This Little Prayer of Mine is a simple child's book about prayer; a prayer from the perspective of two children as they go through a day in their life. They ask God to help them not be afraid, to not be sad, to turn to God for help, to forgive them of wrong, and more. It is a sweet introduction to prayer for children.

This book is beautifully written in poetry, but still flows well enough to be an easy-read book without sounding silly. I like the simple words and situations that are ea

In a world as unpredictable as the one we live in today it is ever most important to make sure our children have a relationship with God.
I feel that this book helps us, as parents/guardians/grandparents, achieve that goal.
I love reading this book to my children, and I am going to be recommending it to our church as well.
The story is so simple, and yet so heartwarming. The lessons and examples are packed into such small phrases! I loved that the words just flow with little effort, and your childr

This Little Prayer of Mine written by Anthony DeStefano with illustrations by Mark Elliot is a book for young readers full of faith, hope and prayer. With its rhyming verse, the book does a wonderful job of bringing in the various aspects of prayer into a typical child’s day. There are different trials, joys and the reminder for all the things to be thankful for.
A particularly poignant part of the book showed a scene where a boy is all alone while all the other kids are hanging out without him

This Little Prayer of Mine by Anthony DeStefano is a beautiful hardcover picture book. The author writes a prayer in rhyme from the perspective of a child. The main characters (nameless so they can be any child) are a boy (about 7-9 yrs old) and his sister (about 4-6 yrs old). DeStefano teaches the multiple aspects of prayer through the story long prayer. He includes confession (forgive me, God), thanksgiving (thank you for a bunch of other stuff) and supplication (please help me to be brave and ...more

This Little Prayer of Mine is a beautiful prayer book that every kid—and parent—should read and pray. It gets down into the heart, disclosing what's really there and how we all really feel. I was surprised how much I as an 18 year old related to this book. I pray the same prayers—though not in such beautiful verse—as this prayer.

It targets just about everything: the biblical command to be joyful: "help me to be happy," the search for the God's will: "show me what the right path is and help me f

I think This Little Prayer of Mine is precious, and I definitely plan on keeping it on our bookshelf. That said, I knew about some of the issues others had with it. At one point a child asks if God will listen to his prayer, and another point where the child asks if God will love him forevermore. Of course! God will always listen to a child's prayer and He loves us all no matter what. I honestly didn't have an issue with it, but some of you might.

While I don't really care for "memorized" prayers

This is a book of children praying to God about things in their life. Some of the things they are praying to God about is fear, sadness, making the right choices, forgiveness, being alone, helping people, and their future. I like that this book is teaching the young reader that God is in Heaven and they can pray to Him about anything at anytime and He can her them. The pictures are beautiful, the cover is beautiful, inviting any child to pick up the book to pray.

While intended as a prayer book for children, there are so many parts of this book that apply to my life even now as a full blown adult!

Using a sweet and rhythmic style, Anthony DeStefano relays his message in a way that children will understand. He parallels his little prayer to everyday situations that are relatable to children as well as adults. His delicate manner of writing will help any child to see that he or she can call on God anytime they may need His love. He also includes the importa

This Little Prayer of Mine by Anthony DeStefano and Mark Elliot is the perfect read for bedtime. First Mia's review: The book is a prayer to God. It's something that I would say to Him. The picture of the little boy being left alone by his friends made me feel sad. I thought the pictures were very pretty. I liked that there was a picture of a pilot in it, because I want to be a pilot when I grow up. Now my review: I thought this book was fantastic, because it shows children that they can pray to ...more

This Little Prayer of Mine is a wonderful book. The illustrations by Mark Elliott make it a beautiful book. I enjoyed its simple message about prayer. Telling a child they can talk to God and then giving them no instruction about how to do that leads them to give up on praying. This simple book illustrates through words and pictures how simple it can be to talk to God. It also shows them that you don’t have to talk to God only when you want something. You can ask God to give you strength, to ...more

I thought that this was a great book for teaching children what they can pray for! It shows them that we can pray for all kinds of things; it teaches them how to make their prayers personal and meaningful. That being said, there was one page that was a little bit interesting... It said:
"And if you give me riches, God,
that fill a treasure chest,
I promise to be generous
And share what I possess."
While I think that the author had good intentions here, his page seemed to imply that we only need to gi

I liked how this book showed children talking to God and learning to pray. Through the text the children were recognizing that what is really important in the world is our relationship with others and God and not material items. The illustrations went well with the text and added to the story. I think this is a message that even as adults we sometimes forget. When I attended church this past weekend with my children they each received a plastic egg with a few surprises inside. My daughters ...more

I won this book and was very excited to share it with my daughter (almost 3) who is just really starting to learn prayers and wonder who God is. This book is a little gem that explains to little ones (and adults alike) that God will be there with you every step of the way throughout your entire life. My daughter acted out emotions discussed in this book (sad, happy, etc) and touches every picture as we read. This is a book we have added to our bedtime routine and we both love it! This book is a delightful read that shows the reader, with rhymes and illustrations, that God is always around us and shares with us our happiness, feelings of sadness and that we know that God will be there for us whenever we need Him. The book is just the right size for a little one to keep a childs wandering interest and has beautiful illustrations to aid in the telling of the story that also teaches a child of any denomination how to pray. Almost anyone who prays or has ever prayed, remembers their prayers from when they were kids. Most have grown up with one that was repeated over and over. That provides comfort and security to remember that. This is a great one because it covers everything that a little one could be feeling and thinking about. It is more than a prayer, it almost forms a conversation with God. It also could be easily adapted and even fit adults with makes sense for anyone who believe

When it comes to prayers for children, this book is one I'd want to have at my own house to read with my own kids. I thought it did a great job talking about what would be in a prayer and why. And, as always, I'm a sucker for rhyming. I just really liked how it mentioned all the different reasons you could pray, and what you could pray for to help you out. Especially for prayers for little kids, such as praying for happiness when you feel sad or patience when you feel angry. I just thought the ...more

This is a super cute, sweet book that any child would enjoy. It's simply a prayer from a child with a tender heart to God. This would be a great read anytime of the day and could easily teach a small child how to pray. My favorite part of this book is the illustrations though! They are so vibrant it's almost as if they are jumping off the page at you! Highly recommended!

This Little Prayer of Mine is a favorite bedtime book of any child. This book shows that children can have the confidence to ask God for things they want or need and also ask for forgiveness when they act badly. It also shows the friendship that develops between God and a child and how easy and natural it is talking to God.

The beautiful illustration by Mark Elliott is visually understood and shows the message of prayers. This book is endorsed by the National Day of Prayer. I highly recommend thi

This Little Prayer of Mine is a book full of wonderful pictures that spark the imagination and with a few words per page it really allows a child to take in and fully absorb the message within. It is never too early to start teaching your children how to pray and that their prayers, as are all prayers, are important to God. This book is a perfect tool to help in teaching that lesson. This would be a great book for bedtime or anytime, or even a good one to memorize.

Great rhyming book for little ones to find things they can pray about:

A little boy is in bed at night, scared . . .
"Whenever I feel really scared and want to hide my head,
please help me to be brave and strong and face my fears instead."

A little girl's dog bit the arm off her doll but her brother helps her fix it . . .
"And when my heart is very sad, and tears roll down my face,
please help me to be happy so a smile can take their place."

This may not be a book that is allowed in the school, but something I would definitely want to read with my kids. It had great illustrations and a story line. Reading this made me reflect on what I am grateful for in my own life and what I would say in my personal prayers. I felt warm reading this and gave me the sense that I too was special and important. He hears my prayers too. This story gives us different insights of my own life and what I can do to be a better child.

We read this as a family at bedtime. The writing is simple which I love because it is intended for small children. So not only do we read it together my daughter can also read it alone. We also really enjoyed the illustrations. The book helps children know how to pray over little pitfalls in life. It reinforces what we teach them as well as what they learn in church. We really love this little gem.

This children's prayer picture book, written from a young child's point of view, emphasizes turning to God in all things - fear, sadness, joy, thanksgiving, etc. My preschoolers enjoy incorporating it into our nighttime prayers on occasion. The illustrations are warm and engaging, contributing to the personal, informal nature of the prayer.

I received a complimentary copy from the author and publisher.
