The action and romance continue as the Drakes face a new vampire with a 200-year-old grudge.

It’s been centuries since Isabeau St. Croix barely survived the French Revolution. Now she’s made her way back to the living and she must face the ultimate test by confronting the evil British lord who left her for dead the day she turned into a vampire. That’s if she can control he

I'm could describe Blood Feud the same way I described Hearts at Stake... A great book for vampire fans looking for a fun, fast and entertaining read. I'd even recommend this for non vampire fans. This was just a feel good, make you laugh, can't stop turning the pages.... awesome book.

I would have to describe these novels as my "guilty pleasure" vampire novels. (I have a werewolf guilty pleasure too: The Dark Guardian novels.) And I call them guilty pleasures because they aren't exceptionally w...more

Reviewed @ Girls Without a Bookshelf.

I was hugely excited for the second installment in the Drake Chronicles and am glad to say that it pleased me a lot! I know a lot of you girls out there are excited for it too - you better be, because this is so much better than Love Lies Bleeding (US title: Hearts at Stake)!

Let me start by saying that it surpassed all my expectations. I thought it was going to be a book that was more romance than anything but boy was I wrong. It was a good mix of mystery and...more

July Book #7: Well, this book decided it for me. I won't be pursuing any more books in this series as they come out. It's just not done well enough or different enough for me and it lacked the real sexual tension of the first book, so it had even less going for it. This book focuses on one of the boys in the rather large Drake family. (I wonder if we can expect one book for each child?) As the Drake's attempt to settle in as the royal family and make peace with other vampire clans, they find the...more

I clap enthusiastically for this series. If only you could see my face.

This is the 2nd installment of the Drake Chronicles, following the 3rd youngest this time, Logan. It's told from his point of view and that of Isabeau St. Croix, a Hound. For those unfamiliar with the series, she's not a dog. A Hound is more of an unholy vampire, if you will.

I just love the Drake family. They're so funny and I totally wish I was in Lucy's shoes. It's be awesome to live so close to them. I love how there's alw...more

The second instalment of The Drake Chronicles follows the story of second youngest Drake brother, Logan, and Hound Princess Isabeau. In this book, the two characters, despite their differences, fall in love and have to literally, fight for it!
I really enjoy this series and I really enjoy the Drake Brothers! As a teenager, reading about hot vampires just makes me really happy.

The Plot:

It has been a week after the death of Lady Natasha and Liam Drake, father of all the Drake siblings, desperately...more

I'm not really into reading vampire stories after the Twilight Saga but I received a copy of Ruling Passion (My Love Lies Bleeding, Blood Feud and Out for Blood) for an award.

This book is split between the POV's of Logan and Isabeau, with Isabeau's POV weaving between the present day and her time as a human during the French Revolution.

As all Drake boys, Logan was clearly a gentleman and fell for Isabeau faster than Solange for Kieran. Logan is very sweet in his internal thoughts about Isabeau....more

Loved.It.
Seriously. I mean, it isn't the best book I've ever read and I must admit that it was slightly predictable but it was cute and easy to read. I'm falling in love with the Drake brothers and their 'white night complex'. It is so cute how they protect their 'baby sister'(which makes me fall in love with them even more when they call her that) but I must admit that Nicholas is still my favorite brother. Logan is a bit too vain. I still love him though.
Isabeau is one of the best female ch...more

This book was pretty awesome!!! Not enough for me to go all CAPS, and BOLD, on it, but it definitely was one of the better books I was sent. I'm sure you guys probably didnt read that whole book description, and I'm not really expecting you guys to read all of that boringness, 'cuz I didnt really either, I mean I kinda graced it, but other than that, it's a bit long and complicated, especially for someone who didnt read the first book, hearts at Stake. (get it, stake!!! vampires!! yeah....I know...more

"Blood Feud" is the second intallment in the Drake Chronicle and takes place three weeks after the first book. The story is told from the point of view of Solange's brother, Logan and his love interest, Isableau. Isableau is a hound princess and has come to the court to forged an alliance with the Drakes.

The story begins with Isableau's death in England hundreds of years prior. She wa locked in a coffin in the ground for two hundred years before being driving mad and rescued by the Hounds. After...more

If I was late with Last Sacrifice review imagine with this one. But better late than never right?

This series is about the Drake family. The Drakes are a family of outcast vampires. Why are they outcasts you ask? Well Queen Natasha didn't like them because of this prophecy with the family and one of their children, Solage, who was supposed to be the next queen. But, **Spoiler alert if you haven't read the first book in the series called Hearts at Stake**...more

Reactions:
I admit I was quite disappointed with this second volume. I loved the character of Logan since the beginning and I was looking forward to see how the author was going to describe him falling in love. For me, he had everything it takes to be an offbeat romantic hero, outdated and mannered.
If in the first volume, he had a particular sense of humor, arrogance to spare and a lot of personnality, I found him much more pale in this adventure. He is always present in the fighting, but further...more

The second installment of the Drake Chronicles follows another Drake brother, Logan, and the Hound princess, Isabeau. The Hounds are a more earthy vampire sect that live in caves, use magic, and dogs are their companions and fellow warriors. They are attempting a treaty now that the Drake family has taken over the monarchy, but before real talk begins, the war that was started in the first book revisits them as revenge and evil vampires try to take the crown and Solange.

I enjoyed Logan, he was...more

The Drake Chronicles is a series that focuses on a vampire family newly installed into political power. This political power isn’t of the US (or any other country) government variety but rather of the ancient rulers of the vampire kind. You know what this equals right? Intrigue in the castle! Or in this case the tunnels. Tunnels that wind their way underneath the Drake properties.

With such political intrigue comes the drama of infighting, potential coups-like behavior and building of strategic p...more

I can't believe I didn't add this book after I finished reading it. I really enjoy this series. I like really like the Drake family, and I like the twist added to the vampire characteristics and the how, in this family, they become vampires. Even the different variety of vampires is interesting. Of course, the love story is also fun. With the Drake children, love never runs smoothly. And of course, we still get to see Lucy and Nicholas.

In this second book in the series, the romance revolves arou...more

I actually like this series. I don't exactly know why. I think it's because of the way that there are a few of the hot vampire guys who are born on the same year as me, WHOOHOO!! The way the books are written are quite interesting.

Each book focuses on one of the Drakes, and i assume that is how each one would be. Well, an involvement of one of the Drakes if the blurb for Out For Blood is anything to go by anyway. ^_^ The story has pretty strong characters and heaps of laughs. I can't count how m...more

I enjoyed this book although I did have a few issues with it. It’s not as exciting or gripping as My Love Lies Bleeding and it took me quite a lot longer to read. My Love Lies Bleeding was new and had a sort of sparkle. I felt this magic was sort of missing in its sequel. It was still a fun read but it didn’t have that same punch that I anticipated, having read the previous story.

I do love Harvey’s writing style though and this was certainly a plus. She has a style that is lovely to read even i...more

As the Drake Chronicles continue, Logan, the more flamboyant, old-fashioned brother, is in charge of showing the Hound representative, Isabeau, who saved his sister, around the Royal grounds and nearby caves. Isabeau is here on business for the Hounds to create a treaty with the new queen, Helena Drake. As threats are made to the royal family, specifically Solange, a one-of-a-kind female born vampire, Isabeau feels it is her duty to protect them. But when someone from her past comes back to haun...more

Blood Feud, the second entry in Alyxandra Harvey’s Drake Chronicles, shows some marked differences from Hearts at Stake. Whereas that first book was primarily a frothy, if eminently enjoyable paranormal teen romance (although it does also provide a solid introduction to the very interesting vampire world Harvey has created) Blood Feud is darker, more mature and even more engrossing.

Blood Feud picks up almost immediately after the point where Hearts at Stake ends, with the seven Drake brothers an...more

This is the second Book in the Drake series, and I think that this is even better than the first one. Mind you Lucy is still my favourite character. We actually get to see Lucy in this book, but only briefly, but still she is funny as ever.

The second book of the Drake chronicles series is about Logan and Isabeau. This was another cute story and I loved the characters. Isabeau is such a strong character, she takes no shit from anyone. I guess you do learn to be tough when you have a past like he...more

*May contain spoilers if you have not read the first book*

In Hearts at Stake we read about Lucy and Solange, two friends who are very much alike but very different. Lucy is a human who will do anything to protect her friend, Solange who is a vampire princess. Solange is very special because she is the only female vampire to be born from a vampire family. So she is attracting a lot of male attention, especially Montmarte. At the end of the first book, the old Queen was killed by Solange's mother...more

There are spoilers from the first book, Hearts at Stake, in this review.

The Drakes are back in Blood Feud, but this time the story is told from the viewpoints of Solange’s brother, Logan and Isabeau, the Hound that saved Solange in Hearts at Stake.

Lady Natasha is now dead and Solange’s mom, Helena, is in power and trying to set up her coronation. Montmartre is still after Solange and domination over, well, pretty much everyone. Helena and the Drakes want to work with the Helios-Ra and the Hound...more

What struck me most about this volume of the Drake Chronicles was the language. Isabeau lived during the French Revolution and was turned not long after she finally escaped to England. While she did acquiesce to modern vernacular and technologies some of the descriptive language used in this book really seemed to reflect her backgrounds, which made for some gorgeous sounding description. This volume of the Drake Chronicles was about Logan (one of Solange's many older brothers) and Isabeau, a pri...more

Just like the first novel, The Drake brothers never let you down. Logan meets and is immediately intrigued by Isabeau. The Drake family and the Hounds end up working together to help stop a crazy vampire by the name of Montmarte. He will stop at nothing till he has the crown and Solange Drake.

This book was great. The romance between Logan and Isabeau, I felt lack a little. I was glad to see the working together and getting to know one another but I would have really like to see them get some dow...more

The Hounds delegation arrives for Helena Drake’s coronation lead by Isabeau St. Croix, a young vampire with a tragic history. Isabeau survived the French Revolution, only to be turned into a vampire and buried for centuries. She seeks revenge against the vampire who turned her, a lieutenant of Montemartre called Grayhaven. What she doesn’t count on finding, is the young roguishly handsome Logan Drake, who will do anything to protect his family, and now Isabeau, from the scheming of Montemartre.

This one was better than the last, mostly because of Isabeau. She's the first character in this series with any sort of personality and depth. I liked her backstory, even though the constant flashbacking seemed a bit awkward. And compared to fully fleshed out characters from other books, she does indeed fall flat.

But I couldn't bring myself to care about Logan, so their romance felt really dull to me. He never evolved beyond having the personality of a wet dishrag. The characters from the previo...more

I LOVE this series. I couldn't wait to read this! After reading Hearts At Stake, I was curious to see what the author would come up with next and which character would be the focus of the next story. In this story we get to see Logan front and center. The well dressed Drake finds himself captivated by Isabeau. With flashbacks through Isabeau, we start to understand what one goes through when they become a Hound and how she struggled to survive. Logan realizes the power of magic and the temptatio...more

First of all, it was a nice touch to make the both people on the cover have green eyes. Logan and Isabeau do in the book, so a point for accuracy! I don’t however, think that Isabeau would wear that top. Just because she’s a vampire doesn’t mean she wears black leather. And Logan wouldn’t be caught dead in a plain black t-shirt. Oops. Sorry. Unfortunately choice of words. Do I say he wouldn’t be caught alive in a plain black t-shirt? I really don’t know.

Inhaltsangabe:

This book was so much better than the first one in the series. The first part "My Love Lies Bleeding", otherwise known as "Hearts at Stake" was all fluffy mindless teenage stuff. This one, however, has a lot more consistent writing and an actual story, instead of the perpetual whining and the Romeo and Juliet like rendition, nothing against Romeo and Juliet, but Shakespeare has already done it, it's over, leave it alone.
Now back to the novel at hand, it's centered around Isabeau St. Croix and L...more

Alyxandra Harvey lives in a stone Victorian house in Ontario, Canada with a few resident ghosts who are allowed to stay as long they keep company manners. She loves medieval dresses, used to be able to recite all of The Lady of Shalott by Tennyson, and has been accused, more than once, of being born in the wrong century. She believes this to be mostly true except for the fac...more

“Exactly. These guys just want me to play Snow White singing in her little cottage while they do all the work."
Lucy snorted. "Snow White and the Seven Buttheads. You could give Disney a run for their money."
Nicholas poked her in the ribs. "I am not a singing dwarf!"
"No, you're a butthead. Weren't you paying attention?”

“Where's Lucy?" I asked the others.
"At the farmhouse," Nicholas said with grim satisfaction.
"How'd you manage that?"
"She's in a closet." Solange rolled her eyes.
I stared at Nicholas. "You locked your girlfriend in a closet? Smooth."
"She's going to eviscerate him," Quinn said cheerfully.”
