Having read the previous book in the series regarding Lucy Kincaid's kidnapping, I was really excited to read about her all grown up. This is by far my favorite Allison Brennan reminded me a lot of Karen Rose.

Lucy is such a strong character. She's been through literal torture and though she has her moments of weakness, she has come through it all with determination. I loved her decision to try and help others by taking scum off the streets. Sean was a super hot, perfectly protective, r...more

My first book by this author and I must say it was very enjoyable. It started out a little slow, and it always does when I read a new author, but it certainly picked up and had many characters which kept you wondering who actually was the criminal! I will definitely be reading more in the "Lucy Kincaid" series!

Review: I received a review copy of this novel from TLC Book Tours. Many thanks to Lisa for providing me with a copy. I was really excited to receive this book, as I have been wanting to read something by Brennan for quite awhile. I had a really mixed reaction to this novel.Let's start with what I liked.

I enjoyed Brennan's writing style. It was really easy to get into the story because her writing style was very inviting. Brennan is very skilled at creating detailed settings that sprang to life...more
A tale of suspense and deep darkness of the soul. Allison Brennan brings readers a story that will captivate them from beginning to end in Love Me To Death.

Upon beginning Love Me To Death, I was hooked. The suspense and action is constant throughout the entire story, taking the reader on a journey of unending twists and turns.

It has been six years since Lucy Kincaid was brutally raped, tortured and nearly killed. Through it all, she has come out strong and determined to save others from ever su...more
I wasn't really expecting to like this book because I do not like the mixing of the romantic suspense with the more hard core thriller. I prefer to have my mystery/thrillers without having to endure the formulaic romance storyline. For a great deal of the book I was on high alert for anything that would make me want to jerk out my headphones and go on to something else.

And for quite a while it teetered on the edge. Yes, it was pretty much hit-you-in-the-nose obvious that Lucy and Sean would get...more

With sheer determination, Lucy Kincaid has beaten the odds. A one-time victim, she’s worked tirelessly to rebuild her life, focusing on her goal of joining the ranks of the FBI despite the lingering anxiety ingrained from a brutal attack and kidnapping six years prior. She survived and in a fitting twist of fate, made certain that her attacker didn’t. She’ll do what it takes to never be a victim again and try to help those that unwittingly step into predators' paths.

I came across this book while I was browsing ebooks on OverDrive, ebook library provided through my local library. I have heard of the author, but I never got around to reading her books. Love Me To Death went straight into my virtual basket. I'm a sucker for romantic suspense and it's been a while since I read a really good.

I was hooked instantly! I did not want to put this book down, which I had to, it's been a very busy few days, but whenever I could out came my ipad and I went back to readin...more

What I Loved: Allison Brennan is guaranteed to give me chills. I go into one of her books expecting it. She didn’t disappoint! I think the best part of the book was that there were two unknowns, so my mind was unable focus on one or the other. While I had an idea of who the big bad guy was, I didn’t actually know who he was. All I had was a profile.

I fell in love with Lucy when she first made her appearance. I’m as proud of who she’s become as I would be a real person. Sean Rogan is just what Lu...more
I am not sure I can blame the book or Brennan for how much I disliked it. First, it's a romantic suspense, and with very few exceptions, I hate this hybrid genre. It takes the worst elements of both genres and combines them into a goo that either makes the violence sexual or the sex violent. Thankfully, Brennan is light on the romance here and the one sex scene is segregated to a chapter that I could easily skip. It's not that I didn't like Lucy and Sean getting together, it's just that it was s...more

I have to say that I think Brennan's series about Lucy Kincaid will be my favorite. The very first book I read by her was in this series and I was hooked from the beginning. I feel I can relate to Lucy quite a bit, because the author made her a swimmer, saying she swam through high school and college. I swam for 12 years, and enjoyed it very much. I like how she introduces Lucy's relationship with Sean, because I can tell it's going to be a really good one. I can also see why Lucy's series is co...more

Let me start by saying that it only took me a day to read this book. I couldn't put it down and each time I told myself that I needed to go to bed, I kept telling myself just one more chapter. I would recommend this book to people who like a good intriguing mystery. People who like to put themselves in the role of police officer and try and figure out who the bad guys are. I had a difficult time figuring out the players in this book, which is what kept me reading throughout the night.

(reviewer's note: GoodReads locked me out of my first account, so this review is the same one I had on my old account. I'm trying to get that account deleted so there are not multiple reviews from me. Thanks!)

Allison Brennan is one of my top five favorite authors. I can't believe it took me SO LONG to start the Lucy Kincaid series. The only good thing is that I don't have to impatiently wait for the next one to come out since I'm so far behind. Although at this rate, I'm sure I'll catch up in no...more
Thank You Captain Obvious! God help me please against bad writing. Every word of this novel is a thought or conclusion I could have arrived at all on my lonesome, but this author does us all a favor by saving us the effort. So Thank You.

Normally I can't stand it when reviewers rant and tear authors down so I realize my own hypocrisy and I'm okay with it. Besides, this review has been building for days now and you know how that goes. I don't understand how this author could be on the Best Seller...more
I love the Kincaids and their crime fighting family. This series following Lucy has me quite excited and this first book did not disappoint. Another well written romantic thriller by Brennan.

I didn't enjoy Love Me To Death as much as I had expected to, but then again, maybe I'd been expecting too much considering all the great reviews I'd seen about this book. I'm going to chance that this isn't the type of book for me; nonetheless, it was well written with a great concept and story line. The characters were great as well, but at the same time, they seemed really detached from the story itself up until the halfway point. For me, it was like watching a bunch of actors trying to figur...more

I'm a long-time fan of Brennan's and I'm happy to see her return to her roots of suspense, with an added dash of romance. Lucy Kincaid, the main character in LOVE ME TO DEATH, first appeared in Brennan's book FEAR NO EVIL. On her high school graduation day, Lucy was kidnapped and held captive. She was raped while a live feed of the "event" went out on the Internet. Her brother, Dr. Dillon Kincaid, and FBI Agent Kate Donovan saved her from being killed. This first book in the Lucy Kincaid series...more
I listened to the audiobook of Allison Brennan’s Love Me To Death, narrated by Ann Marie Lee. While this review has some commentary on the plot, most of it is related to the audio aspects.

After a traumatic past involving her abduction, rape, and various life-threatening situations for her family, Lucy Kincaid is diligently pursuing her goal of becoming an FBI agent. While volunteering for Women and Children First (an exploitation prevention organization) Lucy becomes unknowingly caught up in a v...more
This was an absolute great read! I knew that Lucy was going to be a strong woman after what she went through in the book Fear No Evil. Lucy has her life back after those horrible events. Better yet, she is doing her part to ensure that she is getting online predators off the street and keeping them off.

Strange thing though, one of the guys that she was finessing online to see if he was going to break parole, but instead he ends up dead. Now once Lucy starts digging she realizes that there maybe...more
I've read a few of Brennan's trilogies, but I think I might have missed one. Although this is the first book in a series, I think it's related to one or more of her other series books. I remember a few of the characters, but some I found myself trying to place and I had a hard time doing it. It didn't really effect my understanding of the story but it was a little bothersome because I would occasionally find myself thinking about where a character was from rather than focusing on the story itsel...more

I really like it. It's not a GREAT book, though. I wouldn't recommend it to everybody. I haven't read a LOT of these kinds of books but I know I've read better.

At times, it was slow and repetitive.
The writing isn't... that good. But it didn't bother me. And I'm a sucker for stories told from multiple points of view, so bonus points for that.
I liked the characters. Although they were pretty generic, I still got attached to them.
In my opinion, the parts with more action were the best parts of t...more

This book had a ton of twists and turns and a large cast of characters. As I read I could tell that many of these characters were probably in other books, so while this one says #1, it seems like there are related series, and it is for this fact that the book looses 1 star from me. I do plan on going back and checking out those other books and characters.

Lucy sure has had a past filled with events to really make a person question the old saying, "The world won't give you any more than you can ha...more
I'm nearly finished, but it has been difficult to continue this book. I love Allison Brennan's prose in the books that followed 'Love Me to Death'. Thankfully, I read those first...if I started with this one, I wouldn't have given any of her other books a chance.

The plot is fabulous, but there is entirely too much romantic focus with the lead characters. So much so, that at times it reads like a true romance novel. I'm not a fan of romance and I find that this aspect takes away from the heroine...more

Lucy Kincaid graduated from college with a double major in psychology and computer science, has interned with the United States Senate and Arlington County Sheriff’s Department, and currently works as both an intern with the D.C. Medical Examiner’s Office and volunteer for Women and Children First! (WCF), an organization dedicated to fighting the sexual exploitation of women and children.

It’s an impressive string of accomplishments for anyone, but doubly so for Lucy. Six years ago she was abduct...more
