It's my book, I've gotta love it!

Another great instalment in the Dead Is series by Marlene Perez. In this 4th book it's Halloween time. I love Halloween, even though we don't celebrate it in Greece, and I love books taking placing during that time. So, of course, Halloween in Nightshade is not an exception. This time around, a lot of Nightshade's resident are being blackmailed. And everyone of the blackmailer's victims is a paranormal. So once again Daisy is on the case. Trying to figure out who is blackmailing half...more

I recently discovered this breezy little teenage paranormal detective series and quickly chomped through all four books. The latest installment, Dead is Just a Rumor, comes out this week (though releasing against Suzane Collin’s Mockingjay is not the best marketing move). Still, after you’ve torn through Mockingjay, if you find yourself depressed by the end, this series is the perfect antidote. These books are just fun – think the Scooby gang, or if Nancy Drew lived in a to...more

Yes, I love it. I actually adore these stories by Perez. I could not wait to get my hands on Dead is Just a Rumor! I couldn’t wait to start reading when I finally received a copy. In a couple hours, I was finished devouring it and totally satisfied to remain in love with the Dead is… series.
I love the jukebox, Daisy, Ryan, Sam, Poppy…let’s just say, I am a fan of the characters. The dad I am a little iffy with, but maybe because I grew to love this family while he was missing. Does that make m...more

This is the fourth book in the Dead Is series and it is really good. I like Dead is Just a Rumour because it's short (it only takes a couple of hours to read) and it is really entertaining. I love mysteries and this series is just full of them.

Daisy is a protagonist that is actually really awesome. She's a typical teenager apart from the fact that she has psychic powers but other than that she is really relatable and you can't help but love her.

I love Dead is Just a Rumour because it's really li...more

Another fun read from the series, this book has probably been my favorite of them this far. Another mystery in the town of Nightshade always keeps things interesting. A few new characters make their way into the pages, but it mainly centers around the same ones we have met before. We get to venture a little more into the lives of the Gordano family and now that Dad is there the family is larger. The book isn’t a keep-you-guessing type of a thing, if you think about it enough, you have all the cl...more

Eh, these are fun - like little bon bon treats. It only took a few pages to remember the characters and where we left off at the end of the third book. We find the Giordano sisters in fine form. Daisy is in her senior year, but having trouble with her dad, recently rescued from a 6-year captivity and now overprotective. He's got some reasons: someone is blackmailing the paranormal residents of Nightshade. Daisy is also involved with a cold case disappearance of the town matriarch's sister. Fun a...more

So guess who's back? Yep thats right Daisy Giordano is back and for those of you who read the other know that when Daisy's around there is always trouble. I really adore this series it's actually one of my favorite paranrmal nov els. Marlene Perez makes these books in this series full of all our favorite Paranormal friends Exmaple: Vampires, Werewolves, Witches, Shifters, Ghosts, Invisable people, Telepaths, mind readers, and last but not least Mermaids.

I never read a book without reading the previous books of the series...except now. I liked the description, and I thought why not? It would be great to read it for Halloween.

The thing is that, at first, I was kind of lost. The characters weren't really described, and I assume it was because they were described before, in the previous books. But still, I continue to read it because I started to get more information about everyone.

Quirky, fun fourth book in the "Dead Is" comic, paranormal, mystery series for teens

Halloween is always a big event in Nightshade, a small community running over with paranormal residents. But this year it is particularly huge, because it is the town's two-hundredth anniversary. The festive atmosphere is dampened, though, when many residents begin receiving blackmail letters and no one can figure out who is sending them. Daisy Giordano, whose psychic gifts include ESP and telekinesis, is determi...more

It’s Daisy’s senior year. She has an amazing boyfriend, an awesome best friend, loving sisters, and her dad is finally back! She assumes everything will be perfect from here on in. She couldn’t have been more wrong. Problem one: her dad. Though it’s great to have him back after all these years, he’s having problems adjusting. He treats Daisy like a twelve year old - like no time has passed since he’s been away. He rarely leaves the house, and gets worried easily, and worst of all, he al...more

Daisy and her sisters are back once more in Dead is Just a Rumor. This is the start of Daisy's senior year in high school, but her dad, newly returned from six years in the captivity of the Scourge, still sees Daisy as the twelve-year old girl he was stolen away from six years ago. While trying to understand that he has an adjustment to make, Daisy is frustrated because his restrictions and his obvious dislike of her boyfriend are ruining her senior year. When the paranormal members of the town

This is the fourth book in the “Dead Is…” series and is a quirky, fun paranormal mystery that doesn’t take itself too seriously. The story follows the misadventures of Daisy Giordano, a high school senior, who also happens to be part-telepathic, telekinetic and clairvoyant. She lives in Nightshade, an unusual town full of paranormals who are werewolves, mermaids, psychics, shape-shifters or even invisible. As the community prepares to celebrate Nightshade’s 200th anniversary on Halloween, darkne...more

Synopsis: After defeating the doppelgangers in Marlene Perez's last Dead is book, Daisy finally has her father back in her life after a six year disappearance. With her two older sisters still living at home, her boyfriends werewolf-ness out in the open and her job at the diner, life should be great for Daisy.

Her father still sees Daisy as the twelve year old girl she...more

Dead Is Just a Rumor is another solid entry in the "Dead Is..." series. The town of Nightshade is preparing to celebrate its 200th anniversary and Daisy is quite over-extended in terms of school, work, helping with the preparations, trying to squeeze in time for her werewolf boyfriend Ryan, and worrying about college applications and the future. Oh, and she's won a series of cooking lessons in a contest with a woman, Circe Silvertongue, who proves to truly be a real...well...witch--and not a Gli...more

Nightshade is never a normal or peaceful town, there are many strange things happen to challenge Daisy's life. Her father just came back, which seems tone a joyful thing. But the six years of parting creates a big gap between them, Daisy feels so uncomfortable about it. Her father treat her like a little kid, but she is a senior now, the past six years won't come back. Me and my father had been separate for six years too, the first time I saw him after the parting was wired, I even can't find a...more

I have been recommending this series since I first discovered it and the latest installment is a wonderful addition. I just don't know why it took me so long to read it. It was the first book I bought for my new e reader. Each book has Daisy solving a crime with her psychic powers, although her powers didn't really evolve until the second book in the series, Dead is a State of Mind. You can easily read this one without having read any of them, but I think it adds to them by reading them in order...more

Much, much better than the last one!!

Things are about to heat up for Daisy and her little town of Nightshade. Nightshade is planning its 200th Anniversary Party and it would go off without a hitch if citizens weren't getting blackmailed and someone wasn't writing terrible things about Daisy and Ryan on the bathroom walls. As always, Daisy is determined to get to the bottom of Nightshade's Problems. But it won't be as easy as she thinks this time around.

My great, trouble-making Daisy is back! If...more

The author doesn't go into depth about anything. She skips from plot point to plot point with no real description. The characters are like cardboard cutouts: lifeless. Everything they say sounds completely fake. I can never imagine real people talking the way Daisy and her friends talk. Its like Perez has completely forgotten what it was like to be a teenager and thinks this is what they really sound like.
Her writing is subpar. That's part of the reason why her books are so short. I've heard the...more

'Dead Is Just a Rumor' is the fourth book in Marlene Perez's "Dead Is" series.

The quality of this series does not diminish in the fourth book. Daisy Giordano, now a high school senior as well as a budding psychic and telepath, is her usual spunky, curious, coffee-craving self. This time, she's worrying about how college will affect her relationship with Ryan Mendez, adjusting to living with her father Rafe again, puzzling over the mystery of Lil the jukebox, worrying about blackmail letters the...more

When I was looking for a book in the library, this book immediately caught my eye. At first, I read the title and wanted to find out more about this fantastic book. Then, I read the back of the book, and I fell in love with the story. This book takes place in a town called Nightshade where the residents living there all have special powers. Everything seems to be going swell while they plan for their two hundreth Halloween anniversary until the main character, Daisy finds out that there are sus...more

I would recommend the book “Dead is Just a Rumor” by Marlene Perez to a friend because it has an easy plot and setting, multiple interesting characters, and has a love, romance and story that would charm the heart and soul. The setting of the book takes place in the town on Nightshade at Slim’s, a small, retro diner, Nightshade High, or the Wilder Mansion, a high maintenance, expensive restaurant. You may also find the setting to be at the Black Opal, an all-age’s club, where bands play and foo...more

It's the beginning of Daisy Giordano's senior year at Nightshade High and (for once) everything is peaceful in her strange hometown. After six years as a captive of the paranormal-hating Scourge, Daisy's dad is finally home. And even though Mr. Giordano is having some difficulty adjusting to freedom and to the fact that his three daughters grew up while he was away, IT IS GOOD to have him home. Daisy just wishes he'd stop being so overprotective and back off her boyfriend Ryan Mendez a little bi...more

The town of Nightshade has never been what one might call "normal". In fact, it's really more para-normal. With ghosts, vampires, werewolves, witches, telepaths, an invisible man, and an allegedly haunted jukebox, there's not much normal about Nightshade at all.

Now in her senior year, with her father recently returned from years of being held prisoner by the anti-paranormal group, the Scourge, and her boyfriend coming to grips with his own wolfy behavior...more

Everywhere Daisy goes, trouble isn't that far behind her.

Dead is Just a Rumor is the fourth book in the Dead Is Series by Marline Perez. As usual, our protagonist and psychic Daisy Giordano is once again having to come to terms with yet another change and challenge in her life; the return of her father Rafe Giordano after 6 years of being held hostage by the dreaded and evil Scourge because he was researching the paranormal community.

The Scourge,...more

Dead Is Just a Rumor is the fourth book in the Dead Is series, set in Nightshade, California, and psychic Daisy Giordano is still adjusting to her father's return to the family after years in captivity. Daisy's father has missed all of her teenage years, so to him, she's still a little girl, which means that her dad is deeply uncomfortable with Daisy's boyfriend, Ryan. Meanwhile, Nightshade is preparing for its two hundredth anniversary, and someone is celebrating by blackmailing NIghtshade resi...more

I've never read any of the other books in this series, but this is a great stand-alone book, too. Daisy comes from a family of psychics and the town of Nightshade is full of other paranormals - werewolves, shifters, witches, too. It's Halloween time and also the 200th anniversary of the town itself - so this is a big deal! Daisy's helping out her friends set up for the party, trying to ease her overprotective father's worries, deal with a snoopy school counselor, and take cooking lessons from a...more
