The title of this book is a bit misleading, as it works much better as a short history of anthracite mining than as a collection of mining stories. Produced for the 100th anniversary of the strike of 1902, the book accurately portrays the development of the industry in Pennsylvania, the life of the miners, and the organization of the unions, with lots of archival photos and a very useful timeline running throughout the book.
