Kidnapping is not unusual to top law enforcement and certainly not to the FBI.
However James Patterson has thrown a curve ball at the general kidnapping scenario. There are no threats or ransom demands of any kind. The several victims so far are gorgeous drop-dead model types that have no ties to the underworld; at least they had none before they were snatched off the street in broad daylight.
A man and woman are watching Mrs. Elizabeth, Lizzie, Connolly, gorgeous mother of three daughters, ...more

Alex Cross starts a whole new career with the FBI in this novel. Previously, he had worked as a detective for the Washington, DC Police Department. This by no means indicates a change in the type of cases he is going to be involved with, even as he is working his way thorugh training to become an official agent.
This case is one of the most intersting ones. It centers around a kidnapping scheme that is used to capture individuals for use as sexual slaves. The customers are all tied to a secre...more

I have trouble finding books that are exciting enough for me to even finish but this book was one of the very few that kept me turing the pages. this is the story of a FBI agent Alex Cross who is an amazing detctive and is on a case of many beautiful women being kiddnapped and all signs lead to one of all of the worlds ruthless criminals. So this book is about him trying to find this man that no one even knows anything about him.

In his first case as a rookie FBI agent, Alex Cross gets back to a case similar to what made his character famous in Kiss the Girls and Along Came A Spider, pure and simple, money-motivated kidnapping. This time though, a Russian gangster known as The Wolf uses a highly-secure Web chatroom to buy and sell human slaves. When an agreement is reached, some of the Wolf's "associates" kidnap the mark and the exchange is made. When a Federal Judge's wife is one of those "sold," the...more

I learned that people are demented. The last 30 pages or so were anticlimatic. There was so much build up until then and then it felt like he was just trying to finish the book, tie up loose ends, and leave room for a sequel, which he always does. And, having read the books out of order, I knew the Wolf would be back in later books. Wish I had read them in order. lol

I went through a bit of a James Patterson kick for a while back in the day so please excuse the sheer amount of his books that I've read.
I think anyone who has read his books will agree they are not difficult or challenging BUT they are entertaining and full of suspense and keep you turning pages. I've enjoyed every one of his books that I've read! Mostly on vacation or in between reading some of the longer, n...more

This is the first book of the Alex Cross series. It's about an FBI case where beautiful men and women are being kidnapped - at the request of powerful people - and sold as slaves. The mastermind of this ring is the Wolf, a former Russian Red Mafiya. No one has seen him or no one knows how looks like, but he knows almost everything. Dr. Cross is the person who will try to stop him and recover (if not rescue) those missing persons.

After an oddball with Violets are Blue and getting way off track with Four Blind Mice, Patterson gets back to Alex Cross basics with The Big Bad Wolf. Patterson apppears to have started the series over, or maybe just freshened it up, with Cross in a new role with the FBI. However, it is just as sexually violent as Four Blind Mice, and I'm wondering what is up with Patterson, as the Cross series moves ahead will the emphasis on sex and violence increase? The first several in the series were not e...more

Perhaps this book is restoring some faith from Patterson and the Cross series. As with all of the books, the concept is really cool... but it's only half a book, you'll need to read London Bridges to get the other half.
But on the positive, Cross has now had the same girl for 3 books (A much needed factor). Some of the other trends are still present, but they seem to be breaking down and it could possibly the start of something new. You'll see what I mean when you finish this and read Lond...more

This was my first Patterson book. Now I'm hooked. I was kind of pissed off at the end though. I was on train when I finished reading it and actually said "damn!!" out loud after reading the last page. I know I looked a bit crazy. I love the Alex Cross character. Now I just need to find out the name of the first book in the Alex Cross series. I am anxious to find out how his wife was killed and who how he ended up with Jamilla. If any of my friends know the name of the first book, pleas

Patterson sometimes gets a bad rap as a bit of a 'popcorn' author. Maybe it's just me but I love popcorn!
Without giving anything away it's safe to say that 'The Wolf' is back and he's out to prove to the world that his is the absolute rule of law! Everyone's favorite jazz loving, crime solving detective Alex Ross; is put to the test as the two match wits.
A must read for fans of the genre, and Patterson in particular.
Three cheers for popcorn!

I read these books because they are my mother-in-laws' favorite (and because she sends them to me to read). I really like "Along Came a Spider" and "Kiss the Girls". But it gets kind of old after a while. If you use the same characters, you can't have them change too much. It's really the same story. Although I could say the same about Janet Evanovich and her Stephanie Plum books, but I could never get tired of them :) They crack me up.

“I really enjoyed this book. There were some harder areas of reading in the beginning of it but I got through it. The book grips you right from the start and sucks you in. The book went along very smoothly and kept me interested. There are alot of shockers in this books and things that you think are happening but they really aren't. Just when you think you REALLY know what is going on. It all flips on you! Enjoy this book of Hide & Seek

This was my first Alex Cross book, and I have to say, I like the guy. This also happens to be a good place to start if you're like me and way behind the curve on the whole Alex Cross deal. He is just starting out as an FBI agent which makes you feel like you haven't missed much. This story, however, gets going real fast, but then finishes up even faster as if James got as tired of writing the novel as I did reading it.

This one took me quite a while to finish. I'm not sure why, just wasn't as into it. It was enjoyable though, pretty scary to think about being kidnapped and sold as a sex slave to some freak. I am so mad at Christine, I totlly knew that would happen. I hate that Patterson made us love her when they first got together and now she's like a home wrecker. Whatev Patterson, whatev.
