This is probably Lenin's worst written book, both from a literary and political point of view. From this book came the myth of Lenin's "conspiratorial party" of "professional revolutionaries", which has been taken out of historical context and applied uncritically by so-called Bolshevik groups. An important historical document (for all that no party exactly like this was ever built in Russia before the revolution) but ultimately flawed and in no way a blueprint for building a socialist alternative in the 21st century. My cry is Luxembourg, Luxembourg, Luxembourg!

Very useful and enlightening, if read within an understanding of the context in which Lenin was writing (otherwise, it makes no sense).
