This was the story of Aladdin that was first told by a strange little man trying to sell a lamp. The antagonist, Jafar, in this story is trying to steal a lamp, who only the diamond in the rough could get. The diamond in the rough happens to be Aladdin, which Jafar finds out in his lab after lighting strikes down on his lightning glass. Aladdin is an older boy, probably in his late teenage years, who is very poor and a thief. HIs best friend is a pet monkey named Abu. After Aladdin gets arrested...more
Jasmine, the Sultan's daughter, frustrated with "having her life lived for her" and the obligation of royal marriage to a prince, escapes the palace and goes to Agrabah's marketplace in disguise. There she meets street rat Aladdin and his monkey, Abu. The two discover they have a lot in common. When Aladdin is captured and jailed for thievery, Jasmine orders him released, but Jafar lies to her, telling her Aladdin has already been executed.

This book is one of my favorite books to show us gender roles in children’s literature. As you can see, Aladdin are struggling with problems to win Jasmine’s heart and he fights with every bad things. All children can read this story to see gender roles in Disney’s books and it can help them to improve their definitions about gender roles through Aladdin’s adventures. Also, pictures created perfectly and children really like both of story and pictures.
I think it is a great book for beginners. The contains beautiful pictures and easy language to read and understand. I like the book and I recommend it for younger children or people who are trying to get in the habit to read. It is family books for and age person. It is about a guy name Aladdin who was betrayed by a magician who he thought was a great nice guy.
It is a nice book to read with your children or to read it to you sister or brother.

When I was younger I loved having this book read to me. Although I am partial to it because I was named after Princess Jasmine, even re-reading it now I still enjoy it. The pictures are action packed and really help tell the story because they take up almost all of the page. Even though the colors used are on the darker side they still draw you in. Great book overall.
This is the small paperback one, I also own a large hardcover edition.

I read this with both my children.
Read this in swedish.
A classic story of pauper falls for princess. A story I've grown up hearing and watching on tv. This book is possibly one of my favourite childhood stories, it has that element of magic that all children's books need and to this day, it has me wishing I had my own genie.
I'd definitely recommend this to all children and all parents who are trying to teach their children a valuable lesson about being themselves and being loved for being themselves.

This is the type of book I prayed NOT to encounter when baby-sitting. Due to the popularity of the mind-numbing collection of animated movies Disney published a series of books taken based on their films. Children, enamored with these movies, often choose such reading material for bed-time story hour. I confess to skipping large portions of the text and moving on to a "real" book.

Recommends it for:

"A Whole New World" is my favorite song in the "Aladdin" Disney music book. It's one of the thinnest Disney soundtrack books I've seen. The pieces look simple but aren't too easy, and they sound good. Most give a good or close impression to the movie's music.
Intermediate piano players who enjoy the movie should be able to enjoy this music book.

Book of the film - and what a book it is! Gorgeous, large hardcover with full-page illustrations to accompany what actually made it from screen to page. Very much abbreviated, but when you're a kid and have just seen the film, who cares?! (I also own a smaller paperback copy.)

A trashy abridged version of the story of the Disney version of the tale - as in their cartoon version. [wow... 3 versions in 1 sentence]
