The Famous Five are on their half term break and have decided to go hiking. Needless to say, they soon find themselves neck deep in another adventure.

Due to Dick not being able to follow a set of simple directions, he and Anne end up staying the night at the wrong farm, which leads to the kids getting involved with a criminal gang who are plotting to recover their stolen loot. Thanks to Dick getting his hands on a set of clues as to the loot's location, the kids decide to beat the criminals to i

I don't even like pork, but when they eat the pork, ham, egg and cheese sandwiches I always want one! How is the five almost always end up eating the most delicious sounding food, and drink the best sounding drinks? Orange and ginger beer, yummy!

Now, through a series of mistakes, Dick ends up sleeping in a barn believing George and Julian will be along soon and that this is the farmhouse they agreed to spend the night at. He is mistakenly given a message from an escaped prisoner- the directions

Petualangan ke-10 Lima Sekawan!

Seperti biasa saya selalu merasa sedang bersama Lima Sek

This was another fun read. The hike in the moors made interesting read and the neat mystery with no secret passages and stuff - they are fascinating but overdoing them make them cliched and boring. The method of locating a place in the river was novel. The clues and all were a bit far fletched - a common criminal would unlikely to be giving crytpic clues and stuff.

My favourite book in this series, I love this even now and if I want to read a short but wonderful book I'll reach for this one everytime.

Fun trip down memory lane... Reading their love for outdoor makes me wonder if their outings planted the seed of my longing for greenfix!

If it wasn't for those meddlesome kids

After a really intense and dark adventure, the Five return for an adventure that seems to be a little less dangerous, though of course we still have the rather nasty and vicious bad guys. This time Blyton has sent the Five on a hike over the moorlands during a long weekend, on which they discover a prison that has been built nearby. On the first day of their hike Timmy injures himself, so they decide to split up, with George and Julian going

I grew up with Enid Blyton books but I cannot grow out of them. Deciding to end the year with a book, Enid Blyton’s Famous Five beckoned to me. “Five on a Hike Together” is a tale of yet another adventure that the five walk into. With a surprising long weekend Julian and Dick plan a hiking trip with George, Anne and the gallant Timmy. It starts off with sandwiches and good village folk but the plans are thwarted with Timmy hurting his leg and paves way for a sudden adventure. With nasty folks on ...more

Still more Famous Five - this one with secret messages and maps and ruins and diving. I think I've decided part of why these are better than Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys, besides the better writing and the frank descriptions, are because it's an ensemble cast. You know, like Bastables or Pevensies or Boxcar Children or Little House or Harry Potter or even Dashwoods or Bennetts. There's no need for everyone to be siblings or even related, but ensembles just keep things entertaining and light. I ...more

I loved the Famous Five books when I was a kid. I don't recall much about most of them anymore - though I do recall quite a bit about this one. The Five are on holiday (again!) and they chance upon a mysterious and puzzling message. It turns out to be a cryptic message and their adventure revolves around solving it and finding out the who and why of the message.

I'd recommend this series for kids who love adventure stories coupled with mystery and detective elements. It's like a younger version o

As with all Famous Five books, this is of the same trusted and successful formula.

I loved these books as a child and I am delighted that my girls loved them as children too.

The stories are adventures of a byegone age, yet still hold the attention of children, around the world...... they have stood the test of time well - and for a great reason.

The stories are plausible, fun, adventurous and contain an excellent mix of young characters... with a little bit of everyone in each of them - something

Kids of today certainaly do read The Famous Five. My 7 y.o. and I are reading our way through the series. This one is one of his favourites thus far. The five go on a hike, but get thrown into adventure when Dick and George get lost one night, and Dick receives a mysterious message whispered into the barn where he is sleeping. They go in search of hidden treasure, is it giving anything anyway to say that they find it? I don't think so. They always find it. Once again they have some interesting m ...more

One of the better Five books. The McGuffin in this one is at the bottom of a lake and they have to keep certain landmarks in view in order to determine its position as they float about on a raft. Question. How come they all have pockets bulging with suitably buoyant objects in order to mark the spot? Such foresight. I think this one has an escaped prisoner on the loose to frighten them as well.

These books (Famous five) are hands down one of my favorite books from my childhood. All those adventures and mystery …and those sandwiches they always packed! aww, just the best! I would love to read one of these again. To bring back those memories..memories of first experiences with reading books.

It was just like the other Famous Five books, exciting and adventurous. The best part was when the five were searching for Saucy Jane and Mary and Dirty Dick were creating a trouble to do so. Julian was really brave to dive in the cold water of Gloomy Water. Overall, it was a good book and my favourite too. Hat's off to Enid Blyton. I would like to give this book 4 stars****.

It's half term, and the Five are thrilled to be going off together. But when Dick and Anne go the wrong way, they stumble upon another mystery. Will there be time to sort out the clues and solve the mystery before they are all due back at school?

This is one of the better stories in the series, although the clue on the paper (when we finally read it) seems a little obvious and takes the kids forever to work out. I couldn't help but have a childish giggle at "Saucy Jane" and "Dirty Dick".
