I love Star Wars. And despite everything George Lucas has done to demolish my childhood love of that original trilogy of movies, I can't help but still love it. My sons have that same love, and although their love is nonjudgmental enough to include Jar Jar Binks and computer generated effects, I recognize that love as the same.

I saw the Scanimation book Star Wars: 11 Iconic Scenes from a Galaxy Far, Far Away in a bookstore on vacation earlier this summer, and picked it up. It was initially as a

I originally was going to give this book three stars, but had to move it down. I was so disappointed by this book. I love the scanimation pictures in the other books, especially the Gallope and Waddle. But, the pictures in this book weren't as clear. Some of the choices of scenes to include in the book weren't that great either. The best two were Luke and Vader and the one with Darth Maul. There was a little text on the opposite page, but it wasn't that spectacular either. Each one had a quotati ...more

I happened upon this little book in my local B&N and decided if I could find it on sale somewhere I would pick it up (since I am a Star Wars fan). Luckily I was able to find the book for half price. After flipping through this I am glad I did, because about only half the book was worth the price I paid. The two scenes from The Empire Strikes Back are by the best of the lot, followed closely by the last which is the Millennium Falcon escaping from an exploding Death Star (Return of the Jedi) ...more

Star Wars + Scanimation = surefire hit. I expect to never see this again once I check it in. It's silver, the battles move, and there are explosions of color when the light sabers clash (which is an improvement over the previous three Scanimation books). Includes quotes and summaries of what's happening in each scene that's depicted.

Super cool book. Sedar actually brings eleven famous scenes from all six Star Wars movies to life! While the graphics are super cool, I found the quotes from the depicted scenes to be the highlight of the book.
David English
cool book.. a MUST if you are a star wars fan, and to turn the pages and see the scenes is really cool..

This could my favorite book i have discovered so far. Star Wars: A Scanimation Book: Iconic Scenes from a Galaxy Far, Far Away... by Rufus Butler Seder is a book with 11 of some of the most memorable scenes from the two star wars trilogies. The Book itself is close to square and is very thick as the pages are made up what feels like a card board. As we open the book each page on the The book consists of moving images on the right side of the page break and on the left side we have the memorial q ...more

Each scanimation page has a classic Star Wars scene that appears to come to life as the reader turns the page. On each facing page there is a quote from that scene or from a major character or a description of the scene, the characters involved, and which film. This book is amazing considering the way the pages come to life simply by turning the pages. I think this would be especially amazing for kids to see pieces form a classic film series in the new and innovative way. It relies heavily upon ...more

The images in this are difficult to make out, but a cute book nonetheless. Good for Star Wars fans.

A great new scanimation book. Love the Star Wars pictures, quotes, and reference to movie. A great gift for Star Wars fans of all ages.

...just awesome... scanimation is like watching a moving picture in a book ... and to do it with Star Wars is amazing... don't think- just get it!
Monica
The pictures are really hard to see, and it seems like they made a point of including only the most obscure and uninteresting quotes from the movies.

I was going to give it 1 star, but I'll give it 2 because my son apparently REALLY enjoys flipping the pages back and forth.

Oooh! Shiny!
I love the moving pictures -- and the shiny silver cover!
I love the novelty.
Fans will love it.
Others (non-fans) will roll their eyes and move on (the book wasn't made for them, any how...)
Did I mention how shiny the cover is?....

I really like these types of books. Plues I am a Star Wars junky. The scanimation is a big favorite of mine, but the books themselves tend not to last too long, very fragile things in general. Still a big hit while they last!

This book blew my mind the moment I flipped the first page. It was that amazing. I just wish there were a lot more pages and for that I'm giving this book a 4 out of 5 stars.

A very clever book. I love how those pictures are just so realisic. Although it doesn't have many words, it's still a great book for all Star Wars fans.
Turrean
Definitely a " marginal" purchase, but lots of fun for the diehard Star Wars fan. I have lots of students who would just eat this up.

AWESOME. my edition is in portuguese and I don't speak portuguese, so it makes the quotes oddly amusing sometimes.
Stacey Mulholland
I think Jacob picked this because he knows the book series, he was confused by the images.
Natalie
Really liked the concept. Too much of the prequels and not enough of the classic Star Wars.
Esmeralda
These are not the best scenes or quotes from the movies. The pictures are not very clear.
Courtney
This is one Bobo actually picked out off the shelf on his own.

Buy one.

Then buy one for all of your friends.

Still clever, but does not compare to the Wizard of Oz scanimation.
