Ok, I've only just started reading romance, and this mini is the reason why I've stayed away from them for so long. It's one of those stories where the 'twist' in the end is supposed to make everything ok, but it was just so cliched and stupid that I felt dumber for having read it. Thank goodness it was short enough that I was able to knock it over in my lunch break.

Alanna Richards used to be the mistress to one very wealthy Leon Andreakos. Can you guess his nationality? I don't know why this one wasn't titled The Greek Tycoon's Mistress's Secret. Too Long? Title was already taken? Anyway, back to the story. Something happened in their past that lead her to flee from him and is now living in borderline poverty. Four years she has managed to avoid him when she accidentally runs into him in a department store. Leon hasn't ever been able to get her out of his...more
In it's predictability this is a perfect example how a Harlequin novella should be written. It hits all the cliche's in a perfect harmony with feelings shown and felt, not told. My only complaint is that this was too short.
And I never-ever-ever give Harlequins more than three stars. Until now.

I hadn't read a harlequin story in a century :-) and now I remember why...too sweet and sugary and the women rarely have a backbone. Not my kind of story.
Ms James has a weakness for Greeks and their ladies. This is such a story. Crazy rich Greek guy meets poor English woman and takes her on as a lover. Stuff happens, and they end up getting married in the end, living happily ever after.
It's not a story that sticks with you, but it's a perfect read for the beach. Or the plane-ride as it were for me. I was done before we flew in over Italy.
A nice summer read.
