"When We Make Our Dinosaur" is a universal wishlist. The "dinosaur" premise might be anything (a wonderful life, fame, etc.) depending on who is reading it. Or it may just have been a pet dinosaur. A dinosaur so rare it is attainable, allowing itself to be domesticated.
