Thousands of years old, the ancient tales illustrated in these five titles have exercised a spellbinding fascination for centuries, inspiring artists, composers and writers. Illustrated throughout with full-color art inspired by myths and legends
This book provides a good overview of the myths and deities behind Japanese Shintoism and Buddhism. Much less challenging than reading Kojiki or Nihon-shiki! I found it both interesting and informative. It's also nicely illustrated. Recommended for anyone interested in the ancient roots of Japan.
Its four chapters are entitled:
1. The Roots of Religion 2. Creation Myths 3. Gods and Goddesses 4. Great Legend
