Numa época nimbada ainda do espírito vitoriano, o poeta, romancista e pintor D.H.

D.H. Lawrence narra, num to

A good short story, that got a lot more interesting towards the end, though I still feel the pacing was all over the place-- at first, it's quite slow but then all the "good" bits, as it were, seem to tumble down on you quite rapidly, and you have almost no time to take them all in. The backcover tells me that the Princess is a typical D. H. Lawrence woman, which does make me want to read more of his books.

Btw, I must note this: I am reading a lot of short stories, yes, but I do not feel that ch

A classic example of Lawrence's writing style: descriptive, unpredictable, and positively weird.
A story that starts with the tale of a somewhat unique and peculiar relationship between a father and his daughter, quickly goes dark when new characters come into the picture and it evolves into a story about an unrequited physical relationship, and consequently, crime.
3.5 stars!

(Discarding the way the writer sometimes plays with words in this book, which I am not very fond of, I was enjoying the world created between the dad and his Princess. But then Romero got in it and ruined everything. And the ending chosen was utterly disappointing for that fae.)

David Herbert Richards Lawrence was an English writer of the 20th century, whose prolific and diverse output included novels, short stories, poems, plays, essays, travel books, paintings, translations, literary criticism and personal letters. His collected works represent an extended reflection upon the dehumanizing effects of modernity and industrialisation. In them, Lawrence confronts issues rel ...more
