Read in January, 1980
it is funny, i suppose, how much time one spends attempting to justify their addiction. books, movies, music, watches, ceramic figurines.... it is amusing - or pathetic, depending on your vantage point - how far some people will go in order to make their particular addiction high-brow, or otherwise more acceptable.
being a comic-holic, i know this need well..... talking about Spiegelman's Maus, or The Watchmen, instead of admitting my love of Daredevil and the Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtles.....more

after i read 'the prisoners of the sun', i read this one. i was not disappointed :)! seriously good stuff. professor calculus is like one of those really out-of-it old people you can't help having a soft spot for. definately a good read.

Tintin, boy reporter to the rescue! In this volume Tintin and Captain Haddock have cause to believe that Professor Calculus has been kidnapped and so they are off in a wild chase through Herge's Europe to find him.

This is my representative sample of Tintin. Early graphic novels and adventure stories with a host of memorable characters, I'm very sorry if you were a kid without them.
