سری"لعنتی های هنر" نظر، واقعن خوبه. این کتاب اول میاد درباره ۸ نقاشی فرانسیس بیکن که از روی پرتره پاپ اثر دیاگو ولاسکز الهام گرفته شده صحبت میکنه و جدید بودن شیوه و حس و فرم ها و نکته های کمتر دیده شده در باره این ۸ کار رو توضیح میده. بعد یک مصاحبه با بیکن داره که درمورد شیوه الهام گیریش و ایده پردازیش صحبت میکنه و اخرش واقعن جالب میشه وقتی مصاحبه کننده بحث رو میکشونه به جهان بینی بیکن. البته که بیکن یک ادم بدبین نسبت به زندگی هست ولی این بدبینی باه صورت نا امیدی ظهور نکرده. درواقع راضیه. هرچند ...more

There is some genuinely interesting information in Hugh Davies' essay, but it is poorly organized. The reproduction colors are rich, but the designer made some odd choices around margin and bleed on the page layout when details are presented. Davies is kind of brave to include an interview he conducted with Bacon in the 70s that is really only memorable for the callowness of the interviewer's questions.
Do see the originals if ever you get the chance.

From the amazing exhibit at the Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego in 1999 where all 8 of the Papal Portraits of 1953 were in a single room. Seeing the screaming pope in person for the first time at the Tate Museum in London was nearly life changing, so to have a chance to see these 8 together, well my mouth was hanging open for hours just like the screaming pope's was.
