Helpful animals get together to aid a bird who wants to give her grandmother a perfect gift. When a nasty alligator comes along, the friends save the day. Lovely illustrations, a nice message, and just enough action to keep everyone engaged. Great for reading aloud to K-2 kids.

Lori, the Lorikeet, is bringing a strawberry to her Grandma as a gift. Unfortunately, when she stopped to rest the berry rolled into the river and sank to the bottom. The story finishes with friends working together to retrieve the strawberry, escape from a hungry crocodile, and finally bringing a gift to Lori's grandmother.

The story is an example of friends working together. The story was a bit choppy for little listeners, but it can be smoothed over with a few interactions between reader and l

'The Perfect Gift' is not always the best gift to give as it is not always perfect.

Mary Newell DePalma tells a lovely story of little Lori who has the perfect gift for her grandmother until it falls to the bottom of the river. She is sad. Her friends help her get it back but the inevitable happens. What can she give her grandmother now? With a little help from her friends, she gives her grandmother the perfect gift of all.

Friends make the world a whole lot brighter when you need them.

This is a sweet tale about a little bird who finds a red, juicy strawberry that she wants to bring home to her grandmother. She encounters a few difficulties, but several animals come to her aid. Problem solving, sacrifice and creativity are all depicted in this tale. The illustrations are colorful and fun and I thought this was a good book to read on Granparent's Day. We enjoyed reading this book together.

Friends helping each other out and giving up important things to save each other.

Also, showing love for family through generosity.

Love it that the Perfect Gift turns out to be a book in the end.

I loved that this story was about a lorikeet as I love parrots! I didn't love the story but loved the ending. The book started abruptly and if you didn't read the book summary you were a bit lost
