Boutenko has the recipe for improving your health and preventing disease: Green Smoothies. She makes a very convincing argument that the average person in today's modern world is not getting enough greens in their diet. Her solution is to make green smoothies. Boutenko draws a distinction between "greens" and "vegetables". Greens can actually mix well with fruits. She advocates purchasing a high speed blender (e.g. a Vitamix) and then mixing greens (spinach, kale, lettu...more

I learned that we can get so much more from greens than I thought-namely protein. I always knew that getting more greens was important to a healthy diet, but this book taught me how to do it easily. In the book, there are many claims about benefits of drinking greens in smoothies the author calls "green drinks"--everything from helping you lose weight to battling depression(who knows?). I tried the green drinks myself and am happy with the results I am getting because I feel like my...more

This author lives an extreme raw foods lifestyle and it is hard for me to believe still that she grew out of grey hair and her whole family ran a 10K just like that... but beside all of that over-convincing she does for some reason, there is good information about absorbtion of vitamins from green vegetables that makes a lot of sense in relation to stomach acid and other digestion issues. I have tried several of the sweet smoothies and they are really delicious especially with ice. I did not b...more

Drink Green Smoothies. No really. Change your life and make it happen. You'll be so happy you did. That's the message Victoria Boutenko repeats in her book Green For Life. It's a good message but the book doesn't have much more than that. This is the kind of book you pick up from the Library as you can read it quickly and get everything you need from it in one sitting.
Having said all that it's an important message Victoria Boutenko has and it's a book worth seeking out.

Still learning, but I haven't read a non-fiction book this fast in forever! Started yesterday and at this rate I'll be done in 2 days! This book relates the typical american diet to the diet of Chimpanzees (who share 99% of our DNA), and gives facts, studies and examples of how us Americans can introduce more greens, fruits & veggies into their diet to improve health and cure disease. So interesting!

This book is another must-have reference book for anyone wanting to change their life by changing the way they eat. The book is all about how eating and blending greens (romaine, kale, mustard, turnip, parsley, beet, celery, cucumbers, etc.) can change your life for the better.

I learned a lot from this book and felt it was well worth the read. A simple way to add more "greens" to my diet.
It meets the needs of those who are seeking to move from a standard American diet into a healthier lifestyle, as well as those who have "been raw" for years.

This is a great book to help you get more green in your diet. The author is all about these green smoothies. It really makes it easy to get even a little green (actually a lot) in your diet everyday. Some of the ideas are a little fanatic, but the idea of needing lots of green in your diet is something I definitely believe in. It is a doable thing.

Great starter book to learn about Green Smoothies and increasing greens into the diet. Before this book, I had no idea what kale was. And I had no idea stinging nettles and dandelions were edible. Dandelions are actually pretty good, but take A LOT to chew. I have at least 3 green smoothies a week and love my blender!

Greens smoothies are a way of life for us now. We started making them before I heard of the book, through a raw food web suggestion and then I found out about this book and read it cover to cover in a day. It is inspiring. Taking control of your health through food is the way to go.

Good recipies, interesting ideas, fanatic. The green shakes are very tasty, and she offers a lot of good research, but she starts advocating that we drink all our food and do jaw exercises so our jaw muscles don't deteriorate from not chewing.

Wow! What a life changing book. It's fascinating to me what our bodies can do when we eat live foods most, if not all, of the time. Just adding a "green smoothie" to your diet is so beneficial to your health.

This book reinforces Natalia Rose's writings with the exception of fiber. Victoria says consume the fiber in healthy easy to drink smoothies. The recipes are great, and so are the health benefits.

I really enjoyed this book and learned so much about the way our bodies use food. It was very interesting and educational, but easy to understand. And I'm trying green smoothies now!
