My introduction to Admiral Gallery was at the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry where, in the early 1960s, our school district took us on field trips. The U-505 went on display there in 1954 after a long campaign by Gallery overcame the Navy's disinterest in the project. I bought and read U-505 (original title: Twenty Million Tons Under the Sea) after visiting the museum and touring the U-boat.
