This is a great series!
I gave a lengthy review of book one, High Country Bride and book two was just as strong. When I picked up this book, the third in the series, I was worried it would be hard to follow the first two and I might be disappointed, but I can say I wasn't!
From the first pages of this one, where Chloe Wakefield or McKettrick (depending on who you ask) blows into town, Indian Rock and Jeb McKettrick are never the same.

Secondhand Bride, the third book (following High Country Bride & Shotgun Bride) of four in the McKettrick Cowboy series, which tells the story of four brothers and their attempts to find wives and become fathers in order to inherit the Triple M Ranch.
So far this is my favorite book of the three! Secondhand Bride gives us Jeb's story and that of his love interest Chloe. I liked Jeb's "wild" character and understood his insecurities around being the "baby" brother and his need to establish hi...more

Story picks up after Kade's story in Shotgun Bride. This is Jeb's story. If you don't know the story, here goes. Angus the Patriarch of the family issues the decree that he will bestow all of his holdings on the first son to get married. Now Rafe and Kade are now married and in the previous story Jeb eludes to the fact that he is already married but he never produces the bride. Chloe is the firecracker that Jeb married, they were married less than a day when he is approached by a man that tells...more
Another wonderful book about the McKettricks and their women, though the hero and heroine are my least favorites so far of this generation. Despite that, the interactions among all the McKettricks and their friends and the fast moving plot made this a fun, absorbing read.

First line: "There was no place to run to, no place to hide."
I found this story dissatisfying because, while I liked both the hero and heroine independently, I just wasn't feeling the chemistry between them. Miller does have an interesting style, which includes lots of secondary characters and storylines. Initially, that means not a lot of character building time, but over the course of the series, her huge cast have grown and taken shape into a full community. It is an interesting way to write...more

First thought when Finished: Favorite of the series for me!
I really loved Jeb and Chloe! They were just two of the most hard-headed, stubborn, funny, and delightful characters that I have read. I wasn't even sure who had me shaking my head the most. Though really it was Lizzy-beth that sold the book to me. She was a delightful child that spoke her mind and made me really warm up to Angus (the father of...more

Never read a romance novel with so many secondary characters given first person points of view. It can make for the lead couple getting lost but I still actually really like it since the secondary characters are pretty interesting in their own right and lend to the over all picture of the historical time period the books are set around (late 1880s Arizona/Texas). Out of the four McKettrick brothers (in which the four books are centered) I like Holt the best and the way the books are written I go...more

Enjoyed this book very much. Would recommend it if you like western romances with humor to it. This is the 3rd book in the Mckettrick Cowboys series. I've read the first two & enjoyed them also. This can be a standalone book but its best if you read the other two first, High Country Bride & Shotgun Bride. This is a humorous book. Both main characters are stubborn of course. There is a bad guy gunslinger killer on the loose. Things are never dull on the triple M & the circle C or in I...more

Luckily for this reader book 3 of what was originally a trilogy wasn't an unnecessary entry to the series. As usual the breezy writing style of this series had me smiling about more "innocent times" as Jeb has to decide if he has a wife or not! This installment picks up immediately after Shotgun Bride ends and wastes no time laying the groundwork for Jeb & Chloe's star turns.

The third in the McKettrick Brothers' series...Jeb and Chloe.
Jeb is the youngest and most wild of the brothers. His charm and good looks have gotten his everywhere in life...until Chloe. He married her in Tombstone only to find that she was already married to another man, so he headed back home to the Triple M. Now Chloe has come to Indian Rock and isn't happy about the way he left her behind because she says they are married.

I have to say this isn't my favorite of the series but I certainly liked this book Because it was a end to the argument for the triple m ranch. It didn't have the excitement like the fourth book and Adventure. I actually read the fourth book first and then started from Rafe Kade then Jeb lol... The only thing I would've liked to not have in this book was that Holt had feelings for Chloe. In fact for some reason the author made Holt have connections with all three girls which was kind of odd ......more
I REALLY liked this book. It sucked me in from page 1. I didn't have any inclination to read it but I read the first page and had to keep going, and going, and going. BUT, I only gave it 3 stars because there were two steamy parts I had to skim through. It could have been better without it.
Also, I didn't know this was the third book in the series, but now that I've read it, I'm not going to read the others, I don't feel like I missed anything.

This book was almost a five star read for me, I loved the story, the characters, the situations... Jeb and Chloe were a lot of fun to read about, but what kept it from being five stars for me was Jeb's distrust for Chloe the entire book! It started to get on my nerves a little. But I still really, really enjoyed this story and the way the entire McKettrick family was in it! And I'm liking Holt more and more and can't wait to read his story!
This is the third of the McKettrick books. These books actually read as one book, with the story of the last book picking up with no time lapse on the first page of the next book. This is the story of the baby brother Jeb and his wife Chloe. Once again, marshalls, ranchers, gunslingers and hookers. A quick read -- I'm thinking I'll read book 4 which finishes the McKettrick brothers, and that might be it for westerns for a while.
I am not one to read a book quickly. It takes weeks for me to finish a book b/c I usually read a chapter or two when I go to sleep but that wasn't the case this time. I could not stop reading. I had to know what happened to all of the characters in the book. I wanted to see the lead female role Chloe happy and the lead male Jeb to stop being a dumbass. And it took place in the 1800s with a bunch of cowboys. Yeehaw! Read it.
I would consider 3.5 stars for this just based on the how well written Chole is. I love this character and Jeb is no slouch either. This is my favorite from the series McKettrick Cowboys. All the brothers are pit against one another when their father aannounces that the first to marry and produce a grandchils will take over the triple m ranch... this is Jeb's story on how he plans to accomplish that.
Chloe meets Jeb McKettrick in Tombstone and falls for his smooth ways she gives in to a little fun, and then marries the man. Well on the wedding night the snake leaves her high and dry just because he finds out she had been married before. Although she did not tell him. Her ex-husband of 1 whole day is the one to spill the beans. Jeb leaves her high and dry in Tombstone thinking she is still married to that skum Jack.
When she looses her teaching job because of Jeb's big mouth. She has to find...more

Loved this book, only would have loved it more if I would have read it in order, read High Country Bride and on inside cover of this book Secondhand Bride is listed second but it should have been third. The Characters were very interesting and little Lizzie kept me reading. The end of the book is Unbelieveable, but I can't talk about that without giving to much away.
Chloe is my favorite Mrs. McKettrick such a lovely crazy girl, she was so great to read and she wanted so badly to love my beloved Holt instead of Jeb. This story was so fun to read, Jeb seemed different than his brothers so it was a nice change to read. I really liked it, but Chloe was the main reason I enjoyed it.
I like the historical basis of the book though I am not sure how accurate it is. Not a bad romance novel, light on the sex descriptions which is nice because some romance novels lean way too heavily on that. Interesting characters and it is part of a series and I would not mind reading the rest of the series.

This McKettrick book is based around Jeb and his wife, a teacher! This probably helped play this book into my heart. Jeb is upset with Chloe when he finds out shes been married before, and there is a dispute about the legality of their marriage. Chloe's ex-husband is involved, as well as a surprise for Holt!
I liked the book, and I enjoy the series, but as a romance novel it failed to provide me with the chemistry to make the outcome convincing. Since I don't go into it as a romance novel, I am o...more

I liked this book better than books 1 or 2. It had more interaction between main characters Jeb and Chloe. Jeb made me chuckle and I loved Lizzie! I will again, say, I wish there was more romance and steam. That being said I really did enjoy this book.
