Lovely short story about Varan, a slave escaping in a horrible desert planet, and his "angel"... Tvri'il, the strange winged alien he save from death.

Heartbreaking love story, and I certainly recommend it to all romantic readers searching a sweet HEA, and a delightful couple.

Love is the strong force of universe... Fly in the wings of love...

and enjoy the reading

This one has its good qualities, and if you're not a big fan of "hard" sci-fi, you'll certainly enjoy it. Being a shorter length story did more harm than good for this one, though, in my opinion. I wanted to see more detail, world-building, and a larger plot arc. The little arc included didn't do much beyond whet my appetite for the "rest" of the story, and left me thinking, "and then what happened?"
Still, the characters are interesting; and despite the easy-out cliche of "prince rescued by paup
The prose was very purple for this book, however it kinda worked with the setting and the story. Unfortunately it's told in first-person POV which I really dislike, but it was a short book, thus easy to wade through. It didn't really hold my interest too well. I actually put the book down for a few weeks before finishing it. A fluffy, forgettable easy read.
Pretty short, all things considered, and that docked it a whole star. It's an interesting story about a former slave who was kidnapped from him home planet and manages to escape by fleeing to the desert of the planet he had been taken to. While surviving one day he discovers a winged man out in the middle of nowhere, with a broken wing. Varan sets the wing and teaches the angel how to survive. The best part about this story is watching these two people from different worlds, literally and figura ...more
Great Story!
Amazing interation between the main characters, The author did a good job portraying their differences, the wings, language...... I specially liked how they struggled to communicate. Also the way and the pace they fell for each other.

Very short yet satisfying novel.
And the cover is absolutely gorgeous.

I enjoyed the characters, but wish the book had been longer to flesh out the story.

Growing up in Chicago, Nicki Bennett spent every Saturday at the central library, losing herself in the world of books. A voracious reader, she eventually found it difficult to find enough of the kind of stories she liked to read and decided to start writing them herself.
