Things aren't pretty for Emerson Watts.

Em was sure there couldn't be anything worse than being a brainiac the body of a teenaged supermodel.

But it turned out she was wrong. Because that supermodel could turn out to have a mother who's gone mysteriously missing, a brother who's shown up on her doorstep demanding answers, a former best friend who's intent on destroying Sta...more

If there's one thing Meg Cabot is good at doing, it's making you really something strongly (not necessarily in a good way.)

From the first book in this series, I thought Em Watts was a opinionated tomboy or feminist. She appeared classy and amusing in once, and her feelings felt like yours--you could literally feel her desperation.

However in most parts of this book, Em appeared as really annoying. I understand this was supposed to add humor, but it got really irritating. I mean, "The thing was, i...more

Being Nikki starts right where we left off in Airhead. Let’s me just start out saying that this novel was nothing like I expected it to be. I was expecting more of the Airhead plot... with Nikki balancing her new life, going to high school, being a model and trying to get Christopher to figure out that she’s really his best friend Emerson Watts!

Needless to say, that is not what happened. It was better! The plot takes on a whole new spin! Being Nikki is definitely a step up from Airhead. We are...more

The book being Nikki by Meg Cabot was awesome, it was the sequel to airhead. It was an awesome book, but since it was the sequel my summary will be twice as long because I have to explain what happened in the beginning. What happened was that a girl named em watts took her sister to get an autograph by Nikki Howard the face of stark, which is a big electronic and house hold items company that there products are cheaper then apple and other expensive items. And Em hates this company and her best...more

Wohhoo~ I absolutely enjoy reading this book! As soon as I finish reading Airhead I quickly dashed out to read this book. I am quite surprise to as how the author can insert the gory and maniac crazy of a brain transplant thing to a light and fluffy fantasy of a model world. We even get a hint that something big is going to happen. It reminds me a little of the Hunger Games where the Capitol (which in this book is the Stark Company) is ruling everything and behind their good-natured face, they a...more

this book surprised me.... i was expecting a fairly light and fluffy book about a girl who had her brain transplanted into a supermodels body. and i guess starting off with "light and fluffy book" and "brain transplant" in the same sentence doesn't really fit. This book turned out to have the romance and expected menial girl troubles, but beneath all of that, it touched on a point that can relate to present day society. "Stark" the company that nikki (the main character) works for and its schemi...more

This is a very different Meg Cabot book. Perhaps it's because of the darker tone the series takes, it's not everyday your brain gets put into a different body, but it doesn't come off as light and fluffy as some of Meg's other series. Be that as it may, Meg does know how to write a good mystery. The second book in this trilogy is probably the strongest since there is a lot of plot exploration in the book. While the trilogy had a s...more

Being Nikki offered up some fun and shocking twists and turns while still containing Cabot's wonderful humor. The novel is a quick read, mainly due to Cabot's flowing prose; her style is very much like a best friend telling you their story and it provides for compelling reading. The pages fly by fast, and the reader is left with a cliffhanger that made me glad I had Runaway already in my TBR pile.

Lulu is still one of my favorite characters. Almost everything she says is hilarious, and she's just...more

Author Requirement: Meg Cabot, Romance

I had never read any of Cabot's work before. Although the idea is rather unique-- a walmart like universe colliding with the simple life of a seventeen year old superstar-- the dynamic is very similar to many "chick" books I have read. We meet our protagonist, Em-in-Nikki's body, who has undergone a brain transplant. She has all the memories of her old life (memories that belong to an average, intelligent, run-of-the-mill female), but now resides in the body...more

From inside jacket:

Em was sure there couldn't be anything worse than being a brainiac the body of a teenaged supermodel.

But it turned out she was wrong. Because that supermodel could turn out to have a mother who's gone mysteriously missing, a brother who's shown up on her doorstep demanding answers, a former best friend who's intent on destroying Stark Enterprises to avenge the death of his lost love, and a British heartthrob who's written a song about her that's topping the charts.

Because of this book, I need to find out what happens in the next. As a book, it's alright--but as the second book in a series, it's really awesome :)

I recommend this book for all of Meg Cabot's usual readers but sadly, I don't recommend it to those who have yet to read any other of Meg's books. It's not a book that gives the best impression of Cabot's books--not that it's bad. It's quite the opposite. If you're a Meg Cabot newbie I recommend some of the other books she's written--something like...more

Having read "Airhead" the first book in the series I couldn't stop myself from wanting to know what happens next and decided to read "Being Nikki". Surprisingly it was more enjoyable than the previous one, as it did not suffer from the occasional trip down the memory lane which was in abundance in "Airhead". But still there is one thing I can't help commenting about and that is on the character of Nikki Howard/Emmerson Watts. She thinks too much. Of course it is the writing style followed throug...more

Being Nikki, the sequel to Airhead was definetely an interesting book. It took me out of my normal drama-love-story zone. I liked it because of all the drama and emotions throughout the book. I really loved how Meg Cabot, the author, described every detail that happened. Especially how the author thoroughly described the relationships and Nikki's personal view of the relationship. I could not put this book down once I started a new chapter. I disliked how short the book was. This book built up a...more

I really enjoyed reading this sequel to Airhead. It was fun to continue Emerson's story. While reading I kept thinking, "Why can't this happen to me?" Emerson's/Nikki's new life is so great, well sort of. I don't think I could do the whole model thing but I could definitely do the tons of money/nice body/choice of boys thing.

The plot was really good. The MC is smart and nice and I really like that. I like that even though she has this different life but she is still humble and doesn't try to be...more

Em Watts is back! In Nikki Howard's body, of course.

If you think Em being in Nikki Howard's body is all easy peasey, boy, you're wrong!

After the death of herself -or her body, to be exact, Em a.k.a Nikki had to face the truth that Christopher, who she had been having a crush on, had turned into a supervillain. Moreover, she couldn't really meet her family & her sister had been accusing her for throwing away her old family.

As if it was not enough, the coming of Steven, Nikki's brother, to se...more

More Drama with Nikki/Emerson's life trying to figure out what happened to her and Nikki, her ex boyfriend is still in love with her, finding out she has a mother that went missing, her brother she hasn't seen in ever shows up on her door step, trying to convince her love of her life that models aren't that bad and trying to give him clues that shes Em and having a British rock star falling madly in love with her and writing her songs. She finds out that some one from Nikki's modeling agencies t...more

This was every bit as good as Airhead!

Emmerson Watts didn't think it would be that difficult to be Nikki Howard - seriously how hard it is to be a teen supermodel, all you have to do is stand there and look pretty . . . not.

When the company you work for has some serious blackmail hanging over your head and is turning out to be a villainous evil corporation it is not easy to "just smile" while your photographer gets the perfect shot! Add to that the fact that Nikki Howard's brother Stephen just s...more

For me, Meg Cabot's books are like comfort food. Whenever I'm feeling stressed or unhappy, picking up one of her novels is a no-fail way to perk me up. As with most of her novels, Meg Cabot did not disappoint me in Being Nikki.

Cabot's writing style flawlessly reflects the mind of the average teen. Her adolescent characters aren't as deep as some, but they aren't incredibly shallow either. Some may scoff and roll their eyes at Em's problems, but as a teenager, I can relate to many of them. Not t...more

I enjoyed this almost as much as 'Airhead' and definitely think that Meg Cabot's writing is getting better, and more original, with time. Of course, there were a few things that I didn't love about this book - such as Em constantly kissing guys as well as talking about it and thinking about it, which I didn't really think added to the story - but for the majority of the book I was gripped and didn't want to put it down! I really liked the advancements in the Stark plot, which was more interestin...more

Being nikki by meg cabot was about a superfishal famose teen modle (nikki) and a girl (em) who is a nerd/"normal". So em the very smart teen gets stuck in a teenage super modles body. so as soon as she feels that she has the good life she soon figures out that balanceing school, modleing, and the guy she likes is not esay. she soon figures out that the guy who she likes wouldnt notice her as a em but would once she became nikki, and modleing takes you out of most of your school and school keeps...more

Once again, Meg Cabot keeps readers right on their toes giving her usual witty banter with a glamourous, upscale New York twist. Although I am a huge fan of all Cabot books, I must say that she has outdone herself this time. Even though all of Cabot’s books have different styles, differing from suspense, comedy, to mystery, I must say I like her writing style best in the Airhead Series.

In the sequal to Airhead, Being Nikki goes in an in depth look at the supermodels life. Many secret’s left unto...more

What can I say? This is Meg Cabot after all. Last year when I read Airhead, I loved it. This year, Meg Cabot blew me away again. Being Nikki was fantastic. The novel was fast paced and filled with wonderful characters and a great plot! I love everything about it. Being Nikki was absolutely BRILLIANT. There are some new characters introduced in this book as wells as a mystery! The mystery was very well planned and it all fit perfectly at the end. I had a hunch in the beginning and I was right. Be...more

Being the face of Stark Enterprises isn’t easy, especially if the brain behind that face doesn’t really belong to the body it’s in. But that’s Em Watt’s predicament, for better or worse, and she has to learn to deal with that. But juggling high school and a modeling career aren’t her only problems, and neither are all of Nikki’s ex-boyfriends or Lulu’s upcoming holiday party. Because now, Nikki’s brother has appeared with news of his mother’s disappearance, Em’s crush and used-to-be best friend...more

Meg Cabot is a genius. However, the concept at the core of this novel series, involves the reader taking a huge leap of faith in order to invest in the protagonist, Em. I have to admit that the whole brain swapping scenario makes it difficult for me to love this series as much as some of Cabot's other work. That being said, Being Nikki was a huge improvement on Airhead.

Em is a great character - she's smart, determined, empathetic and now beautiful. Unlike Airhead, Em has increased problems to ke...more

My review at The Little Bookworm

Emerson Watts is still stuck in the body of world famous supermodel Nikki Howard after a tragic accident and a brain transplant. She is becoming more accustomed to the fame and the job, but she still misses her old life, family and her old friend, Christopher, who Em is still in love with. So when Nikki's brother shows up, Em is unsure how to handle him or the news that Nikki's mother is missing. And she doesn't know what to do when something even more shocking tu...more

Librarian note: AKA Jenny Carroll (1-800-Where-R-You series), AKA Patricia Cabot (historical romance novels).

Meg Cabot was born on February 1, 1967, during the Chinese astrological year of the Fire Horse, a notoriously unlucky sign. Fortunately she grew up in Bloomington, Indiana, where few people were aware of the stigma of being a fire horse -- at least until Meg became a teenager, when she flun...more
