Amethyst Destiny is the second book in Pamela Montgomerie's Jewels of Time series. Julia Brodie is sent back through time to 1688 after her cousin gives her a special necklace. She finds herself in a castle in Scotland standing before a man who believes he is responsible for her time-travel. Talon, known as the wizard thinks the magical ring he wears brought her to him in order to help him find a lamp. Julia and Talon work together to find the lamp and send her back home, but they both harbor fe ...more
Paranormal Romance
A woman is thrust back in time by an amulet given to her but her time traveling cousin. She immediately encounters a very hansom thief who actually saves her from the guards and secrets her away. The thief is in possession of his own magic in the form of a ring which grants him whatever he wants. But it's fickle and most often he must rely on himself to keep out of danger. The hero is charming, charismatic but inside he wrestles with a dark past and is not an entirely a good man if his professio ...more

I liked this book, but not as much as the previous book. And here's why. **SPOILER** One of the main plots running through this book was the hero's background. He was ashamed of his beaten and teased and generally put down until he got the ring. He didn't want to tell anyone about it, especially the heroine, because he was afraid she wouldn't like seeing him in that light. Again and again in the book, he thinks to himself that no one knows the real Talon MacClure. I waited very patiently for his ...more

Amethyst Destiny is the second book in Montgomerie's time travel romance series and tells the story of Julia, a 21st century independent woman who has never needed anyone and suddenly finds herself in 1688 Scotland w/ her only hope being a charming, yet frustrating, man known as The Wizard. Overall, I enjoyed the story and it's characters, and loved watching the romance develop between the two main characters. It was fun to see how two people who felt they were better off alone came to find true ...more

Julia Brodie puts on a necklace given to her by her Scottish cousin, ignoring the warning that she must not wear it until she’s safely back in the States. In the next instant, she’s in a Scottish castle in the seventeenth century. Talon, known as the Wizard for his ability to track things, recognizes that the women in strange clothing plays a part in his current quest to find a mysterious chalice. Will this object bring them more peril when they locate it, or is the chalice tied in with the magi ...more

Amethyst Destiny is a surprisingly emotionally captivating novel.

While Julie Brodie and Talon McClure are driven by their pasts to become who they are today, they (mostly) let their emotions instead of their pasts guide their actions. I cannot help but go along on the roller coaster of time travel and romance that is their lives. And boy, what a ride it was!

Talon, in particular, evokes very strong feelings as the hero of the story. His own past and his struggles to overcome it alone makes the p

Really enjoyed Amethyst Destiny. Hope more Jewels of Time books will follow, there was no indication at the end of this story even with the references to the missing jewels and bringing them back. Hegarty has collected 3 stones, Sapphire (Sapphire Dream - Brenna), Amethyst and Purple Garnet (Amethyst Destiny - Talon and Julia), how many more? Nothing listed in upcoming releases for 2010 - 2011 : (

Wish we could give half stars - I'd really give this book 3.5 stars. I loved the main characters! Great humor and chemistry between them. They both had interesting backgrounds; and I loved the fact that the sexual tensions between them kept building, yet Julia wasn't a typical character that gave into Talon every time and she stood her ground. Good intrigue and adventure too; with an interesting twist of magic. Plus being based in Scotland all made for a fun read.

the first book was a stronger plot and had better action. this one relied too heavily on the magic and I just didn't care about the H/H. Talon was too tied to the magic to see his own worth. Julia was ok but I didn't really connect with this one. Nice to see Brenna and Roarke but even their character seemed off.

The first book in this series, "Sapphire Dream", is a fantastic read! "Amethyst Destiny" has a we Dream", is a fantastic read! "Amethyst Destiny" has a well-developed hero and heroine, but suffers from a sloppy ending. I think I need to go back and re-read the last few pages due to quick scene changes and choppy sentence structure. Still, this second book was a strong sequel.

I get to read Pam's books first -- even before her editor does -- which makes me a very lucky reader. This is a wonderful follow up to Saphire Dream. If you love a good time-travel romance, historic Scotland, and a great adventure plot, this book needs to go on your to-be-read list right now.

I really liked this book - it had mystery, humor, suspense, romance. I liked how the author mixed the current world with one from a couple hundred years ago. It was a nice fantasy!
