The Way Of The Shepherd by William Pentak and Dr. Kevin Leman was a joy to read and really made me think. It comes from an interview between Mr. Pentak and Mr. Theodore (Ted) McBride, then CEO of General Technologies. It's roots lay much deeper in training Mr. McBride had with one of his professors as he was first to become a manager. The nuggets of truth on how to care for and lead people are telling and reveal something about the shepherd analogies in the Bible.

This is a great culture-setting leadership guide. I use this books to on-board both veteran and first-time leaders at all levels of our organization. I'm often asked about using it because of its "Christian theme". Well, it is published by Zondervan, and clearly Christianity is replete with references to shepherding, but this book does not use any religious references, and the content is not in any way off-putting to any faith tradition, so far as I can tell. It is a leadership fab...more
One of the best leadership books I've read. It is presented as a biographical story that is very easy to get into. It is not always easy, for me, to look forward to reading this type of book, but I found myself actually picking this over fiction works that I was reading at the time.
My boss loaned me this book, which was a gift from her boss. Excellent. Based on Phillip Keller's A Shepherd's Look at the 23rd Psalm. Rod, staff, trust, correction, keep moving in right direction.
This was a very easy and fast read loaded with leadership nuggets. I feel my "flock" is better off now that I have read this book and understand how to lead them.
wow, a practical yet very profound book on shepherding...whether you are a pastor, ministry or boss...this book is a MUST read for you...
OK, I thought this book had some really important info that I'm glad I gained, but it was written a little bit on the cheesy side.
This book addresses leadership through the use of a common Biblical metaphor - that of the shepherd - but with a twist. A young man who wishes to be successful in the business world asks an extremely successful businessman to mentor him. He is surprised when he is not taken into board rooms but into a field of ship, and so the education begins. Accessible to anyone, this book does a great job of laying down principles of leadership that will reform any business owner, boss, leader, or husband of...more
A quick read, but excellent management book. One of the better ones out there and one I wish some former managers had read.
This was an excellent book, a must read for anyone in leadership. It was short, to the point and powerful.
This is a must read. I enjoyed spending time with the President of Sandy Cove Ministries, Mark Fisher, discussing this book. I will use this book, with the next staff God gives me to Shepherd.
every leader should learn from the great shepherd himself "Jesus"

Great views on leadership and excellent analogies on how people are like sheep and how to manage them effectively.
The sheep metaphor is a little weird, and made me a little uncomfortable to think of people I manage as sheep, but the author makes it work and maintains it to the end. There was great insight and best practice advice to learn from this read. I'd recommend it not only for managers of people, but anyone who wants to be a good leader or mentor, parents included.
Excellent...
Easy to read, easy to understand, hard to practice book on leading, the shepherd way. If it was easy, every leader would use it.
Everyone in any kind of leadership position should read this book. Very well-written and engaging.
Wonderful book about leadership.
