War has broken out and boy, is it ever-exciting. The body count is high and likely to mount even higher. Can't wait to read the remaining two volumes. This is Batman at his finest.

This is the first comic book I have read in my life and I think they are really cool. I love Batman he is a super hero with no powers and still can do awesome. This comic is a really good one but, what should I know it is my first. The comic book has great illustrations the drawings look very graphic. The characters in the book are very alike to the actual personality of the movie characters. I like the book because it has action and mystery, my two favorite styles.

So much happens here. Spoiler is rash, brash, and just a little boring. Barbara is frustrated by Batman treating Oracle like a secretary. Nightwing is dealing with Blockbuster's death. Cameo from Tarantula is fun. Tim, having stopped being Robin, finds that his school can still be taken over by gang members trying to off the daughter of a mafia boss. And the entire bat-family goes without discussion.

Let me say that last bit again, in case you don't understand how momentous that...more

I read all three volumes of this hulk in one day, which attests to it being a quick read, but mostly to it being a compelling read. I was up until 2:00 AM blowing through the third volume, where the mystery antagonist being outed and becoming visibly active kicks the story up that last notch, especially since he/she is a totally different kind of quirky villain in that darkly understated way. It’s slow to start and has a poor sense of the city really being in chaos since the story is told almost...more

I just finished the second volume of this set. I picked it up due to Ed Brubaker doing some of the writing.

Overall, it's hard to read. It's one of those stories that crosses through different series. It suffers from a lack of continuous narration. A better telling of this type of story is that in the JLA: Babel Tower, in which Batman's plans are used against him.

This reminds me so much of the Apocalypse saga (X-Men). Maybe it's just the multiple writers and distinct sections of narrative that are divvied out. Anyway, this is a fun read, if you're not expecting to be enthralled.

I had forgotten how entertaining a good Batman story can be. This one does an especially good job focusing on the whole expanded Gotham crowd.
