Hair is falling out in places Chip Davis never expected. There's a microscopic layer of fat covering his six-pack. His wife is peaking while he's on the downslide, his kids want to create their own family compound, and his oldest son heads off to We Don't Know Where; fifty is looming on the horizon and Chip resists it with as much force as a man who has to get up five ...more

Every man who has ever said he just doesn't understand women should read "The Charybdis Novels" and then the follow-up "The King and Queen of Perfect Normal". A woman deserves some tenderness, a few laughs and the time it takes to talk things out. Read it, remember it, take it to heart.
I loved these books. I laughed, I cried and I stayed up reading until 6 AM. Don't want to ruin any of the surprises for you so I'm not writing a book report. If you like books with lots of great characters goin

I was worried that closure to this story would not be possible and I would be left wanting, but K.A Thompson pulled through. The final pages were well devised and really brought hundreds of pages together with reflection and a new beginning. I am hopeful to get a peak into the life of the characters I've grown to love. And thanks for the medical lesson. It was great.

I ordered this book because I liked the title but didn't realize this was book 4 in a series. There were parts of this family saga I loved but it could have been condensed and some of the repetition of themes got to me. I guess I would start with Book 1 if I were interested

This book was a continuation of The Charybdis novels and was just as good. It was nice to see a continuation of Chip and Terry's lives as so many novels just stop and I always end up wondering "what happens next?"

I really loved this series, I am glad for the way it ended. But for awhile in the 4th book I started to get to a point where I was thinking ok we get it you were great parents, your family is great. Regardless still would recommend the series to anyone, it is a great story of family and love.

I absolutely LOVED this series! I didn't want it to end, but I loved the way she wrapped it up. Chip and Terry should be an inspiration to all of us!

I'm currently living in mega-metropolis Dixon, CA (population 17,000) with a Spouse Thingy and two cats (Max the Psychokitty and Buddah Pest, both of whom are far more popular than I...and Max has his own books out there...) I also have an adult son who long ago escaped the confines of parental ineptitude and is pursuing his love of acting. The kid is seriously good--Srsly--so keep an eye out for ...more
