Karen McQuestion (Goodreads Author)

Now while her parents work at their toy company, she can spend time with Grammy instead of going to bossy Paul's house. I'll be honest. Brutally so. I saw this book and bought it, but in the back of my head I was saying, "Oh really, the lady that wrote that amazing adult women's fiction book, A Scattered Life, wrote a fairy tale for kids? Really? Jumping the shark much? Well, let's put this suckfest to the side to read later." *hangs head in shame* The author stopped by my blog and left a comment and we ended up exchanging a tweet or two when she emailed me asking if I would like a free review copy of Celia and t...more

I really did try to read this with my kiddos (5 year old twin boys and 4 year old daughter) but found it frustrating having to stop reading! I wanted to know what was gonna happen! So, I totally finished it without them! ;-). I loved it! I would love to read more about grammy's story (what did she wish for??) and other fairy charges on the block! It was a really cute book and I'm looking forward to reading it slowly with the kids soon.

Celia and the Fairies by Karen McQuestion is a book for young readers that will delight the imagination and enchant the reader through ever page.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! What a delightful tale, spun with intrigue, danger, fairies, a villainous lady whose family is linked through generations with Celia’s family, and the bravery of a little girl who is the only one capable of saving her family home and the Watching Woods.

Adorable! Celia's grandmother has moved in with her family, but her parents warn Celia not to listen to Grandma's stories about fairies because they aren't real. Celia soon finds out otherwise, but having fairies in her life doesn't make it any easier; in fact, now she's got more responsibility than ever. A smart, simple story that teaches great lessons about greed and doing the right thing.
I read this book because it was recommended to me by a coworker. Now, I’ll admit that I had gone into it unaware that it was a children’s book (Looking back on things, I should have known) and equally unaware of my coworker’s typical book choices. Regardless of the near zero likelihood that I would have picked up this book had it lacked a recommendation, I still found it to be an amusing and cute read.

This delightful gem of a story almost got lost on my Kindle. I just happened across a sample that I had downloaded. I was hooked right from the start.
It reminded me a little bit of the Fablehaven series. The writing was well done and the story flowed easily. I read the book in about two hours.

I actually got this for my Kindle some time ago. It was one of those impulsive initial purchases I made right when I got my Kindle; for 0.99 cents it was a great deal. This Ended up being a fantastic book. A great fairy tale for the middle grade or younger set that touches on issues of responsibility, greed, environment and friendship. I enjoyed this book a lot.

I originally discovered this book after reading "A Scattered Life" by the same author. Initially it was available for .99 on the Kindle, by the time I got around to downloading it the price jumped up to $2.99, still very reasonably priced for an ebook these days.

Celia's family has a special history with fairies, and now it is her turn to use fairy magic to do good.
While I adore stories that incorporate the fey into the real world, this one fell short for me. Yes, its target audience was children, but the "moral" was dealt in a very heavy handed manner. It was a quick read, so maybe it would be a good introduction into urban fantasy for younger readers.

This book was free for my Kindle. I need to stop reading books just because they are free. I'm being too cheap and suffering the consiquences.
I would probably give this more of a 1.5 stars, but it wont let me. The writing was well done, certently much better then I could ever do. I understand that this is a story written for a younger audience, but I didn't care for it.

A good light choice to read as my last of the summer, Celia and the Fairies is listed as Young Adult. It was a delightful twist with just enough surprises to make it a bit unpredictable from the traditional fairy story while maintaining all the elements. I would say that the text and content would be more suitable to a younger child than YA. I could see my daughter and I reading this together before she went to bed when she was in second, maybe third grade. Nonetheless, I would rate this book de...more
Celia and the Fairies was a cute story about good deeds, negative thoughts, and magic. This was a quick read and I would read another book by Karen McQuestion. I wish we could all go back to when we were kids. Things were so much easier. :) Celia is a great character (both the young Celia and the older Celia).
A well told story of a little girl and her encounters with fairies. I loved how the story went from grandmother, to son, and to Celia. The characters are charming and seem to just pop off the page. This is a good read for any age. It is a good story to read to your children with a very good message.
This book is so beautiful and uplifting for any age group reading it made me feel like i was a child again full of wonder and dreams with great characters and such a positive story stick with long after you read it Karen McQuestion has done it again. You will treasure having this book in your collection.
This is just a fairly short, cute little story about a young girl and her encounter with some helpful little fairies, who live the woods behind her house. Charming - you can't help but smile after you read this.
