Heart-aching-teen-throbbing-moviestar fans are not to be messed with. We know what we want- cliche breakups, Big City drama, drugs, sex.. The whole 20 yards that the star quaterback on the football team would throw just to see the hot girl with no sense of reality, cheer him on. All of that, with a dramatic twist. But, don't forget the cherry on top of that sundae.

The name of this book is called Only in your dreams by Cecily von Ziegesar. Of course as part of the gossip girl series it has a lot of drama and its very intense with much gossip around with everyone in the book. Its the summer before they all head off to college and its a very sizzling one because Blair goes to London with her boyfriend Lord Marcus. He of course is very high in his power and in where he lives in. Chuck is a bit jealous of their relationship. Nate goes back to the Hamptons. The...more
Things I liked:
-book 9 and beyond tell you about the summer after there senior year so I think this series *could* end right before they are all freshmen in college.
Cecily could've ended this awesome series after our favorite upper east siders graduated from Contance Billard but she didn't, she's keeping this story going and that makes me really happy!
-The interesting storylines!

This book is another good book by Cecily von Ziegesar. It takes place during the summer after everybody's senior year at high school. Blair is happy with her new French boyfriend and Nate is spending the summer on his parent's vote. Serena is staying in New York, living life like the actress that she is and is going shoppping everyday. Vanessa's sister is back in town and her new boyfriend is taking Vanessa's room. Hence, Vanessa has to go to live with Dan, who is nervous about it. Their summer...more

I am shamelessly addicted to the CW show Gossip Girl, so I figured I should read one of the books. In Book 9, the characters were similar. I kept comparing as I read, but realized that I liked them just the same. Oh, Cecily von Ziegesar, you are a smart cookie. Writing a book aimed at teens about rich teens who do all the bad things real teens dabble in. Writing a book that's centered around a blog. Writing a book that offers chapters in short snippets to capture teen TRL attention spans. I wish...more
Gossip Girl books are very entertaining. Even though there is a t.v show for the series,in every book you can picture everything thats going on; just as if you were watching the show itself. Basically, the Gossip Girl books are about the lives of the Upper Eastside's richest most popular i-have-everything-and-more type of teens. Most people think these types are stuck up and snotty. But in reality, they have problems just as everyone else. In this particular story, everyone is preparing for coll...more

The ninth book in the Gossip Girl series creatively written by the ever-catty Cecily von Ziegescar, Only In Your Dreams, is the eight book I’ve read in the year 2013.
Have you ever tried reading a book where in the first fifty pages were just plain boring and you almost gave up reading the whole thing and then you realized it’s the last page? Well, this book is certainly entertaining. In the begi...more

What do I REALLY think of this book? Let me spell it for you: B-O-R-I-N-G! At least Nate finally got over his crying spurts. Actually, this book makes it feel like that never even happened. But anyways, let me just break down the repetitive storyline for you: Serena attempts to be an actress and falls for her co-star, Thad (surpirse, surprise). Vanessa and Dan are on the mend and then break up again after Vanessa finds Dan with another girl (surprise, surprise). Blaire looses that Lord guy, fall...more

Only in Your Dreams takes place during the last summer before the gang heads off to college. Blair is across the Atlantic with Lord Marcus. Serena is given an apartment as she prepares for her new movie role in the modern version of Breakfast at Tiffany's; Vanessa is also working on the film. Daniel has a job at the famous Strand bookstore, while Nate is working off his graduation deal by fixing his coach's house. I'm importing a lot of these reviews from my blog, so these are from the point at which I read these books. This was the first Gossip Girl book I read, and I went on to read the first book within a week of reading this one, so I must have liked it more than it sounds here:
This book wasn't very good, but I still read it in pretty much one sitting. The most surprising thing about it wasn't the sex (a lot of sex was alluded to, but no one actually had any) but how much the characters smoked. They a...more

People reading the GG series
How I Came To Read This Book: I just kept on reading the GG series…I think this is one of the last, if not the last one I read / own, other than the prequel.
The Plot: Graduation is over, but we’ve still got a summer with our stars before they go their separate ways and the series runs it course (unlike the TV show, which has actually flourished outside of that pesky high school environment). Blair is off in London with her British Lord of a boyfriend with wedding bells ringing in her head. Seren...more

I agree with what some of the other people are saying this book is no where near as good as the other books, it seems as if ever since the kids graduated the author has run out of ideas. And those reviewers who are complaining about how this book isn't apporiate for younger readers, shoud know this book is for ages 16 and up and every 16 year old has heard or used the "f" word at least once in their lives. Yes there is a lot of sex, drugs, and bad language but that's a part of the real world.
Hm. I think I've simply outgrown Gossip Girl novels. I used to love reading them a few years ago but now that I'm older and watched (& enjoyed) season 1 and 2 of the series, it's just like a lolly that has been licked too many times. All the mentioning of clothing labels and designer brands in every chapter were annoying all of a sudden and the characters did their same old same, Serena and Blair ex-friends, best-friends again, Blair over Nate, Blair still into Nate, Dan not with Vanessa, Da...more
After reading "Nothing Can Keep Us Together" It show some promising start. I just felt like the story left a bad-taste in my mind and left me just unsatisfied. I felt like the plots didn't go well and there was no really explanation. I mean you can't expect much from Gossip Girl, but at least give us a reason. Like Blair with Marcus, Serena and Nate. As for Dan and Vanessa, I didn't really cared for them thought. I might read the next one, but probably won't be awhile.
While I liked this somewhat more than the last book, I just want to shake these characters. They are all so caught up in themselves, and it usually takes them until the end of the book to figure out what is going on. And that can get pretty boring for the reader. Especially if you're me and you're just rereading these books, you kind of already remember what happens. If you're a pre-teen person, read the series, if not, go find another book.
It's the month of June and Serena's playing a modern version of Holly Golightly in a movie, Blair spends some time in London with Marcus, Nate's doing construction in the Hamptons, and Dan & Vanessa are living in the city breaking up and getting back together and whatever. I'm a little tired of how quickly these kids jump into and out of relationships, but I still can't wait to find out what crazy stuff they do next.
This is the last gossip girl book before, Blair, Serena, Nate go to College. Blair is with Lor Marcus. Serena is working on therter here in NYC, Remaking Breakfast at Tiffany's (Fred's) Nate is hooking up with girls and trying to hide the fact that he still likes Blair.
I can make a text to world connection. In this book, all the people who are going to College forget about their old friends. Blair and Serena are in a maybe Fued and Nate is hating himself for hooking up with Jenny in the bathro...more

after this one, I stopped reading these books, because they didn't represent a life. They represented a bunch of spoiled brats who were idiots due to the fact that they were privileged. Yes, some dealt with major issues, but the rest.... I kept reading these, hoping there would be more to these people than just the dope they had the next morning. but obviously there wasn't.
These books are my brain candy. I enjoy them, but I don't love them. One a year about fills my craving.
This particular book mainly discusses the difficulties characters have in finding or keeping a job after high school graduation and stabilizing their relationships. Most of the characters make me laugh in some way or another. They're all really meant to be over the top and ridiculous, or just plain stupid at times.

ok, so besides the fact that this is NOT AT ALL how movie-making goes, i am a fan of this one just because nate and serena aren't together anymore. plus, serena is unable to do something and is bothered by it! and blair can help her out! such nice round characters. i mean characterization, of course. not waistlines.

I didn't like the plot of this book. It was stupid. It was kind of nice to see that the girls had a "real side" with Serena not being able to act even though everything kind of comes easy to her but the whole idea that all of a sudden she's a star is kind of dumb. I didn't really like this book.
I read the whole series of gossip girl. I loved these books when I was in high school. They definitely are a read for older kids, may not be appropriate fro thise of a younger age. However, it is definitely a good read that keeps you turnig the page.

This book is pretty good and the story is also nice as well. Even though some chapters are a little disappointing, I still think this is a good book for everyone. Love this book and overall; a good book for everyone but an excellent book for Gossip Girl readers.
I felt like very little happened in this book. I also found some continuity errors and typos.
One of the things that annoys me about Serena, Nate, and Blair is that they sometimes seem so dissociative and vapid in their thinking...like thinking is just soooo hard and they can't quite wrap their brains around something obvious. They feel annoyed, confused, or unsettled, but because they don't like the unpleasant feeling, their brains circumvent thoughts that would lead to that feeling.
