I found this in the library, thinking, I really shouldn't pick this out but.., so I walked out with this, among some other books that are more my style.

Well, let's start off with the fact that I consumed 150 pages of this book in the first sitting. Maybe not that impressive to you more HARDCORE readers who can sit down and read a book in one sitting, which I don't have the attention span to do I just can't do.

ANYWAYS, I am not going to do a synopsis of this book, because that's boring and I'd...more

Cammy has been teased throughout her school career over various embarrassing things that happened to her that couldn't be helped: in fifth grade, she threw up her ham sandwich and was called Hammy; her sophomore year, she got caught with her pants down and was called "Granny" due to her underwear style. She's used to being humiliated, but it still hurts. So when she gets a mysterious text message from someone who tells her how to get back at those who embarrassed her, she's intrigued. She's not...more

Cammy is a loser with a capital L. Her best friend is the Daninsh exchange student and her idea of fashion is which pajama bottoms to wear on a Saturday. Cammy lives with her grandparents and is the perfect granddaughter to make up for her mom leaving her there abruptly a couple of years ago. She goes to wood carving meetings with Gramps and volunteers at the animal shelter in her free time. Hardly something the man of her dreams, Luke, would notice her for. Cammy longs for anonymity amongst her...more

Sarah - I have read too many books like this one. Well, kind of. Cammy is an outsider. She lives with her grandparents, and her life pretty much circles around them. After she starts to get these text messages, she breaks out of her shell and grabs everyone's attention.

There is a little suspense in this novel since you don't know who the texter is until the end. I really don't blame Cammy for following everything the text messages told her to do. I mean most teenagers like attention. She was jus...more

In this book, there is an ordinary Cammy Hal is pretty much invisible, that's the way it's been her whole entire life in her small town high school, unless she ends up making a fool of herself, she's invisible. On the night of a high school dance, Cammy is changing from her dress to her regular clothes when someone walks in, sees her "granny-pants", and calls in the whole school to see her. The next day, somone mysterious helps her climb up the social ladder. Everyone loves her, but for how long...more

This is one of those strange books that I kind-of/sort-of liked and, as time goes by, I will like it less and less. But, it's still more of a 3-star book than a 2-star one so here goes...

I picked this up at Borders because I thought the cover was cute. Very superficial, I know, but it caught my eye. The back was a bit of a red flag. The story seemed kind of cheesy and possibly cliche but I figured that, hey, if I didn't like it I'd at least be able to throw it in my classroom library and it woul...more

Cammy Hall has been a loser in school her whole life. Now that it's finally a new school year, she plans on actually remaining unknown in school and keeping out of getting caught up with the popular people. Unfortunately, after a dance, she's caught changing by the queen of the school, Bekka, and a bunch of other popular people who laugh at her and her underwear. After that, everyone knows who she is and begin to tease her. Then, suddenly, she receives texts from an unknown person with the name...more

My thoughts...When initially asked if I wanted to review this book, I was not impressed with the title or the cover, but the creation of the book interested me. Readers voted on plot twists online, resulting in a full length written story. I have never heard of a book being produced in this fashion, so I was very intrigued.

I pleasantly discovered that Loser/Queen was a fun, light-hearted, comical story. It left me shaking my head and laughing out loud on several occasions. It left me guessing p...more

When this book was recommended to me on Visual Bookshelf on Facebook, I at first thought that it had been tailored to me from my previously read books, as these include some chick lit and a whole bunch of Young Adult stuff that is one of my greatest guilty pleasures. However, I see from other reviews on there that that was not the case (and I wonder if that was a mistake.)

The thing is - Loser/Queen was a great gimmick. The voting to decide what happens in the next part (although I only remembere...more

Loser/Queen was a comical, cute little story. It was predictable, but I still enjoyed the characters and situations. Apparently, the story's plot was created by fans and the author took it from there, if I understand correctly. It was adorable and I loved the characters. I have to say, I couldn't figure out who The White Rabbit was, but when they were revealed, I had a face palm moment.

Loser/Queen was a fun, lighthearted book that put a new twist on the "geek girl becomes popular" cliché. While I didn’t end up loving it, I was still thoroughly entertained by Cammy’s quest to get revenge on the popular crowd.

While Cammy does quite a lot of mean things, at the command of an anonymous texter, she does even more wonderful things. Basically, she’s killing all of the people that laughed at her with kindness. I loved that aspect; it’s new and fun and entertaining.

But there were so ma...more

I really didn't expect I'd like this book as much as I really did. When I first picked it off my bookshelf last week, I imagined it as a book about just a normal high school girl craving popularity. I didn't expect it'd have a bit of a mystery to it, as well.

So, this book is about a girl named Cammy Hall who is pretty low on the school social status...like, practically invisible. She embarrasses herself all the time and is pretty much socially awkward. That all changes when she starts to get th...more

Oops! Cammy was at a school dance, her Costco granny panties with a Christmas tree print on display for many of her classmates to see and photograph. Dying of humiliation, she figures there is no way she’ll ever move off the Loser rung of her high school’s social ladder. So much for her budding friendship with Mr. Hot Stuff Luke. At least Cammy has her best friend, Gerdi, a Danish exchange student. When an unknown person begins texting Cammy and telling her to do certain things, she does so hesi...more

It probably has something to do with the fact that I've read several like this recently, but I'm getting a little tired of the "How to Get Popular" type of book. You know the ones. They go something like this:

1. Why does everyone hate me so much?
2. I know! I'll get a makeover.
3. Yay! I'm popular! Too bad all my real friends think I'm a jerk now 'cause I threw them over at the first opportunity.
4. Oh no! All my new friends found out I'm a phony!
5. Maybe I took things too far. I'll just be myself...more

This book is a very humorous, quirky, and surprisingly unpredictable. The main character, Cammy, is a loser at her school and tired of trying to fit in. She has one friend named Gerdi who is a foreign exchange student from Denmark who never went back after 7th grade. Cammy wants to just stay quiet and in the shadows until she finishes high school. It goes well until she flashes everybody her christmas tree granny panties at her homecoming dance. Everyone sees and she's all people are talking ab...more

This novel is one of my faves, this novel is about Cammy Hall who starts the novel in her sophomore year, she's a "loser". So far she doesn't care she rather be invisible to the others. Cammy lives with her Grandparents, and is friends with the danish exchange student Gerdi. One day Cammy recieve several mysterious texts, telling her to do things, she soon learns the secrets of others, some to bring them down, some to help others. these texts help Cammy get to the top, or take revenge on the pop...more

I liked it. This book really shows how people view popularity. It really reminds me of PLL because of the whole anonymous texter thing. It's kind of annoying though how the only reason Cammy became popular was because she showed everyone a video of Becca's wig falling off. I dont think you should be popular because of your rivalries, I think you should be popular because people actually like you. I really hate all this talk about popularity because of looks, financial status, and clothing. Peopl...more

Amazing book. Cammy used to be a loser. She's a junior, and she wants to stay away from embarrassment. In a school dance, Cammy flashes her granny panties, and everyone sees it, even her long time crush. She's humiliated, and the most popular girl in her school sent pictures of her in her undies to everyone. When Cammy thought her life couldn't be any worse she gets an anonymous text message with instructions on how to get revenge and how to become popular. Cammy rises, and becomes super popular...more

I won this book on Goodreads. I entered the giveaway only based on the great book cover. However the book turned out to be a really cute book. While the book was targeted to a younger audience, I really enjoyed it and it had a good message. A fun little book that had me laughing out loud.

The book tells about Cammy, who lives with her Grandparents and is best friends with a Danish exchange student with a funny accent. Cammy is a nobody in her high school but things are about to change when Cammy...more

I haven't even read this book and I have no intentions of reading it in the future, so I can't comment on how good it actually is because I have no idea. The only reason I have added this book to my 'Already Read' list is because I'm just so sick of it appearing on my Recommendations! This seems to be the only way of getting rid of it and I'd recommend others do the same. I've just picked 'A Tale of Two Cities' to read - a dramatic tale about the French Revolution - and what does Visual Bookshel...more

Characters: I’m pretty sure the characters were either juniors or seniors in high school because some could drive, but it almost felt like they were in middle school. They were slightly immature and I just felt like the dialogue was unrealistic. Cammy wassweet and I don’t really see why she was shunned by everyone. She seemed perfectly alright to me although she was a little too eager to please everyone, especially the more popular kids. I liked Gerdi the best out of all the characters. She knew...more

I was a little apprehensive about this book but I saw it at Borders on ‘the buy one get one 50% off’ table so I figured that I would take a chance on it and pick up a copy. And while I wasn’t disappointed, I didn’t find that this was particularly special in that “holy crap” sort of way.

I thought that Cammy was slightly annoying and I really disliked her at parts in the novel. I mean, how she just let Gerdi fall by the wayside so that she could be more popular and accepted was sad. Gerdi was suc...more

From Loser to Queen to Loser to Invisible to Good book! Loser/Queen written by Jodi Lynn Anderson is the un-fairytale story of Cammy Hall, a teenage girl who is labeled “loser” by her peers. She lives with her grandparents and adapts to their way of life; early bedtimes, Golden Girls on DVD, and sensible shoes. Anyone her age would think she was a loser, even herself. She clearly knows where she ranks on the High School’s Hierarchy, and it is not on top.

In an odd sort-of Cinderalla like story, C...more

Loser/Queen had pretty much no substance to it whatsoever, but if you're in the market for a fun read, I would recommend this one.

As far as protagonists go, Cammy was a pretty good one. Her old-people-like nature makes her oddly charming and I found myself rooting for her pretty early on. However I did fine Cammy's friend Gerdi to be really annoying and she kind of bothered me throughout the story.

As far as light reads go, this book definitely didn't disappoint. Loser/Queen defini...more

What an innovative idea, writing a book this way, with readers voting on the plot.
I am a big fan of the Peaches books and hence Jodi Lynn Anderson in general and this did not disappoint. At the beginning, I was thinking it was a bit jagged, jumping all over the place, but I think I may have just been distracted.
When I found out who the White Rabbit was, and I realised their reasons, it occurred to me that the book could have ended a whole other way. Maybe what I was thinking about was supposed...more

I loved this book because it's a great mystery that I never suspected and I love the transformation of Cammy yet she figures out that it's best to be yourself and not care about the 'popular' kids because their opinions suck! XD Lol jks. but really yeah, only your own opinion matters, when someone disses you, take a deep breath make sure you're calm, then look them in the eye and say "thank you for your feedback/input!" LOL makes them frustrated!

I write books about vaguely magical peach orchards, resorts in the afterlife, enigmatic island princesses beloved by Tinkerbell, and...civics! I was an awkward and strange child who kept lots of secrets. Now I live with a sweet Basenji dog named Peanut who loves to eat shoes, and a sweet husband who is good at all the things I'm bad at, like being organized and thinking things through. I've loved...more
