In this volume, Bauer describes the naval history of the Mexican War, where the US Navy engaged in actions in a variety of widely separated theaters. These actions ranged from blockade duty to supply convoys and to the capture of coastal towns. The most obvious successes, Bauer writes, was Scott’s landing at Veracruz, and Bauer doubts whether even a modern navy could have done a better job.
