Apparently short, illustrated humor pieces describing the humdrum life of a doofus in barracks were a popular genre towards the end of WWI, as I've come across more than a few. This one is fairly insubstantial and seems more dedicated to reassuring potential conscripts and those left at home that things were OK rather than to the sake of the humor itself, as in some of the others.
