why'd that prince go kiss her when he thought he thought she was dead? That's messed up!
I'm a fan of the Little Golden Books. Reading this one for the quazillionest time and still liking it. It's E's all time favorite and now S loves it too. Heigh-ho heigh-ho!
I read the Disney picture book version of this story, and just out of curiosity I read the Brothers Grim version of the story. I had a friend who told me about how the original translations of their stories are pretty insane, and seemed to have been written to scare young children into good morals. I think the version I read was still cleaned up a bit from the original, but there was still one part that was included that I can definitely see why it was cut out of the Disney version. The stepmoth...more
The story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs written by Walt Disney is an adorable book that children would enjoy reading. This is a fairy tale that children can imagine themselves in the book. This story is about Snow White who becomes the fairest of them all with, “Lips red as a rose, hair black as ebony, skin white as snow…” The queen hires a huntsman to kill Snow white. She runs away and finds a cottage full, later realizing the house belonged to seven dwarfs: Doc, Bashful, Sneezy, Sleepy, H...more
The Magic Mirror informs the Queen that Snow White is now the fairest in the land. The jealous Queen orders a reluctant huntsman to take Snow White into the woods and kill her. She further demands that the huntsman return with Snow White's heart in a jeweled box as proof of the deed. The huntsman encounters Snow White but decides not to harm her. He tearfully begs for her forgiveness and urges her to flee into the woods and never come back, bringing back a pig's heart instead.

In an effort to make comparisons easier, I'm consolidating three reviews for three different editions of Snow White. First, the recap: The Queen is a very vain woman, not happy to see her step-daughter's beauty eclipse her own, so when her mirror finally confirms the dreaded reality, she sends the huntsman into the woods with Snow White with orders to kill her. The huntsman can't bring himself to do it, so he warns her and tells her to run, which she does. Finding a small house, with the hel...more

The Walt Disney company has created an empire out of stories that people of all ages can love. The illustrations are pictures taken straight from the movie. They are very detailed paintings of snow white and her story. The font in the book is large enough, however the story would need to be read aloud because of the length of the story.
Drama
Students could read book then watch the movie

Not one of my favorite of Walt Disney's stories, but I still like it because it is a fairytale story. Once again the princess lives happily ever after with her prince charming. It shows that we go through trials and tough times in life and there are people who do not want us to succeed, but if we persevere, then we can make it through.
We own four of these little Disney books that retell the stories of movies, and this was the last one for me to read to Natalie. I didn't think the illustrations captured the beauty of the film as well in this one as in Sleeping Beauty, but they still tell the story well. I didn't like how Snow White was so trusting of the witch when she had just been warned about strangers. Also, of all the classic fairy tales, this one does have the most limited view of women - evil and vain or pretty, swee...more
I have grown tired of these Disney books. Our girls, however, never seem to get bored with them. Our youngest brought this one home from her school library, so I dutifully read it. At least it was the board book version and mercifully short.
Classic story about a princess who is force to flee because of her evil stepmother's envy. It will help student learn that it is not good to envy people.
Yea, yea, I know.. a kids book. I was teaching a bunch of four and five year-olds about this story so I figured I'd log it.
I miss my childhood. A book to remember what will never return, but never be forgotten.
Snow White and the seven dwarfs is a traditional tale of good and evil. The seven dwarfs find snow white in the woods and she becomes their caretaker. The evil witch is out to get her for being so much prettier than herself. Will love or evil triumph?
In traditional tales, a teacher could discuss story elements and create a story map with students. A teacher could also have students come up with a different ending to the story.

My Aunt bought me this book when I was young. I loved to pretend that all my work made me beautiful. I longed to be as fair as her (especially the hair although I was blond.) When I went through an artistic flair I ripped a couple pages of the princess out. But the enjoyment did not stop their in the book it has pictures of the dwarfs whittling. I started whittleing soap and then some wood. I guess you could say I got enjoyment out of this book in more ways then expected.
This is a toned down version of the classic tale.
