A vicar's daughter, Juliet Grafton-Moore is also the proprietress of Angel's Fall, a house where London's ladies of the night recieve shelter from their past. It is an institution despised by distinguished peers and peasants alike, a place where the women learn by Juliet's pristine example -- and no "men" are allowed. But this rule is soundly broken when Juliet, suddenly b ...more

I can't believe this is the same person who wrote the 1st book in the series.

Did not finish because:

-The characters are 1 dimensional and seem to have personality disorders because they are inconsistant with their behavior. They are also unrealistic.

- The dialogue is ridiculous. They just keep talking and talking blah blah, and the story doesn't go anywhere.

Bad, just plain bad.

I'm wavering between 1.75 and 2 stars. The story was nice but since its elements held the promise of a spectacular tale that fell woefully short of the mark, I felt cheated.

Adam has a gruff, tortured character who has been struggling all his life to rise above the scandal of his birth. Not quite as good as the first one, but interesting to learn what became of Adam and how his activities since "Gather the Stars" has impacted his life. Somehow Juliet doesn't seem to have come alive in this book, not as in-depth a character as Rachel was in the first book.

I loved the story- I thought it was original and it was def an interesting read. I liked the hero and the heroine and I enjoyed how lovely the romance played out.... The only thing I didn't love was the wordy prose writing of the author. Everything written was so drawn out and exaggerated it drove me crazy. It's like listening to my sister tell a story- she adds and embellishes for dramatic effect and she does it so much I stop listening and just try to tune in for the important parts... It real ...more

ANGEL'S FALL - VG
Cates, Kimberly - standalone

When sword-wielding legend Adam Slade takes Juliet Grafton-Moore--proprietress of Angel's Fall, a house where London's ladies of the night receive shelter from their past--under his wing, he is merely fulfilling a promise. But now the man who has fought the fiercest of foes finds his greatest challenge in protecting this lady, and resisting the unimagined heights of their growing passion.

This lady writes very good historical romance. I'll read more of
