Introducción a las Ciencias Cognitivas.
Se puede decir que el libro es, pese a la intención del autor, poco claro. El texto se configuró como unas charlas para integrantes de una empresa a la que Valera pertenecía y se ha plasmado como una introducción: en efecto, adolece de ser bastante oscuro a la hora de explicar términos ajenos a aquellos que no se han acercado a las ciencias cognitivas (para los que, en un principio, está destinado este libro). Francisco Varela was a biologist, philosopher, and neuroscientist who, together with his teacher Humberto Maturana, is best known for introducing the concept of autopoiesis to biology, for bringing phenomenology and first-person approaches to biology and neuroscience, and for co-founding the Mind and Life Institute to promote dialog between science and Buddhism.
