a personal legal thriller

JR Reardon's "Confidential Communications" explores what happens when a young attorney tries to hold firm on her ethics in the face of an impending national crisis.

Becky Lawson, brand-new independent lawyer in Deering, Vermont, attracts a new client, a high-wheeling investment company. They want her to investigate a suspicious employee and hopefully find a way to get him fired. Lawson eventually uncovers a huge financial coverup that is large enough to take down the US...more

Rebecca Lawson is a new lawyer who moved to a small Vermont town to start her practice. The story begins when she meets Charlie and starts to date him. I loved how she fibbed about another guy checking her out in order to figure out how serious Charlie was about her. This was funny, and there are many times when Rebecca thinks something that made me laugh, which was good because I love humor and I found it helped to ease some of the tension. This book is filled with some tense moments, so a bala...more

"Confidential Communications" is J. R. Reardon's first book, but you can hardly tell after the first chapter.

This book will grab your attention if you are at all interested in law, mystery, betrayal, and action. Just when you thought you had the story figured out, another twist was added to make you rethink all the character roles. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The characters are greatly played out and the hint of comedy and sarcasm was just right.

While this story was meant to be fiction, it re...more

It turns the tables on the legal system… and entertains us every step of the way!

We’ve all heard the endless string of lawyer jokes that are so popular – we may have even told a few ourselves. This novel effectively turns the tables on our faulty perception of the legal profession. This novel is written from the unusual perspective of an ethical attorney and the high price she pays for keeping her integrity.

The novel begins quietly as befits the small town of Deering, Vermont. We learn all abo...more

J.R. Reardon's Confidential Communications is a legal thriller that fits all too well in today's corrupt world of financial scams. Reardon must have been looking into her crystal ball as she penned this exciting story.
When Rebecca Lawson, a young, small town, Vermont lawyer takes on Allan Richards, the owner of Financial Investments, as a client, she gets way more than she bargains for. Hired to investigate an employee's potential wrongdoings, Lawson finds herself waist deep in trouble as she u...more

Aha, a writer whose stuff I've actually read!
Always great to meet another crime writer. I've a couple coming out over the next few months myself and I'm posting the pilots on You Tube VERY shortly.

As I authored this book, I do not feel it fair to rate it. But as far as writing it, I wholeheartedly enjoyed it, and give the process 5 stars.

I bought this book based on a high Goodreads rating, but it is by far one of the worst books I have ever read. Heroine is unlikable and the story is not very interesting. I did not even care to finish the book.
