I love this comic. It is what it says it is, "a comic book history of Boston," where I lived at the time I bought it. I was obsessed with Boston history while I lived there, and my only true regret is that I wasn't MORE obsessed with it. That I didn't do ALL THE HISTORICAL THINGS, that I left some undone thinking I'd have more time, and then I ran out of time and moved. So, this brought some of that back to me. Most of the art and stories in it are great and well organized, some of them ...more
This is a brilliant collection of short comics on various figures and events in Boston history. The stories are as varied as the styles in which they are told and each different artist seems to have alighted on a story that suits his or her style perfectly. Not only were the vast majority of individual pieces very entertaining and engaging, but a lot of them were very informative and interesting as well. I wish every city had an equivalent volume! What a fun and well-done project!
picked this up at the CCAE craft fair in harvard square-- met the publisher (?) and told me i was a history teacher, said that i'd send him a review. (; overall, i was impressed! a good mix of art- some more graphic novel-y, some more comic bookish; a really good mix of stories: some virtually unknown fascinating ones, others very known but told well. now that i know Inbound exists i'm going to pick up the rest and support my local comic community!
A great little graphic history of Boston from the 1600s to today. It suffers from the classic anthology problem of some weak pieces, but for the most part there's a lot of fun, interesting, entertaining and well-drawn history. Recommended for all New Englanders, for sure.
