out what they saw if they're together, but Kyra has disappeared. Ashlyn doesn't know what the trances are about or why they happen to her and Kyra. She also met a guy ...more

Trance is one book that captivated me. Ashyln's character not only seemed real but one that you can relate with right away. Ashlyn's life has been tough. After a bad car accident, her family is torn apart. Left with dealing with her powers on her own, she must overcome the guilt and fear she has in order to save someone she loves.

Ashlyn has been though so much after the accident. She tries to be strong and move on, but the guilt of the night that happen plays into her mind over and over again. S

I thought that this book would have something to do with the occult, since the front cover says something about the paranormal. It was an example of judging a book by its cover. I would not describe this story as being paranormal at all. This is a very good story that moves along to its conclusion swiftly. The characters and their pain feel genuine.

Ashlyn and her sister have had the same visions all their lives. They don't understand them and are powerless to stop them. They are also powerless

My thoughts...As a fan of Linda Gerber's books, I had really high expectations for this story. I knew from reading the book summary that Trance was quite different from her usual stories. Trance did not disappoint. It was a great story, creatively written, with edge-of-your seat action.

There were some great characters in Trance. My favorite was Jake, the resident musician. His character was very friendly and likable. Ashlyn, the heroine, proved to be an interesting character too. She faces many

The premise of this book sounded very interesting to me, so I was eager to read it. Unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed.

The Good: The main character, Ashlyn has a pretty rough life...her mother was killed in a car accident where Ashlyn was the driver, her father is practically absent from her life, and her sister moved away and Ashlyn has no way of contacting her...not to mention the fact that Ashlyn experiences premonitions that she is unable to control. I really felt sympathy for Ashlyn an
