Recommends it for: Readers who like those sexy southern Georgia boys
This book is sinfully good! Ever so slow mind-blowing sex (and you don’t have to wait long to get it either!), a hero built like a Greek god, oozing that lethal Georgia charm, who will just leave you gasping for air whenever he talks! It’s a fast paced page turner with a love story that will have you sighing many an “ohhh man” and then you’ll feel like jelly once you’ve managed to catch your breath (lol!)

Brett, aka Hotwire,is so cocksure of himself but you just can’t hate him because he turns on

Claire Sharp is good at minding her own business and keeping her head down. She's been busy trying to fit four years of school into three but then suddenly she's viciously and inexplicably attacked in her own home and she can't think of who would be out to get her. There was trouble with her former roommate but now her ex roommate is off on her honeymoon, enjoying her post wedding bliss, and there is no one to protect her. She's alone and scared, waking up after her attack in the hospital, but t ...more

Of the three Mercenary books by Monroe, this one is my least favorite. Which doesn't meant I didn't like it, because I did...I just liked the other 2 more. There was something almost...I don't know...sappy?...about it. I guess I'm saying it didn't have the same edge as the other two. But I did still like it!

This last story features Brett and Claire, who we got a preview of in book 2 where they started setting off sparks whenever they were near each other. Claire's a loner computer

This wasn’t my favorite of the Mercenary series, but I did like it quite a bit. Brett, aka Hotwire, can’t stop thinking about Claire since he met her a few months before at mutual friends’ home. They meet up again at a wedding and all he can think of is how attracted he is to her. He makes it clear that he is into the ‘no strings attached’ kind of relationship with women. She hears the message loud and clear. She ends up getting into a dangerous situation, and Bret jumps in to protect her. I thi ...more

Hotwire is the last of the 3 mercenaries to find love. Claire is Josie's roommate and we met her in the previous book Willing. I liked how Clair was portrayed. She was a computer geek but not shown to be totally impervious to the world around her. Hotwire was such an appealing hero. Who won't want this sexy Georgia boy trying to seduce them?

Good if you liked the first two books. I would not recommend this as a stand alone book.

But if you liked the first two books in the trilogy, (Ready, Willing, And Able), then I would recommend it. The first book had great plot and characters. The second had great feelings. In this book, the plot and characters were not that interesting to me, the sex was not that good. I'm glad I read it, but I can't explain why, other than the fact that I loved the first two.

Sexual content: not evaluated. I read

This book was by far the weakest in this trilogy. As some other reviewers have mentioned, the mystery/action subplot stays very much in the backseat (while the hero and heroine pash in the front) with only a rushed and banal resolution.

However, my main issue was that the hero and heroine irritated me. Claire didn't make any sense to me. She was so oblivious and stubborn. Would this really happen?
She’d never forget the stress or embarrassment of having to explain to the officers who answered the

Sexy, Explosive Read

AND ABLE is the last of the trilogy which I hate to see ending, but Lucy has penned an powerful and emotional read.

Claire Sharpe is Josie's best friend and had been her roommate up until Josie's marriage. She is very smart, independent and witty with lots of sass. Ex-mercenary/solider, Brett (Hotwire) Adams, a computer expert is in partnership with his best friend, Wolf, in the Security Consulting business has installed a security system at Nitro's request on Josie's house. And Able, the conclusion of mercenary trio series was sensual, sensitive, steamy and full of Southern charm. Lucy Monroe has yet again penned a very powerful book which portrays two characters that have been drawn to each other for a long time. Claire Sharpe, smart, witty and full of sass is a loner due to loosing her father and mother at a young age, under difficult circumstances. Brett Adams has been raised in a "charmed" life but is the families back sheep. Instead of becoming the lawyer, he ...more

This is the final book in Lucy Monroe’s Mercenary Trilogy.

Brett “Hotwire” Adams is a former merc turned security expert who’s not too keen on the commitment thing, but is very keen on getting into Claire Sharp’s bed. He’s been avoiding her, but when she’s attacked in her home, he’s forced into her company. Which isn’t very good for his self control. Aside from his attraction to her, the protective alpha-male needs her to be safe. Trying to discover who’s after her isn’t easy when he’s always got

The characters we have met in the past two books, Ready and Willing, Claire Sharp and Brett "Hotwire" Adams are the most intriguing and realistic couple, with a more true kind of relationship. Brett has vowed to never fall in love and Claire resists the idea of an uncommitted sexual liaison. The chemistry between the two is highly combustible and carries the reader steadily to the last page.

The plot is a different matter. Claire is attacked in her own bed, despite Brett's safety measures, and ev

Claire has never had a passionate lover. However, when her life is in danger from something she has no idea about, Hotwire comes in to rescue her from it. Will the both be able to face their true feelings for each other before her attacker make another move?

This book is a little less amusing than the other two books in this series, but it still had great descriptions and events. However, the indecis

Okay, so it wasn't a vast improvement from the previous two books, but it came across a little freshed, so it deserved a little higher rating (since we don't get half stars, it got a whole one).

Yes, the suspense pretty much went down the drain after it was revealed why the baddies were after Claire, I'd like to see a little more ambiguity to keep things more interesting, but it was okay, I guess. It lasted longer than before, at least.

The characters for once didn't make me flinch (overly much).

This is the last book in the trilogy. It is about Claire Sharp who is finishing up her college degree for computer science. She was also the roommate and bestfriend of Josie.
Claire works at a Assisted Resisantant Home, and she has made friends with two of the older folks. One gentleman is losing his memory and Claire looks on him as a grandfather figure. When he dies she takes it hard. When someone breaks into her home and tries to kill her Brett Adams (Hotwire) steps up and becomes her savior.

Who knew working in a nursing home could be life threatening for an absent-minded computer science under-grad? Claire Sharp is living alone after Josie, her roommate/best friend/ex-merc, moved in with Daniel "Nitro" Black Eagle. After a break-in and attempt on her life, Brett "HotWire" Adams (Josie and Nitro's fellow soldier) insists on becoming involved.

This book sadly was like the last one i read...really good plot but disappointing writing. This one may have been even worse. First of all the male lead is referred to as hotwire through half the book, a nickname which is never explained and to me very juvenile. Second during the sex scenes the author started resembling a 12 year old boy in speech. "'nads'", boobs, and the phrase penis hard enough to drill ____(insert hard object here) were found several times through the book which killed the m ...more

I enjoyed the Mercenary series and most of the Goddard Project books, but this one is probably my favorite (this is my 2nd or 3rd reading). I haven't figured out what it is about Hotwire/Brett and Claire that I like so much. Their banter is great, the chemistry scorching, and their respect for one another's abilities is obvious. Claire contributes to solving the mystery, and is brave without being TSTL. It was pure pleasure watching Brett take care of Claire: easing her pain after the attack, he ...more

Contemporary action/romance with unprotected sex the first time (they get carried away).

This is the 3rd book in the Mercenary Series. You could probably get away with reading it as a stand alone, but the characters in the other 2 books are part of the story. This is Brett & Claire's book. It's a good story about Claire's friend at the retirement home being a former assassin. Trouble finds Claire & of course Brett is there to protect & serve!

This was my favorite of the three books. The characters were well developed and captivating. Claire had experiences growing to adulthood that no child could experience yet she had become a strong women with devotion to her small circle of friends. Hotwire was a friend but they both felt more no matter how much they denied those feelings. Hotwire was an alpha male but had grace and wit and a mind as good as Claire. He had a beautiful childhood but suffered a loss as a young adult that colored his ...more

#3 Mercenary trilogy - Romantic Suspense

#1 Ready and #2 Willing were much more entertaining. I quit reading this one -- and almost tossed it at the wall -- when, on page 132, the commitment-phobic Hotwire admits to Claire that his "rule against marriage, or even a majorly committed relationship" is his way of remembering Elena, a deceased girlfriend.

Geez. Hotwire's been hot on Claire's trail seduction-wise from the get-go! If he's so tortured and haunted by Elena's long-ago death, why does he fl

This is book #3 in the Mercenary Trilogy. The author started another series called the Goddard Project and it has interaction(s) with the characters from the Mercenary Trilogy. FYI

I enjoyed this entire series (Mercenary and Goddard). Modern spy stuff with hot romance to boot! The books are large paperbacks, too. I think it is neat how she did the titles for this trilogy: Ready, Willing and Able.
Here's the series, so far.

I really enjoyed this one, it had plenty of suspense as you kept thinking about who was after Claire and you kept reading to find out. The attraction between Claire and Brett was hot and it was inevitable that they would come together. They seemed well suited together as both very stubborn and willing to stand up to what's right. But this does lead to some clashes between the pair.

This series was good on the whole and enjoyed reading the books.

For a romantic suspense novel, it wasn't very suspenseful. The action part of the story, drawn out over the course of the book, was practically resolved in two pages. But that's okay - I sure didn't read the story for the suspense, but rather for the romance between the two characters, Hotwire, or Brett, and Claire, Jessie's roommate from the second book in the Mercenaries trilogy.

Angie
I have like Hotwire's character throughout the other books so I was glad to have a whole book about him. I really liked Claire from the book with Josie and Nitro and with her brains and computer smarts she seemed like a perfect match for Hotwire. This book was fun and sexy...I was not disappointed.
