I found this one more depressing than romantic. The heroine was so miserable that the instead of angst, it just felt . . . sad. The rich heroine is now a member of the working class after her father broke up her engagement to the bad-boy hero four years before. He feigned a heart condition and the heroine stood by her father. The male protagonist in this book is described as hawt just like Burt Reynolds. Then add alphabrute, angsty melodrama rich girl becomes poor and poor boy becomes rich, buys her old homestead, tortures her for breaking up with him, makes a generalised racist comment about the role his Asian mistress plays and it all escalates into jealous temper tantrums and chest-beating. Unfortunately, the two protaganists do connect in this dysfunctional romance. Horrid HEA life ahead of them.

Margaret Way was born and educated in the river city of Brisbane, Australia. Before her marriage she was a well-known pianist, teacher, vocal coach and accompanist, but her hectic musical career came to a halt when her son was born and the demands of motherhood dictated a change of pace.

On a fortuitous impulse she decided to try her hand at romance writing and was thrilled when Mills & Boon ac
