Picking out stories for an art event, I found many of these to be great. Many of them are so-so. Fishing, like baseball and golf (presumably), lends itself to literature because of all of the contemplation and solitude. It was somewhat like reading Patrick O'Brien or Tom Clancy (presumably) in that the ever-present technical details (fishing, sailing, flying a fighter jet) don't distract from the humanity inherent in the tales.
