I'm could describe Blood Feud the same way I described Hearts at Stake... A great book for vampire fans looking for a fun, fast and entertaining read. I'd even recommend this for non vampire fans. This was just a feel good, make you laugh, can't stop turning the pages.... awesome book.

I was hugely excited for the second installment in the Drake Chronicles and am glad to say that it pleased me a lot! I know a lot of you girls out there are excited for it too - you better be, because this is so much better than Love Lies Bleeding (US title: Hearts at Stake)!

Let me start by saying that it surpassed all my expectations. I thought it was going to be a book that was more romance than anything but boy was I wrong. It was a good mix of mystery and action (I love!) - it was really a fast-paced read which I could barely let go of.

It is not only an excellent sequel, it can also stand-alone. Alyxandra Harvey continues the plot in Love Lies Bleeding smoothly, without foregoing the development of the relationships (Nicholas-Lucy!) established in its predecessor. If anything, it actually entices any reader who has not yet read Love Lies Bleeding to read it.

Blood Feud is told in both Logan's and Isabeau's perspectives. The difference in their way of thinking delivered a very insightful glimpse into a tale that was part past and part present. Logan's point of view is always fraught with humour and indignation whilst Isabeau is the more reserved, thoughtful type. Logan is hilariously funny and Isabeau, though trying not to be, is still a girl underneath all the hatred she harbours. They are a wonderful pair together, but I'm afraid I'm still a hard-core Lucy-Nicholas shipper!

The narrative is not exactly told in alternate POVs, but rather in blocks. You have several chapters of Isabeau's perspective and several of Logan's succeeding that. In between an omniscient narrator relays the past that explains Isabeau's experiences during the French for revolution and elaborates her thirst for revenge. I must say that these chapters are very well-placed, so that they support the continuity of the plot rather than distract the reader from it. They serve also as a form of characterisation of Isabeau. Well described and strongly portrayed, it allows the readers to not only understand, but also sympathise with Isabeau.

What I did not favour in the general plot would be the lack of characterisation on Logan's part. Isabeau was definitely a developed character; I was not sure Logan is. I certainly would have wanted more on his part. The second and final thing I can say about the plot is that I wanted more romance! Quite difficult to impose on a character such as Isabeau but the fan-girl in me screams more.

I have once more enjoyed immersing myself in Alyxandra Harvey's vampire world. The Drakes and Lucy are always a pleasure to be with, but with the addition of Isabeau and with the deeper, more action-packed plot, Blood Feud just made it a whole lot better!

July Book #7: Well, this book decided it for me. I won't be pursuing any more books in this series as they come out. It's just not done well enough or different enough for me and it lacked the real sexual tension of the first book, so it had even less going for it. This is the 2nd installment of the Drake Chronicles, following the 3rd youngest this time, Logan. It's told from his point of view and that of Isabeau St. Croix, a Hound. For those unfamiliar with the series, she's not a dog. A Hound is more of an unholy vampire, if you will.

I'm not really into reading vampire stories after the Twilight Saga but I received a copy of Ruling Passion (My Love Lies Bleeding, Blood Feud and Out for Blood) for an award.

This book is split between the POV's of Logan and Isabeau, with Isabeau's POV weaving between the present day and her time as a human during the French Revolution.

As all Drake boys, Logan was clearly a gentleman and fell for Isabeau faster than Solange for Kieran. Logan is very sweet in his internal thoughts about Isabeau....more

Seriously. I mean, it isn't the best book I've ever read and I must admit that it was slightly predictable but it was cute and easy to read. I'm falling in love with the Drake brothers and their 'white night complex'. It is so cute how they protect their 'baby sister'(which makes me fall in love with them even more when they call her that) but I must admit that Nicholas is still my favorite brother. Logan is a bit too vain. I still love him though.

This book was pretty awesome!!! Not enough for me to go all CAPS, and BOLD, on it, but it definitely was one of the better books I was sent. I don't think they make him lovable enough, because he slowly, but surely, got on my nerves. ( I have; with burning passion; hated lame pick up lines from guys, and he did not even make it that funny!) i also think the ending was rushed ( This was also pointed out in themoodteenagers blog) . I was really confused and the end for exactly what happened I had to re-read it a couple times!! But overall, I think this was a light fun read, definitely one of those books you read right before you go to bed to entertain those last minute sleepy nerves!!!! This series is about the Drake family. The Drakes are a family of outcast vampires. Why are they outcasts you ask? Well Queen Natasha didn't like them because of this prophecy with the family and one of their children, Solage, who was supposed to be the next queen. But, **Spoiler alert if you haven't read the first book in the series called Hearts at Stake** instead of Solage being the next vampire queen is the mother who at the end kills Queen Natasha and thus becomes queen herself. Crappy prophecy if you ask me, however do not loose sleep over this event because the truth is Natasha had it coming. And so we start this book which is set about a week after the first book. However this book deals with another member of the Drake family, Logan and his future companion, or so the bones tells us, Isabeau St. Crox.

Now that I have you fully updated I can commence with my review on this piece of literature. Hearts at Stake had a certain charm and excitement. The story was new and fresh -though of the top of my head I can name one series that deals with the story of different brothers aka The Black Dagger Brotherhood- and it was very fast paced, not to mention the characters were a trip. Lucy especially, the only human girl who hangs out with the Drake vampires because her parents have no common sense or just don't know how to keep a leash on the girl, was the bomb. She was funny and brave. Solange on the other hand was more like a dream, delicate but wonderful and romantic. They balanced each other well and worked.

On Blood Feud I have to say I didn't see this balance between the characters. It was as if we only saw Isabeau's part of the story to the fullest detail and Logan's part was underdeveloped. The story was told from both their POV's. I loved Isabeau (though I keep confusing the a and u in her name as I type). She is strong, a survivor. She survived France's revolution!! She is h-a-r-d-c-o-r-e. We see a lot about her past life, which makes sense since she was buried for 200 years and only recently dug out. To tell you the truth her past life is probably the best part of the book! It's very detailed and so interesting. Logan on the other hand, though a dreamy male lead, seemed strong certainly, but didn't shine as much as she did. He also seemed to fall in love to easily, and I have no idea where his sudden attachment to Isabeau came from, a crush? He only knew her for about 5 minutes and already he seemed attuned to her every mood and every like. This seems a little bit unrealistic. Sure he is a vampire, but he is not 200 years old, he is only 18 or 19 I believe.

Oh that's another thing. While I like how fast paced these novels seem to be, they don't cover more than a week (this novel covered a couple of days at most). I am sorry but it's a little hard to believe that they fell in love in mere hours. Call me a cynic if you must, but you need a little more time. Unless we are taking about "love at first sight" or something, which didn't seem to be the case with these characters. Apparently they were "meant for each other". I mean, the bones told us that, so we must listen to the bones!

By the bones bit what I mean is that in this novel we were introduce to magic! It was kind of neat, specially the Dream Walking part of it. So yeah, the bones told things about the future and stuff.

And even though I have problems with these things like time, Logan's character, and their "love", I still liked the novel! I'm telling you, its fast paced awesomeness. It was nice that I got to re visit some characters from the past and read them for more than a side line. And also the plot from the first book seemed pretty finished by the end of this one so I have no idea what Out for Blood might be about, which is kind of cool. I thought she was just going to drag out the plot line for the first book for about 3 more books or so. Keeping me on my toes Miss Harvey. I like that in an author.

And finally, I think I should stop here since I blabbered as much as I can blabber for the night. The novel was good, though irritating at some points. But worth the $10 dollars I paid for it. If only for Isabeau's character and her story (love her). And really, this is a series that you must give a try to. Read Hearts at Stake, give it a go. And then read this piece of work, and later on go Out for Blood.(less)

With such political intrigue comes the drama of infighting, potential coups-like behavior and building of strategic partnerships. Blood Feud is not lacking in any of these particular elements. Frankly, I’d gone into this story thinking it would be much like the first, kind of heavier on the paranormal romance, but I was surprised that while there was definitely love in the air it was at a much smaller level than anticipated. Sure Logan and Isabeau had a connection and naturally that connection was tested but this story was much more about the test than when or if they would overcome the adversity and be together.

Theirs was a wrong side of the tracks kind of romance. Isabeau is a member of the Hounds (ie: super powerful witchy type) and Logan is a Drake (ie: super powerful vampire type) which means that they are as far apart on the food chain as two people can be. They have been raised to distrust each other, in fact they are encouraged to loathe each other, however when someone is told not to do something what do you think happens? Yup, you guessed it, they do the exact opposite.

As a character Isabeau was an interesting addition to the clan. She’s built on vengeance yet still has a charming girlish element to her. Harvey”s skillful storytelling gave the vicious hard-nosed Hound heart and soul through the use of flashbacks. Isabeau is a girl who endures unspeakable consequences before being turned and then even more unspeakable consequences after. Her story was easily the best part of the book.

It’s easy to see why Logan would be drawn to her and why he would be inclined to protect her, even when it could be a detriment to his own family. Just adds drama right?

Speaking of drama, family dynamics play a large role in this story, in fact it was much deeper than I thought it would have been. The relationship the Drakes have with each other has been previously experienced but it was fun to see them interact again, I enjoyed experiencing the different personalities of the brothers, Solange and and their extended family. I also enjoyed learning about Isabeau’s roots since her history went a long way to humanizing her. Despite the strong paranormal aspect to the book Harvey does well to make her characters relatable to readers. It’s just the right combination of the fantastical and the good old ordinary human behavior.

As was the case with the first book in this series I enjoyed Blood Feud a great deal. Usually I’m more interested in seeing advancement of stories involving the characters I connected with in a previous book but Harvey has built such a dynamic story here that the shift in focus from one cadre of Drakes to another was both seamless and enthralling. Don’t worry there are still glimpses of returning favorites, they are involved in the story in a limited capacity as well, they just aren’t the central focus this go round.

Pick it up! Blood Feud is a fun read.(less)

I can't believe I didn't add this book after I finished reading it. I really enjoy this series. I like really like the Drake family, and I like the twist added to the vampire characteristics and the how, in this family, they become vampires. Even the different variety of vampires is interesting. Of course, the love story is also fun. With the Drake children, love never runs smoothly. And of course, we still get to see Lucy and Nicholas.

I actually like this series. I don't exactly know why. I think it's because of the way that there are a few of the hot vampire guys who are born on the same year as me, WHOOHOO!! The way the books are written are quite interesting.

I enjoyed this book although I did have a few issues with it. It’s not as exciting or gripping as My Love Lies Bleeding and it took me quite a lot longer to read. My Love Lies Bleeding was new and had a sort of sparkle. I felt this magic was sort of missing in its sequel. It was still a fun read but it didn’t have that same punch that I anticipated, having read the previous story.

Hoping to create a new kind of vampire court, Queen Helena and King Liam are attempting to form alliances with both the reclusive Hounds and the Helios-Ra vampire hunters against Montmartre’s Host and the feral Hel-Blar.

18-year-old Logan, the Drake’s second youngest son, is tasked with hosting the Hound envoy, Isabeau St. Croix. Like most whose fealty lies with the royal court, Logan knows little about the vampires known as Hounds and most of what he does know turns out to be wholly false, greatly exaggerated or woefully out-of-date. He is immediately drawn to Isabeau and finds that he wants to know everything about the fierce, proud Hound princess.

Isabeau, as it turns out, is almost as ignorant about the Drakes and their court as Logan is about the Hounds. From the minute she arrives at the court with her two fellow envoys, she is kept off-balance by the Drakes’ informal lifestyle and their seeming willingness to form a connection with the Hounds. Isabeau, however, is not so sure the wisdom of such an alliance. Both her life and her undeath have taught her that trusting others most often leads to betrayal.

The developing romance between Logan and Isabeau is just one of the plot lines in Blood Feud and, as much as I enjoyed their story, I found myself just as interested in the description of the machinations inherent in vampire politics, the exploration of the Hounds way of life, and the nefarious plotting of Montmartre and his lieutenant Greyhaven, who just happens to be the vampire who ended Isabeau’s human life. Flashbacks to Isabeau’s struggles to survive the horrors of the French Revolution add depth to her character and to the story as a whole.

If you found Hearts at Stake a little light for your taste, you’re sure to be more satisfied with Blood Feud. If (like me) you count Hearts at Stake among your favorite guilty pleasures and you are eager to learn more about the Drake family and their world, Blood Feud is going to make you very happy.(less)

This is the second Book in the Drake series, and I think that this is even better than the first one. Mind you Lucy is still my favourite character. We actually get to see Lucy in this book, but only briefly, but still she is funny as ever.

In Hearts at Stake we read about Lucy and Solange, two friends who are very much alike but very different. Lucy is a human who will do anything to protect her friend, Solange who is a vampire princess. Solange is very special because she is the only female vampire to be born from a vampire family. So she is attracting a lot of male attention, especially Montmarte. At the end of the first book, the old Queen was killed by Solange's mother Helena and now all of a sudden, the Drakes are royalty.

So Blood Feud has the Drakes are trying to get a allegiances with the Hounds (another type of vampire that have two sets of fangs). The hounds send Isabeau, who is the closes thing they have to a vampire princess to check out the Drakes. Isabeau helped save Solange from Montmarte and so the Drakes have invited her to the royal coronation.

Montmarte is a 400 yr. old vampire who wants to make Solange is vampire Queen and the only way to do that is by killing her mother. So the Drakes have upped the security and are on full alert. Isabeau has one thing in common with the Drakes and that is there enemy, Montmarte.

Isabeau, is from the French Revolutionary age and only has revenge on her mind. She is out to kill the one person who turned her, Greyhaven. He is part of Montmarte's group, so she has agreed to attend the coronation in hopes of killing, Greyhaven.

Logan Drake is the fancy dressed Drake, he likes to dress in the frocks and so his father sends him to meet Isabeau thinking that it might make her more at ease. As hard as they try the Drake boys don't make a great first impression on Isabeau and her friends. No matter what happens Logan is not letting Isabeau out of his sight and will do what ever he can to help keep her safe.

Isabeau didn't want to find love she wanted revenge , but maybe the best revenge is to find love.

Blood Feud was a much shorter book but it was packed full of great characters and faced pace fun. I loved Isabeau, she is very strong willed and independent. She is a hound and she was buried alive (as alive as the undead can get anyway) for two hundred years! Now if that is not enough to make you a mad, crazed person bent on revenge I don't know what does..lol. She knows that she can take care of herself, but when Logan comes to protect her she is touched by his act of kindness. Isabeau, is defiantly your kick ass kind of heroine.

Logan is very kind and sweet. He was the only one who didn't stare or gawk at Isabeau because she was different. He seen the beauty through the two sets of fangs and scars all over her arms. He is a very protective type of guy. He tries his best to protect his mother and sister and when Isabeau is in trouble he is willing to go anywhere with her as long as he can protect her. (Okay so I have a soft spot vampires who like to dress up in fancy shirts and frocks..lol)

Though my favorite person in The Drake Chronicles is still Lucy, but it was fun getting to know Isabeau and Logan. I would recommend The Drake Chronicles to anyone who loves vampire stories. If you have read Hearts at Stake then you must get Blood Feud.

Lady Natasha is now dead and Solange’s mom, Helena, is in power and trying to set up her coronation. Montmartre is still after Solange and domination over, well, pretty much everyone. Helena and the Drakes want to work with the Helios-Ra and the Hounds, who have sent three of their own to represent Kala, the head of the Hounds. They’re led by Kala’s handmaiden, Isabeau (and her loyal dog, Charlemagne), who was turned without the strength to escape her grave, in which she was trapped for two hundred years. Because of this, Isabeau wants revenge against Montmartre, but even more so against one of his right hand vampires, the one who turned her and abandoned her.

There’s quite a bit of action and we learn more about the Drakes and, especially, the Hounds and the Hel-Blar. Nicholas and Lucy and Solange and Kieran are in this book, though with greatly reduced roles. As with the first book, I loved the dynamics of the Drake family, especially when all of the brothers are going at it with each other. However, I liked this book a little less than I did Hearts at Stake. Though there were alternating viewpoints as in the first book, both were from people who were usually in the same place, seeing the same things occur, unlike with Lucy and Solange. I liked Isabeau well enough, but the Hounds really didn’t do anything for me, and some of Isabeau’s chapters were about her human life in the 18th century. While they gave good insight into her character, they mostly bored me to tears, which is surprising, because I like history. The thing that really saved/made the book for me was that I absolutely loved the chapters from Logan’s point of view. He’s sweet, sarcastically funny and has a bit of “typical guy” thrown in that, for me, balanced out the lacy shirt, frock wearing thing he had going on. Someone I know who’s read Harvey’s third book, Out for Blood, said that it’s her favorite and, because I love the Drake family, I’ll definitely be back for more.(less)

What struck me most about this volume of the Drake Chronicles was the language. Isabeau lived during the French Revolution and was turned not long after she finally escaped to England. This second adventure in the Drake Chronicles takes off at breakneck pace. Like the first, this book has action, vampires, magic, and romance. The story is told from the point of view of the two main characters in alternating chapters. Isabeau’s character is convincingly developed and believable. Flashbacks provide insight into her past, and outline her motivations for finding Grayhaven. Logan’s character is much better developed in this second book, and we begin to see how loyal he is to his family.

With this second volume, I got what I needed so badly in the first, a family tree! I am finally able to keep better track of who is who in the drake clan. Like the first though, this book is a fun easy read with likable characters who you just want to root for. I also think this second volume shows an improvement in Harvey’s writing. These characters, especially Isabeau, are so much better developed than the characters of the first book, and I really enjoyed the rich descriptions of Isabeau’s past. Logan’s character, while better developed in this book, remains a little flat and predictable, but still extremely likable.

Overall, this book is a wonderful continuation of what promises to be a great series. Like the first book, this vampire book is safe for sensitive readers as there is no sex and only mild language. It does contain violence, and some gore, but considering it is a vampire book that is only to be expected. Harvey is a talented author, and I find myself looking forward to the next installment in this great series. This series is like candy—you can’t get enough.

This one was better than the last, mostly because of Isabeau. She's the first character in this series with any sort of personality and depth. I liked her backstory, even though the constant flashbacking seemed a bit awkward. And compared to fully fleshed out characters from other books, she does indeed fall flat.

First of all, it was a nice touch to make the both people on the cover have green eyes. Logan and Isabeau do in the book, so a point for accuracy! I don’t however, think that Isabeau would wear that top. Just because she’s a vampire doesn’t mean she wears black leather. And Logan wouldn’t be caught dead in a plain black t-shirt. Oops. Sorry. Unfortunately choice of words. Do I say he wouldn’t be caught alive in a plain black t-shirt? I really don’t know.

This book made me realize how much the first book suffered from the dual storylines. It’s not that Hearts at Stake was bad–far from it–but I think I would have preferred Lucy and Nicholas to have their own book rather than share Solange and Kieran’s. Blood Feud has three alternating points of view: first person from Logan Drake’s p.o.v., first person from Isabeau’s, and third person limited from Isabeau from before she was turned. Though the narrative shifts probably as often as it did in Hearts at Stake, Logan and Isabeau are together for most of the book. This means that, while the perspective shifts, the action doesn’t. In Hearts at Stake, when we went from Lucy’s narrative to Solange’s, we had to remember what was happening to Solange the last time we checked in with her. I didn’t realize that I found that disruptive until I read Blood Feud.

As the back cover blurb mentions, Isabeau survived the French Revolution. Her father was a duke, and therefore his life was pretty much forfeit to the guillotine. So was her mother’s. Isabeau lived on the streets of Paris for over a year. She disguised herself as a boy and picked pockets to get enough money to travel to England to her uncle’s home. It was there that Isabeau met the Earl of Grayhaven, the man who would turn her into a vampire and leave her buried in a coffin, to make her own way to the surface.

In the Drake Chronicles, there are a number of different factions. There’s the regular vampires, like the Drakes. Then there’s Montmarte and his host. Montmarte, you might remember, is the one who wants to marry Solange to solidify his own rule. Montmarte’s Host are the vampires that he turned and left below ground to make their own way to the surface. This process of turning humans into vampires has an iffy success rate. Some survive and join Montmarte’s forces. Others are found, dug up and recruited by the Hounds. The Hounds, predictably, have a special connection with dogs. They have a lot of them and their bones are involved in their beliefs and rituals. Kala is the Hound leader, their shamanka. Isabeau is their princess. Then there’s the Hel-Blar, the rabid vampires whose bites are infectious. Oh, and the hunters who want to kill vampires. Complicated, yes? I hope I didn’t confuse you too much. Seriously, read the books even if you are confused. I have no doubt Alyxandra Harvey explained it better.

Blood Feud picks up two weeks after Hearts at Stake ended. Lucy and Nicholas are a couple and so are Solange and Keiran. If you were hoping they would get some screen time, they do. Lucy’s, hilariously, does so with a purse full of stakes. Heh. Helena and Liam (Solange and Logan’s mother and father) are beginning to reform the vampire “kingdom”. They have an entirely different philosophy about ruling than their predecessor, the late Lady Natasha, and so have many enemies already. Still, they’re interested in forming treaties, so Isabeau has come to the Drakes’ home in order to forge an alliance between the vampires and the Hounds. It’s just a bonus that she meets handsome, lacy-pirate-shirt-wearing Logan Drake.

Isabeau is a fascinating character, not least because she was born and raised in eighteenth century France. After she was turned, she was left in a coffin for two hundred some years. The world has changed drastically, but due to the Spartan lifestyle exemplified by the Hounds, she has lived simply. She has a lot to get used to, but a year on the streets in post-Revolutionary France had already stripped away most of Isabeau’s ability to be shocked by human behavior. I found it an interesting twist that the girl was the tortured character in the relationship. Mostly, if the female is tortured, so is the male. But Logan’s pretty ordinary. I mean, yes, he’s a vampire and he wears shirts with lace cuffs, but he never saw his parents decapitated or anything. In that way, he’s really good for Isabeau. He can offer her the perspective of the undamaged, which he does in a really strategic moment.

I think what I liked best about Blood Feud was that there was plenty of action and plenty of romance. Isabeau is a great heroine. She’s strong-willed, a good fighter and she’s not too stupid to live. She is believably driven by her desire for revenge, but she doesn’t allow it to rule her or to put others at risk. I would have liked Isabeau to come to some sort of realization about what being turned had done for her. If she hadn’t been turned and left for dead, she would never have become the Hound Princess, which is something she’s proud of. She also would never have met Logan. I think it was the only thing missing from the resolution of her story.

Isabeau is really the star of this book. It’s not that I didn’t like Logan–I did. He’s funny and I think he’ll be really good for Isabeau. But due to the fact that he’s a pretty happy character on a pretty even keel, he doesn’t really need much character development. It would have been nice for Logan to have some of that, I think. He should have been given a little something to struggle with. It wouldn’t have to be a big thing–but a small little bone to chew on would have been nice.

The best think about Blood Feud is that it’s totally revved me up for book three. We’ve already met the heroine, which is nice. It’s like that all important conjunction in a sentence. It connects one story to another. I can’t wait until December. I’m delighted with what I’ve seen of the Drake Chronicles so far and I don’t think book three will be an exception.(less)

Bewertung:

Wie auch bereits im ersten Teil werden die Geschehnisse aus der Sicht der Protagonisten Logan und Isabeau geschildert. Dabei stellen Logan und Isabeau im Vergleich zu Lucy und Solange aus dem ersten Buch interessante Gegenpole dar. Für mich haben beide Charaktere mehr Esprit, da sie gefangen in der alten Zeit scheinen. So recht können sie mit den neuen Begebenheiten nichts anfangen. Und so treten beide gerne Mal in Fettnäpfchen oder reagieren über, was sie für mich sympathischer machen.

Gelungen ist auch die Anknüpfung an den ersten Band, denn obwohl jetzt andere Charaktere im Mittelpunkt stehen, kreuzen die Protagonisten des ersten Bandes immer wieder deren Wege. Harvey gelingt es so, auch die Geschichten dieser Figuren voranzutreiben. Dies ist ungewöhnlich, da gewöhnlicherweise Liebesgeschichten dann enden, wenn sich das Paar gefunden hat. Dies ist hier anders, was für mich etwas Besonderes darstellt. Aber es muss auch gesagt werden, dass sich alle Liebesgeschichten doch sehr ähnlich sind. Da hätte ich mir viel mehr Raffinesse gewünscht.

Auch die Geschichte um Solange, die es immernoch ablehnt Königin zu werden, wird weitergestrickt. Die mir bereits im ersten Teil sehr sympathischen Eltern Helena und Liam haben vorübergehend das Regieren übernommen. Und so stehen sie im Fokus aller, was die Sache nicht einfacher macht, denn Montmatre trachtet nach deren Leben, um zusammen mit Solange regieren zu können. So spitzt sich die Lage im zweiten Teil weiter zu.

Da Isabeau den Hounds zugehört, erfährt der Leser im zweiten Band mehr über diese spezielle Gattung von Vampiren, die im Vergleich zu normalen Vampiren zwei Zahnreihen aufweisen und sich der Magie zugewandt haben. So wird auch etwas mehr Licht in die doch im ersten Teil noch sehr verwirrende Clankonstellation gebracht, was für das Verständnis von Vorteil ist.

Fazit:

Der zweite Teil entwirrt die doch komplexen Clanstrukturen etwas, die Geschichte selbst wird spannend fortgeführt, jedoch hält die neue Liebespaarung wenig Überraschendes bereit.(less)

This book was so much better than the first one in the series. The first part "My Love Lies Bleeding", otherwise known as "Hearts at Stake" was all fluffy mindless teenage stuff. This one, however, has a lot more consistent writing and an actual story, instead of the perpetual whining and the Romeo and Juliet like rendition, nothing against Romeo and Juliet, but Shakespeare has already done it, it's over, leave it alone.
