A simple fictional story that teaches many valuable lessons about life as an entrepreneur. The style is very similar to The One Minute Manager, except that this story seems more realistic because of the character development and real-life people who appear in it. We're introduced to the main character in his high school years, and follow him as he starts a business. As he deals with the victories and defeats of running his business, he learns many important concepts of personal and professional More...

I went into this book really wanting to like it. I was expecting many practical, hard-hitting nuggets of advice about starting and running a business. While there were some, I never felt like I was reading the same book that was advertised on the cover.

The One Minute Entrepreneur is written in the form of a story about a young man looking for direction in his life. After getting arrested for being in a high school friend's car where drugs were found, he goes to work for a motivationa More...

I've really come to appreciate the narrative style to learning than the Blanchard line of books use. This journey of a budding entrepreneur was relatively high-level, but fun, quick, and the major point were very clear.

I did listen to the audiobook version and afterward had wished I owned a hard copy to take a few more notes. However, this book ties well into the other Blanchard-esque/One-Minute type books so it was added on a baseline of solid foundations.

This book tells the story of an "average joe" who has a dream of owning a company. The book is useful with regard to its constant onslaught of recommended sales and marketing techniques; however, the pursued business venture in the story is kind of bizarre. The main character strives to become a speaker who tells others how to start a business. That is it. He goes around and speaks all day. Kind of a strange career path that most of us would not think of seeking. But the story go More...

I've been listening to audio versions of motivational books lately since I often spend two hours driving a day. I picked up One Minute Entrepreneur and for the first third of it, I did feel pretty charged--things I knew but had forgotten about time management, customer service, surrounding yourself with people who inspire you, etc.

I did like the aspect of the book of summarizing other gurus, because this gave me ideas about who to read next.

The simplistic story the insights h More...

I've been reading a ton of small business/entrepreneur books lately and while this one had a few nuggets of wisdom, it was indeed just that-a few nuggets. I found it ironic that they have this title and waste what precious little time a small business owner has by weaving a yarn about someone's life story and telling it through rosy-glasses. One Minute Entrepreneur could actually be the 30-second Entrepreneur.

Visit the library and just read the observations at the end of each chapte More...

This is a short, animated read about an enthusiastic guy who dreams and then achieves success as a business owner. The narration is a bit elementary and melo-dramatic most times, but overall gets the message across that, yes, to be successful you have to surround yourself with the right people and you must keep your core principles in check. For anyone questioning the how, what, where and when of starting a company, this is a good book to get you started. For those already past that point, maybe More...

This was an amazing book that made you THINK! As an entrepreneur and a professor, I always strive to read books focused on enhancing my business and my ability to enhance class through analogies and examples from books. The One Minute Entrepreneur met my needs! It was a easy book to read in a day! Also, we adopted many strategies from this book in my business this week!!! Wonderful non-fiction book!

The is one long story about one man's road of owning his own business. The story if filled with insights for all phases of the entrepreneurial experience. Most of it is common sense - like always have more money coming in than going out. It is a quick read and a good one if you want a brief overview of the life span of owning your own business.

In wanting to start our business, I've decided to throw in a few business books- That's how I've come across this one- borrowed from the library-Very interesting story of a man who starts his own business and almost loses it (twice). His business ends up being successful. If the business gets off the ground I'd like to pick this book up as a resource in coninuing to succeed.

I did not find anything terribly original about this book. The narrative was a little hokey. The most thought provoking line in the entire book was, "At any given moment, we are becoming the average of the five people we spend the most time with..."

I gained many insights after reading this book - of particular significance was the author's assertion that a good life is lived when one gives generously of one's wealth, time and talent

Very quick read (that's why they say "One Minute"), but the stories included in the book really help related the great ideas into your real life business.

I began listening to this audio book, which is presented in a "story" format. This turned me off, as I would prefer that the author just give me the facts, or find another way to explain without elaborating upon the fictitious details of fictitious persons' lives for the sake of creating an engaging "story." Maybe I'll try again later.

I've enjoyed many of Ken Blanchard's books - quick and practical tips. As with any aspect in life, he seems to write about starting and always coming back to the basics. Some of the tips include building a solid foundation, current and future sources of revenues (not resting on your laurels), recruiting and retaining talent and offering superior service. Basics but it seems like the basics in life are what really create success and happiness.
