An enjoyable "cozy mystery" which successfully combines a number of winning elements--face paced action, colorfully quirky characters lead by its anti-Jessica Fletcher detective and an intriguing central mystery--with satisfying results. The writing grinds a little bit around the edges but the overall effect is successful.

Funnier and quicker-paced than the previous book (I haven't read the first). Hall has an odd habit of frequently referring to the characters by their full names, but it's a minor annoyance. So far these books seem to be a step above the vast majority of hobby-themed cozy mysteries that are flooding the shelves.

I liked the early Puzzle Lady mysteries. The later ones lost me. The early portrayals of the characters was interesting and consistent. Later developments were merely irritating.

Not as good as the first one, but if you like a good quick mystery then this is the book for you.

I did not read the first 2 books in this series. I was a bit lost at the beginning, but the cute story and good characters made up for the initial confusion. Overall, a nice book.

this is the first book i didn't finish reading. i can't believe it. anyway, it was too....predictable. or maybe just too lame. i liked that the main character was a functioning alcoholic, that was funny.

Recommended for vacation/beach/mindless periods. It was really OK for that!
